  1. This is so filled with inaccuracies that it's hardly worth responding to. I'm not sure how you can be "quite sure" about a subject about which you have absolutely no direct knowledge. Suffice it to say, your confident assumption is not rooted in reality. If Groundspeak or GSA were ever to come out and say they were unhappy with their partnership, then you'd have something to run with. Until then, your baseless insinuations only do a disservice to the community.
  2. This thread is very near being closed. Fair questions have been raised (and answered.) However, there has also been name calling, inflammatory behavior, and more. If you want to talk about the GeoTour here, feel free. But continued antagonistic postings will not be permitted. Please keep this in mind (and also maybe check out the forum guidelines) before posting further in the thread.
  3. Closing thread at OP's request. And since it's pretty well gone off the rails.
  4. Closing thread at OP's request.
  5. There is now a thread in the GeoTours forum dedicated to the GeoTour being discussed here. Please direct any further conversation to that thread. Thread link here
  6. On Thursday, January 21, 2016, we will be taking the Groundspeak forums offline 2-5pm PDT so that we can perform basic maintenance on the servers. (Convert to your local time here). Normal service will resume after the maintenance window. Sorry for any inconvenience!
  7. Since a thread has been opened in the Website forum (which is the better place for discussion of the subject), I'm closing this one.
  8. Since not everyone has a watch on the Announcements forum, I want to alert you to a post that was just now made there. It details an upcoming change (effective February 2) when support for HTML and UBB in geocaching logs will be removed in favor of Markdown. You can read more about the change in the forum post or in this Help Center article.
  9. When you post an Owner Maintenance log, the Needs Maintenance wrench will disappear.
  10. Thread has gone way off the rails. Closed.
  11. Thread closed, as it appears to have run its course and is now a discussion between two people. Should they wish to continue, email or the Private Message function are the best options.
  12. Forum Guidelines 7. Private discussions: Sometimes, a discussion thread strays off into a friendly dialogue or a heated debate among a very small number of users. For these exchanges, we ask that you please use the Private Message feature that is provided through the Groundspeak forums, or the Geocaching.com e-mail system.
  13. This thread has unfortunately degraded into a series of antagonistic comments between forum vets. All of you know better. If the current tone continues, this thread will be closed.
  14. Today's Release Notes post explains it.
  15. That question falls under "Here are some things community members have indicated they don't like about challenge caches." So one of the things some community members don't like is that some challenge caches result in them feeling they have to hurry to find caches in a specific time period. By agreeing with the "I have to hurry to find caches in a specific time period" statement, you're agreeing that you don't like hurrying to find caches in a specific time period in order to qualify for a challenge cache.
  16. Since this forum section tends to get more eyes than the Announcements section, wanted to post a link to the Challenge Cache Survey in a dedicated post here. We're also including the link in this week's email newsletter. The survey is open until December 21.
  17. From the Help Center article regarding the moratorium: "Challenge caches can also be very difficult to publish due to the large amount of subjectivity involved relative to other geocaches."
  18. I can see how there might be some confusion on that. But being grandfathered only means that a challenge cache with qualifying requirements that wouldn't be permitted today may still exist if published before 3/12/12. COs cannot prohibit "pre-signing" of any challenge cache, no matter when it was published.
  19. It hasn't. That's a pretty accurate re-telling of my email to you. But I would never say "um." I don't remember writing that a survey would happen "in a few weeks," but perhaps someone not involved in the process would have. Or perhaps I have amnesia. In any case, you'll see a survey very soon. (Cue the back-and-forth about what defines "very soon.")
  20. Yes, it was successfully submitted. A reviewer should take a look at it within the week. If you run into a similar situation in the future, you can contact us via the Help Center to check on it.
  21. Plenty of time for me to cache before dinner is served. Also, I'm dining at a geocacher's house, so they're understanding ;-)
  22. In addition to what Touchstone mentioned (btw, if you're in the KC area, the M.A.S.T.E.R. event is a monthly thing with lots of attendees), you can filter Event-Caches by state. Here are the results for Missouri. Depending on which part of the state you're in, you might check out one of the local geocaching groups. Among them are the Kansas City Geocaching Organization and the St. Louis Area Geocachers Association.
