  1. 4 penguins, none being eaten, and 7 new coins for you.
  2. Caching days total 12. Streak of 10 days.
  3. Ride a horse, preferably an Aussie native like a Brumby!
  4. Another day, another guess... Nine caching days for your trip, streak of nine days!
  5. You'll cache for 13 days and your streak will be 12 days.
  6. Yes, first I would upgrade-that software was a huge improvement. Then I would stop using the cigarette lighter. An expert pointed that out as a potential cause of my issues. I wish I had known that sooner. I did get Magellan to replace all of mine(so I have an extra, having bought it before I knew they would replace the last one!). I don't remember a password so you might have the wrong download site. Even if the warranty is up, it's worth doing, and if the problem is bad enough, they might replace it. I have had no trouble with mine since I stopped connecting them to external power, but it's only been a couple of months. I will say that mine got lots of mileage(2000 caches in that time), but they were protected.
  7. Are you running 2.15? I have had 3 of these units since 2011. The last one seems to have had a problem with the satellite chip and was replaced(but not before I bought a replacement since it was out of warranty). The one before that had fatal errors and memory issues. They have gotten a lot of use and did well most of the time once I put 2.15 on them(less crash prone than previous software). I had one hang on startup like yours, but reinstalling everything fixed it. I did read that using external power supplies(such as in a vehicle)can mess things up with these, so I haven't connected the most recent two to DC power.
  8. Yippee for the winners-I'm especially happy to see my local Gdyup win!
  9. For me, I only use brand new Eneloops that are fully charged... Magellan told me it was the SIRF chip. And, I never had intermittent problems-fine one day, then never got signal again.
  10. (quoted wrong person) That's odd... I recently had nearly the exact thing happen. Cached with no problems, turned my GC back on and it never got a signal again no matter what I did. I reinstalled 2.15, did a hard reset, tried everything I could think of and everything Magellan could think of. Eventually they replaced it, saying something about the... hope yours has a better outcome than mine did! It was only 5 months old. I had a bad interval of having no GPSr(including the day it didn't get signal-was on my way to do a bunch of puzzles!)in the meantime. Now, I'm trying out another GPSr and am thinking of selling the replacement eXploristGC.
  11. Sent you a PM and didn't hear back, so contact me through my profile if you're interested. May have a Magellan eXploristGC to sell, very inexpensively.
  12. It seems that we might need another GPSr. I'll entertain trade offers-we have an eXploristGC now so I would take that as a partial trade, or let me know what you have...
  13. I'll bite, being a former hockey player: Ladies' Gold: Canada Ladies' Silver: Russia Ladies' Bronze: USA Mens' Gold: Canada Mens' Silver: USA Mens' Bronze: Norway
  14. My other half uses one of these as a caching lumbar pack so thought someone else might do the same. It has nice compartments and is designed to be comfortable as it distributes the weight of the contents. Makes a great small all-day bag for an extended hike. Made in USA and holds 1872 cubic inches. Brand new in shipping box. Red. Here is a photo and the details: http://www.gear911.com/product.php?productid=16142&cat=0&page=1 Asking $70 plus $20 shipping unless you are in New England, in which case we might be able to meet in person.
  15. Off the top of your head, can you tell me where that option to "view child waypoints" of a particular cache is now? I thought it was hitting "menu" when viewing the cache detail page, but everything I tried yielded no option. I am positive that the cache I was looking at had multiple child waypoints loaded in my unit at the time(I found them by looking in my waypoints). I can't find the answer in a search. I successfully did this before upgrading, but not since, and I am not sure how I accessed it before.
  16. The OP says that the cache has "multiple coordinates listed". I thought it might be one of those where you have to visit more than one location to get started(we have some multis like that here: find 1 waypoint for N coordinates, and another waypoint for W coordinates). Or, maybe there are "questions to answer" that require more than one stop. If it's a "standard" multi(you begin with only 1 set of coordinates to go to for the cache and the rest are hidden), yes, you'll need to go to the listed starting coordinates and then enter the coordinates you find there as a new waypoint. I hope we didn't confuse you!
  17. If you downloaded a .gpx file for the cache(or you have a pocket query including the cache), there should have been waypoints with it if the CO was kind enough to enter them rather than just typing them in the listing. That means that if you go into Waypoints on your device, you'll find entries containing part of the GC number that go with the listing. For instance, a cache with the GC# "GCXXX" could have waypoints like "PKXXX" and "THXXX" which would be parking and trailheads for that cache. I find that's the easiest way to browse the waypoints to see which go with the cache you're interested in. There is a way to "view child waypoints" from the Geocache view on your device(bringing up just the waypoints you want), but I can't find it since I upgraded to 2.15. Odd. If you don't have these waypoints downloaded, the previous poster is right: go to Waypoints, click menu, then "create new waypoint" then "coordinates" and enter them. Save and go. I hope this helps!
