  1. gemmy, I've sent you an email with information that should help.
  2. Most people don't assume that all feedback is ignored because their feedback wasn't implemented in a release. That kind of overreaction is unique and most people are discouraged from posting that sort of overreaction when they see the sentence that we include at the bottom of every release notes thread. Unfortunately, three forum veterans have ignored that guidance right out of the gate here. We appreciate that some other websites and apps publish a list like you've described, but it's not something that we're planning to do right now. Any further comments not related to the features in this release may be removed. We want this thread to be a place where the product team can monitor feedback that is relevant to the features in this release.
  3. The engineers are aware and are working on fixing the problem. Sorry for the inconvenience!
  4. The map provider made some changes that we did not receive advance notice about. Our folks are looking into it.
  5. If you're an iPhone user, the update should be available to you now. As mentioned in the OP, it may take up to two days for some Android users to have access to the update.
  6. Yes, it's legit. See this related thread for more.
  7. Since this app is not one of our Authorized Developers, you will need to visit the app's forums or contact the developer for assistance.
  8. Thanks for pointing that out! Can't believe we neglected to add it. It's on there now.
  9. In addition to what Keystone posted, I would mention that there is a Windows app included on the Authorized Developers page of our Help Center.
  10. That's one of the funnier theories I've heard yet. Thanks for sharing!
  11. Unfortunately, no matter how well it's secured, if some jerk is determined to remove it, then they'll probably find a way to do so. Ultimately, we felt that if someone muggles it again, we’re no worse off than we were before it was rediscovered. At least people will have gotten some enjoyment out of finding it again. We'll be having discussions with the land manager (Washington State Parks) to see if there's a way to secure the cache that's acceptable to them. A lot of methods come to mind, but they may not all be compliant with park management's wishes. We'll see.
  12. Just moments ago, Geocaching HQ annnounced via the Geocaching Blog and our social channels that the community has voted to return and reactivate the Mission 9: Tunnel of Light APE cache. We will reactivate the APE cache on August 19, 2017, the date of the Going Ape 2017 Mega-Event at Washington’s Iron Horse State Park. Here are the result of more than 10,000 votes: 61% — Return and Reactivate 17% — Activate Once A Year 13% — Display at Geocaching HQ 9% — Traveling Artifact Many cachers argued passionately on all sides of this issue, including here in the forums. In the end, the consensus from the community was clear. We understand people around the world are eager for more information. In the coming weeks, Geocaching HQ will work closely with the Washington State Geocaching Association (organizer of the Going Ape Mega-Event) and we will update the community as additional details are worked out.
  13. On Wednesday, March 8 at 5pm (Pacific Daylight Time), our Help Center will be offline for maintenance for about 2 hours. Convert to your local time here. Normal service will resume after the maintenance window.
  14. noncentric pretty much covered it. But just to confirm, there will not be a Pi Day souvenir this year. 2015 provided a unique opportunity to recognize that day.
  15. I've looked at various places in your profile and I'm only seeing 36. Could you be more specific about where you're seeing 37?
  16. The reason we did not include that as an option is because virtually no one suggested it in response to the November survey. The goal of that survey was to gauge reaction to the ideas we had come up with internally, as well as to see if there was a groundswell for other ideas. And then present viable options for the final vote. Responses akin to “do nothing” were received - but not at a level that merited including it as an option for the final vote. It's important to the 9,000 or so people who responded to the first survey, and to the 6,000 or so who have voted between yesterday and today. If it's not special to you, that's cool. But suggesting that this process is happening only because it matters to some people at HQ is not accurate. Yes.
  17. Just to be clear, this list is a mix of official GeoTours and geotrails that aren’t affiliated with Geocaching HQ. The “owners” of these GeoTours and geotrails do not maintain the list. We keep the reward availability as current as possible -- by checking all of the affiliated websites on a regular basis. But as it stated in the post where we link to the list, “…if you're planning to travel somewhere to attempt a GeoTour or reward geotrail, it's always a good idea to call or email ahead to be sure rewards are still available.” Much as I would like for every GeoTour or reward geotrail operator to keep us apprised of their reward availability, we simply aren't able to construct a system for that.

  19. I really like this one: https://shop.geocaching.com/default/hybridlighttm-flashlight-charger.html No batteries (charges via solar or USB), so it's very light. You can use the USB slot to charge other stuff (i.e. phone). The beam is brighter than the Rayovac I used for a long time.
  20. No decision has been made. We surveyed the community to gauge support for a few ideas, as well as to solicit further suggestions. After going through that feedback, we're now constructing the final ballot of potential solutions. Once the ballot is announced, the community will vote.
  21. I think you've got it mixed up. The old search has "Cache Starts With:" as a parameter. The new search has "Geocache Name Contains..." as a parameter.
  22. I don’t know that I would’ve told you to shove it. But you are in the wrong in this case, and without knowing how you worded it when you "called him out", I can’t say for certain whether I would’ve been able to bite my tongue either. Looks like the reviewer found the cache and was FTF while caching with a group a full two days after the cache was published. Volunteers may be “first to find” for any traditional cache after it is published, so there's nothing improper here. Best wishes to you, too, for a great 2017.
  23. Moving this from the GPS forum, since the topic never focused much on GPS.
