  1. Thanks for the info. I managed to get a couple done in the area. I have been having a heck of a time with Hey Wolfie! I went there every night after my conference and had a look around. I must be missing something. Short of leaving over the edge, I must not be looking in the right area. Hopefully it is not on or near the electrical box or junction box. Anyway, I am back in March for a week. I will try to get some more done. Did manage to get three travel bugs into Edmonton from Kingston... Thanks Jeff
  2. Hi, I am travelling to Kingston on two separate trips this week and next. I was planning on getting some caching in after my conferences. I am staying downtown on the waterfront. Can anyone confirm some caches in the area that are are winter capable and those which are night capable. I will have a rental car and my GPS auto routes so I should be OK for getting around. Any advise would be appreciated. Cheers Jeff
  3. On Thursday I will be finalizing my travel plans. It would be great to have a get together and chat with some local cachers in Bath. I will be able to confirm a possible day that will work. I greatly appreciate your offers of assistance in sorting myself out in the area. I will gratiously take a couple of you up on it. I have found that with travelling, it is often the little things in the areas that are more interesting than the standard tourist traps. Reference logging, we don't log a cache as a find but certain log comments.... Jeff
  4. Thanks for detailed info. I am travelling on the government ticket so although cost is always an issue, I should be able to get a rental car. I am more than willing to perform TB airline to Canada. I can confirm my schedule and effect a link up. What we do here locally in this situation is we host a get together and give the coordinates usually a pub as a cache. No one logs the visit nor are they allowed but it allows a way to transition the travel bugs and share a pint. Is there any scope to do this? Jeff
  5. Thanks for all the info. I will have a couple of days free during my trip. I am still working out the logistics of the trip but rental car seems to be the ticket. I might age a bit driving on the wrong....errr....other side of the road I plan to hit a number of caches as I want to get some travel bugs into new homes to start there travelling in the UK. If you have any travel bugs that need to get to North America, maybe we can work a linkup or let me know the cache location, particularly in the Bath area. I will start my research on locations in the coming weeks as my travel plans fall into place. Cheers Jeff
  6. Evening, I am heading to the Bath area for a meeting in mid Feb. Could someone advise on easiest transport options from Heathrow to Bath...train vs car is what I was thinking but open to any thoughts. I am also looking at advice on routes and any must see geocaches on route either from London or onroute to Bath. I lived in the UK in my youth...which was a while ago....so I toured London a number of times so I am hoping to see other areas. Briefly remember Bath, but at that age I was looking at girls rather than roman stuff. I am looking forward to seeing the country side and experiencing some UK geocaches. Anyway, any advise would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Jeff Team Canuck
  7. I would like to establish a category under places-historical sites - Alberta Historical Sites. This would document the many historical sites in the province of Alberta..... Thanks Jeff
  8. I just ordered a cable to link my 60CS to my zire 71. I should have it this week. I will advise on success. I will post the source. I had a similar thread asking much the same about two weeks ago....not that you can search or anything! Cheers Jeff
  9. I use a Palm Zire 71. It has sufficent memory to manage 1500 cache database through cachemate. I have a SD 256 memory card but to be honest it holds music for traveling. I got the palm off ebay for $75 with all the bits and pieces. picked up an otter box to carry it in which works great and voila, paperless caching. The integral camera with the 71 is nice as you can use it caching....as I did today when the cache required me to take a picture and I left the camera in the car. Worth the money not to have to hike out and hike back! You don't need t spend a great deal of money on a PDA to use it for caching....if you want the PDA to have applications else where outside of caching then you might want to spend more. Wireless capablity although nifty is not needed to go paperless.... Hope this helps. Cheers Jeff
  10. Time my friend, time......i just don't seem to have much of it for tinkering....maybe when the snow hits hard!!!! Jeff
  11. Found one. The correct cable for record is: https://www.bluehillsinnovations.com/store/...d=3&prevstart=0 Just ordered one. I will advise on how well it works. I guess I could have made one up but simply don't seem to have much time these days. I will try to build one for my next GPS. Cheers Jeff
  12. MC, I sense that since I barely followed what you said....I might have to do a little extra work to make it happen. I take it this is not rocket scientist type work..... Thanks Jeff
  13. Evening, I am now using both GSAK and Cachemate. I love the idea of being paperless. One question - where can I get a cable that I can use between my Garmin 60CS and my Palm Zire 71? On my many trips, this would make life much easier if I could export waypoints from the palm directly to my GPS rather than lugging around my cheap and heavy laptop.....which is dying..... Any dealers who sell a cable? Jeff
  14. Evening, I have a Mag 315 GPS that has been gathering dust in the basement. What is it worth these days in the classifeds here? Any thoughts would be appreciated... Cheers Jeff
  15. I think you did the right thing. If I was going there I would be very happy to know the true situation especially if I was bringing my young family. Better to know now than when it naturally corrects itself through emails etc.... Jeff
