HaggisHunter drop me an e-mail with your address and I will send you another Best of British geocoin - I have one left and I've been wondering what to do with it. So I'd happilly send it to you to release into the wild. I know that a lot of people deface their coins prior to releasing them by drilling a hole through them and attaching a note - I don't condone it but it certainly does make them less collectable. Ian Edited: I really must learn to spell one of these days

There are three of us in my office. The funny thing was none of us knew about the others until for some reason GPS's came up in a conversation and we all chipped in that we use ours for geocaching - it really is a small world. Ian

ADOPTING A CACHE..............
studlyone replied to SNAKEBITER's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Numerous reasons, one may be that the cache placer is moving out of the area and therefore won't be able to be responsible for the caches upkeep. If it doesn't get adopted in this case then it would have to be archived and removed. Ian -
BECOMING A PREMIUM MEMBER.........
studlyone replied to SNAKEBITER's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
I'm a premium member because of all the added functionality that it brings. I do paperless caching so it definitely makes that easier for me. It works out at a rediulously small monthly fee as well - I just wish I could say that about the rest of my regular hobbies. Ian -
The best advantage is you are less likely to be muggled whilst visiting a cache - that and the great feeling of frosty grass crunching underfoot and of course your breath misting as you exhale.

All I want for Christmas is ...
studlyone replied to Dorsetgal & GeoDog's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
I hope that geodog is back to normal soon and out enjoying the fresh air with you. Our cat is currently locked in a cage for four weeks on the vets orders - he broke his femur yesterday chasing cars - I think they were chasing him actually and one of them got him. At least our dog is having a easy time of things without the cat creaping up on him. As for what I'd like for Xmas - well a new jacket (geocaching related in the sense that I'd wear it geocaching) so if Mrs Studlyone is reading this - hint, hint, hint. Failing that then a new PDA (I wonder which she will choose LOL). Ian -
Untrackable coin - what do I do?
studlyone replied to walkergeoff and wife's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
I came across an untrackable coin that someone had sealed inside a plastic case with a TBs number stuck to it to make it trackable. They had actually done a good job with it - it looked like it was resin used to seal the coin in and that makes it less likely for 'collectors' to want to line their pockets with it I guess. So thats one way to make it trackable - use the tracking code from a TB. Ian Edit: I really need to learn how to spell LOL -
Untrackable coin - what do I do?
studlyone replied to walkergeoff and wife's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
That is definitely not a trackable coin, it is a collectable personal geocoin. It was minted by Wykenwizard - his site is: http://www.wykenwizard.co.uk/ The number on the coin is not a tracking code but just the coins number ie 153 of 500 etc. I think he is planning on doing a trackable coin in the near future but I am not certain. He has made some great coins, you can see pics of them on his site. Ian -

GEO-holidays - when tupperware beats the sun?
studlyone replied to kewfriend's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
My parents went and cached the whole of Malta at the beginning of the year and loved the place. I think that there were 12 on the island at the time. I've recently got back from Afghanistan (not a holliday recommendation - trust me on this one) and didn't even think about looking for caches over there until i got back and thought "I wonder...", did a search and low and behold there are loads over there, most of them in camps and bases - what a missed opportunity, although the thought of picking up hidden ammo boxes over there does make the hair on the back of my neck stand on end. I can see me getting myself a couple of these. Ian
