  1. Hmm, that might work, I wonder how accurate that would be. Right now all I have for personal use is a Lowrance GO2 which is pretty basic. I want to be able to take the waypoints and make them into shapefiles for making my own maps. I work in the field occassionally here at work and we have really nice trimble geoxts and geoxhs but those are way out of my personal spending range. I also don't need something that is subfoot, but i would like it to be pretty accurate. Ill have to check out some garmin units i guess. thanks!
  2. Ok, I am looking to get a new gps unit, that can save points and easily download them to the computer and be able to save or transfer the files into .shp files. I work as a GIS specialist for an engineering firm but I have only used high end trimble units. Not something I can afford, anyone have a suggestion?
  3. Try some thing like this but get the right pinout from my previous post and dont consider soldering to your ifinder go2 or you will probably end up melting the case around these contact! here a link for credit card type connector: http://www.jens-seiler.de/etrex/datacable.html and the program i use to transfer waypoint: http://www.gpsu.co.uk/ ahhh...i see glad i asked thanks, ill be trying that tomorrow!
  4. ok, im going to try making one of these. anyone have anyidea on how to make a good connection to the go2? i don't really want to solder the wire connections to the device, but i guess i could if i had to. i cant think of any other way of doing it though...any ideas?
  5. has anyone bought any of these cables and tried them out? i would be very interested in this if it is for sure to be true...anyone?
