  1. Confluence at Kaw Point is a good EarthCache on the Kansas side, not far from downtown KC. There are a couple of traditionals in that park, too. From Union Station, you can walk to KC#1 Happy Birthday George, KC#2 Not All Boys Are "Pretty", A Drip Off the Old Bloch, Union Cemetery and KC#3 "Brickyards". There are others, but those are high favorited virtuals. You could also take public transit (the streetcar) to get near Just call me Art, Sol, Steamboat Arabia, and Kansas City Floods.
  2. It would not be permitted. From the Not Acceptable column of Source of Criteria: Challenges based on geographic areas other than countries, states/provinces, counties (or their local equivalent). For example, user-defined mapping polygons, latitude/longitude, radius, etc.
  3. I've reported the issue to the engineers for investigation. As an aside, we could've gotten the issue into the team more quickly if the first post in this thread had been written differently. I do get that this kind of bug is annoying. But having to wade through thick sarcasm only makes it more difficult to determine which facts we need to pass on to the engineers. If you're posting about a bug, the team needs to know: What steps are followed to produce the bug? What browser and version are you using? What day/time did this happen? Any other pertinent details you can remember. Anything else is just stuff I have to remove before passing it along.
  4. Moving to General Discussions as this is not a GeoTour topic
  5. Our developers believe they've fixed this bug. If you have any further trouble with it, please let us know.
  6. I took a look at your profile and noticed that you hadn't copied all of the code from the email. You need to include the stuff before the https:// and after the .png. It'd fixed now and is properly displaying for you.
  7. That page is a mess, and we're well aware that it's long overdue for an overhaul. I can't give an ETA for when that will happen. But it's something that's being worked on currently.
  8. Participants will receive the profile badge by email this week. (Make sure you have Tips & Tricks checked in your Email Preferences so that we have proper permission to email you.)
  9. Closing this thread as another was already active (link)
  10. I'm submitting the issue to the devs. The thing that makes this especially weird is it seems to have started yesterday (judging by posts here and elsewhere), but there were no code changes yesterday. Also, the couple of us who've tried to reproduce it haven't been able to. It's not affecting everyone. Intermittent bugs are the worst. So if you're having the problem, please note which browser you're on and which maps you use. Any of those details that we can pass to the devs may be helpful.
  11. It was meant to read that you've successfully completed A mission. As it's worded, it could certainly lead to the impression that the promotion is over. It's not. Sorry for that. Our email guru had been out of the office on vacation, which is why the issues with messages 1 and 2 were not fixed as quickly as would've been ideal. He returned early this week and was able to get things back in order in time for this week's email. I promise it's not part of a sinister plot to hide puzzle emails while ensuring that everyone sees marketing emails. People here do try to do good work, but sometimes mistakes are made. Feel free to call us out on it. But I'm confident you can do it without being rude. Posts of this tone (which are coming from you with increasing frequency) are a big reason why more lackeys don't visit the forums. They don't mind constructive criticism. Just don't slather it with a big dollop of meanness.
  12. It's OK. I had forgotten it was next week, too!
  13. Because the next souvenir weekend isn't till Aug 13-14... https://www.geocaching.com/blog/2016/07/your-mission-gc-should-you-choose-to-accept-it/
  14. There is already an existing thread about this topic. I'm closing this thread and asking any further discussion be directed to the existing one.
  15. List updated to include the new Spartanburg trail. Thanks!
  16. The list is updated with recent suggestions. Thanks!
  17. You have not enabled the cache listing for review. 1. Go to the cache listing page 2. You can find your unpublished geocaches by going to Your Profile, and selecting the geocache you wish to enable 3. Once on the cache listing page, select "Submit for Review"
  18. Closing duplicate thread. Any discussion can continue here.
  19. In case you aren't aware (though you probably are), the original post stated that this will be a "test period." It would be a mistake to assume that whatever appears today or tomorrow or whenever the test period begins is the final product. Otherwise, it wouldn't be a "test period." Also as stated in the original post, you can change the default on the large map. There's instructions and a screenshot and everything. There are no plans to change the map settings on the Cache Details page to allow for a change in default.
  20. User-generated polygons are not verifiable on Geocaching.com, which puts them in conflict with 4. Source of Criteria. There are a few exceptions to that guideline (eg. permitting counties), but generally the criteria has to be verifiable on the website.
  21. Check out the Washington State Geocaching Association (Facebook, website) and the Cachers of Puget Sound Facebook group.
  22. Different development teams on different platforms. The level of difficulty in implementing any given feature will vary depending on the platform. Should the iOS developers' contributions be held back from the users simply because another team is taking a bit longer? What The A-Team said. And also because even if our dev teams submitted the apps to Android and Apple at the same time, it's very unlikely that they would be approved and made available in the stores at the same time. The review process can vary wildly between Apple and Android.
  23. No, offline mapping is a different thing. It's on the roadmap, though. We'll look at doing that next time. It's mostly just a function of the person doing the screenshots in this case being an iPhone user and not having easy access to an Android. If the views between the apps are significantly different, then we'll be sure to do separate shots.
