  1. Hello, all of a sudden the great tool GCTools stopped working. I can start the app and go to "Data Tables". As soon as I click on "myGeotools.de Code Tables" it just dies. Same behaviour on iPad. I run iOS 6.1.2 on iPhone 4s and iPad II. Regards Hans Blom
  2. This is a joke - right? You are taking away some functionality and then sell it as an improvement? The search facility is limited enough as it is without this new restriction. What is the big performance problem here? Is Groundspeak using some toy-database software to handle all the data, or is it simply the aged and ever expanded database scheme which makes effective searching impossible? A 'real' database should not have any problems looking for a string in some 2 million cache titles... Its open source....you get what you pay for. well, i think you're a bit unfair. you mean expensive proprietary code is better? well, what would it cost ya?
  3. One word from Sweden = catastrophic!!!! Addition: Same thing yesterday. What is Groundspeak doing to remedy the situation? Monopoly brings out bad situations.
  4. or the unexpected massive logging of CITO
  5. Well, forum is slow but acceptable. Maps downloading
  6. Extremely slow??? Just a nice description. It's like surfing in frozen syrup from Sweden. Groundspeak support on duty? Getting this?
  7. Samething here in Sweden at 18:00 UTC
  8. It would be nice if downlowding .gpx files via iTunes would be possible, as in other applications
  9. Hello, I'm a newbie when it comes to hiding caches, but I have a few already and thought I should add a geochecker from geochecker.org. The first one worked perfectly and I was sitting there being very proud of myself. But the second - everything seems to work, I paste the html-code onto the cachepage, it pops up but when I want to edit the geochecker, the cachename field is empty and I what ever I write into is removed when I close the editor. Also if I click on the icon to check the coordinates, the cachename is blank. Any ideas anyone?
  10. Same thing here in Sweden again. If I zoom out there's not a single cache in the whole world. Regards Thanks God! All caches are back! Was a bit worried for a while.
  11. Same thing here in Sweden again. If I zoom out there's not a single cache in the whole world. Regards
  12. Hello, Firefox 13.0.1. Ctrl-U but can't find that info anywhere. What am I missing? Regards from Sweden
  13. OK, back in business now. Anyone know what caused this?
  14. Same thing today in Sweden. Caches when zoomed out, but no popup descriptions. When zooming in - no caches. And in general - popup descriptions is much harder to get at since previous (?) release of website
  15. Same thing here in Sweden. No caches
  16. Hello, assume I do a search from geocaching.com/seek/, cache name something like "churches in texas". I get a lot of hits and want to download this as a PQ. Is that possible? Or can I only get it as a waypoint file? Regards YXZA
  17. Hello, problem not fixed. Could not create mystery cache had to use workaround, which worked.
  18. Hi all, we all know that when a cache has been found and logged it turns to the wonderful smiley. A nice feature I would like to see is, if a mystery cache is solved but not yet found, I could tell geocaching.com to change the colour of the question mark from blue to green e.g. Would make it easy to see which mysteries have been solved and "just" have to be found and logged.
  19. Hello, Google maps, thanks. Very nice. But Openstreet map showed me county borders (or whatever they are in the States). Valuable when caching all counties in a State. Google Maps does not show it. Too bad. Do I have to get a Non Premium account as well to see OpenStreet Maps?
  20. Hello, thanks alot. Finally. Been pondering over this for a long time. The interface leaves a lot to ask for. It's not 100% selfexplaining. A bit messy to say the least. (And not talking about GSAK. Great tool, but the GUI - yeacchh) Regards YXZA
  21. Hello, I create a PQ and want it to include all caches found by me, with a radius definitely large enough and with no specific attributes included/excluded. The PQ is created, but - there are always a number of caches missing, somewhere around 15. What am I missing? Could it be archived caches that are missing? Anyone got a good explanation? Regards YXZA
  22. Hello, I usually print out a part of the map before I go out caching in a certain area. In order to ease the trip I write down the GC code on each cache on print out. It would be nice to have an option (button) that says "Show GC code on each visible cache". The print out would automagically contain what I want. Regards YXZA
  23. Couldn't have said it better! Those new maps suck big time!!! Google Maps had a lot more detailed info on walking paths through parks or forests, not to mention the aerial views and topo maps. The new map is way too slow, it takes ages to refresh when you zoom in on a point (which basically you don't need to do anymore since there is no detail anyway)... And I've tried this at home on my computer, I really don't want to know how long it'll take on my iPhone when I'm outdoors... I'm sorry to say this, but this was a downdate rather than an update. It's been asked already, I know: wouldn't it be possible to make the use of Google Maps a premium member only feature? +5
  24. From the Huffington Post: "According to Apple Insider, the company says the charge will only affect .35% of users as websites won't be charged until they get 25,000 Google Maps clicks in one 24-hour period. After they've reached this quota, businesses will be charged $4 per 1,000 clicks according to BBC News." So, if my math serves me right, according to Groundspeak's estimate of 2,000,000 hits per day, we're talking about $8,000 per day in fees to Google, or approaching $3,000,000 per year. Only Groundspeak knows the number of premium members, but they tell us there are over 5 million registered cachers. If you assume only 10% are premium members (high? low?), you would be talking about a $6.00 increase per year to cover the cost of the Google service. I'd pay it. Of course, I would think that there would be ways to greatly limit that number of hits by changing the default, only giving Google Maps to premium members, etc. This, this, and this!!! A thousand times, this!!! There are so many other solutions rather than rolling out this turd of an update. Up the Premium cost $5 and only allow Premium members to access Google Maps, for one. This OSM garbage is terrible. From a Wikipedia article on CloudMade: "CloudMade recorded a loss for 2008 of £1,426,585, with a loss for 2009 of a further £2,149,259. On October 5, 2010, OpenStreetMap founder and CloudMade cofounder Steve Coast resigned from all positions within the company. In November, Steve announced that he had accepted a position as Principal Architect at Microsoft's Bing Mobile." Looks like we just jumped onto a sinking ship with both feet. Please give us the opportunity to choose to pay for a superior product. +5
