  1. I have found Berkely Cal to have many of those. I just drive up and look at the homeowner outside and drive off. Then off to another and I could not believe it was actually inside the pet store??? It said the owners knew it was in there but I decided against going in to look like a dork signing a log inside there store? That towns caches have all been a problem for me. The one in a park I thought would be cool had a homeless guy sitting on the bench it was hidden at eating a sandwich. I try just to go to another town when working there to find my cache for the day.

  2. I just found one that someone had posted a DNF on. The CO said he checked and it was missing and placed a new container with a fresh log. I looked and seen way up in the tree a container and wondered how I would get to it. I ended up grabbing it and the log had all the old signatures. I'm guessing someone put it back up further then anyone expected. There were muggles about so I didn't look for the replacement one.

  3. I think there are spots even in the most popular areas if you look but I do agree that it can be frustrating when you pick a spot and check there is none in the area and do the work only to find out that a puzzle or multi is in the area you already checked. I wish there could be a way to check that without giving up the location of the multi so you could know if it was OK to place one there. Not that they are litter or anything I am sure they are great caches and I want them there but wish I could know it before I try and place one there only to get denied.

  4. My daughter and I are a team on here for now. I made a hide without her and let her find it! However I only logged it as a note because I still think to log it as a find would be kind of lame. Even thought I did have to wait about 20 min of her wandering around to find it. I was wondering if that is what everyone did who looked for it or she was just having some bad luck on it.

Which one? I didn't do all yours yet.

It is this one. She has a few hides out as pink ninja and I have the one so far as blue ninja. Hope you get a chance to find them. Some of ours are nicer then the ones you have found of ours. I hope you can get out someday and find our kayak caches. I am hoping to get out to them this weekend and check to see if they are actually able to hold up to the salt water. I see your name on a lot of the caches we find!

    Blue Ninjas Cache and Release

  5. Great story OP! I have the same thing here with my 13 year old daughter! She loves it. We have always gone and done fun stuff but she is really into this and so am I. I love fishing but burned her out on it at a young age and she don't really want to go but when this came up she was all in. Most of what I like about fishing is just getting out into nature and checking stuff out. I almost never actually keep a fish just catch and release. This gets me out into nature and new places and when I find a hide it gives you that same kind of thrill as catching a fish. It has been really great for us as well!

  6. I'm with the OP however I have not spent a lot of time trying to figure them out. I think it will be a fun new part of the game when I get around to it. I would never let it stop me from wanting to cache though.

You're right. I would still cache. I worded that poorly; what I meant to explain was when I am going to a new area, and it's flooded with puzzles I cannot start, and maybe only one or two "regulars", it detours me away from that specific area of caching.

I kind of figured that was what you were saying. I know how you feel with this.

When you say you don't know any local cachers, I learned about this from from my phone so I don't know anyone anywhere that caches but have quickly made a few friends just by visiting caches and have ran into some finding my new placements or going for the FTF. I try to pay attention to the cache hiders names and the ones who find my caches. If you are in a area like we are there are ones who will stick out. I once in a while send them a message and have became friends with them. Now some message me to. They are playing the same game and most are willing to help out as well as ask questions if they are having a hard time finding one.

That is the main reason I want to figure out one puzzle. The CO said I should go look for it but I cant even begin to figure it out. I actually think I know the area the final would be in but want to figure it out using the puzzle.

  8. We placed out a large full of cool swagg and one of the little girl cachers in our area found it. She went threw all the swagg and decided she wanted our small WarNinjas "We found it" pin! Kind of crazy and cool at the same time.

We also like to find them.

  9. One of the reasons I would not like to see the increase is my daughter and I have been working on some kayak to only caches. We have not placed any yet but hope to this weekend. We are trying to make them really cool! One will be under water and I am hoping it can stay dry in the bay as we have worked hard on it. 4 different containers one inside the other to make sure the log is dry. Most of the cool kind of easy spots to get to have a film can or what ever near shore. If there was a increase we would not be able to place any on the little islands or structures near there. There is one really cool spot we found a structure out in the water that is great for a cache. Many cool spots to hide one as well. However there is a cache on land right near it. Now we are limited to the one end of it. Still great but if we could go anywhere on it we could make one for any boat or what ever but the end that is left would only be accessible by a kayak because of other stuff in the way. I'm still cool with it and we will have fun placing one there and I think it will be a great cache for people out on the water to find but if there was a increase we wouldn't be able to place a cool cache there at all because of the film can someone placed on shore. Anyways I'm just saying a rule to increase the area that a cache can be placed could loose some cool caches because of some not so cool ones and loose some of the fun of the game.

So there is a wet log on shore in a film can preventing a fun kayak experience going out to find cool caches. I can see the point of having them placed further apart but can also see it preventing some fun. JMO

  10. This is something I have been thinking of adding. Not for the walking aspect but for poking around. When caches are hidden under a bush or what ever. When I am in my work truck caching I have grabbed my termite probe and it has helped on a few occasions! I think me walking around with a stick might look funny but this might fit into my backpack and then I can pull it out if needed. It is telescopic so it will fold down small and then I can extend it.

  11. I have done so a few times. I would never take a log no matter how bad it was. I would however leave a new one with it for people to sign if the old one was to bad to use or full. I have changed out a few containers. Only if I have one very similar to the one that was originally there. One was in a hole of a rock and broken into pieces. I put the stuff in the new container and left the old one in there just in case the CO wanted it for some reason. There was one that my daughter picked up and she was not sure if she broke off the last tab of the Lock n Lock. The others were missing. We tied it shut and made a note of it in our log. I seen others complaining about it and I checked the CO page to see he had not been on in a while and this is in a place a new cache could not be put so we got a Lock n Lock and replaced it. We put a note in the log. About a month later the CO said he was out fixing some of his and seen the note and was very thankful and I had also asked if he wanted us to adopt it. He said he really did but then never signed back on. I would say if you have a container like the original it would be a very nice thing for you to do.

  12. I would try everything to work it out with the reviewer before setting it into appeals! That is if you are planning on playing this game for the long run. I have to run all my hide Ideas threw them. I want them on my side not against me. For me it is more of a yes sir/no sir. If one sprinkler head is going to be a problem I would just give up on the idea rather then to make the one publishing my ideas have an eye on me for future hides. I don't think your find count has anything to do with it at all. I published some before that count and had some denied. I know it is not personal they are just trying to do there job. Some came back with reasons they couldn't be published that I could have talked them out of but decided it would not be worth it. Others I just explained why there reason was not right and it was published right away. They can only go off the information they see. I would never want to be in there shoes.

I planned out 6 hides over a period of time and hid them all in one day. All came back denied. At first I was kind of upset but then looked at it from there view. Told them the reasoning for them and got the ones that were OK published. I see they had reasons for them all and are actually really helpful and are only here to help us. When I seen all denied I thought it might be personal but it was not the case.

I know it might be to late but I would go back and try and work it out with the reviewer. They should have a reason. Fix that and all should be golden.

  13. I agree not to get the land owner involved. If they have to worry about it then why would they want to deal with it. Just my opinion. Work it out here. As Far as asking the other cacher to use there spot I would definitely give it a try. 90% of the time if you had a better reason for one there then I did I would let you have it. I have been setting up one for my nephew for a while now and worrie the spot might get taken and he has a good reason for one there. I would hope the other hider would understand and I also would understand if they didn't want to give theirs up. I hid one that another member commented on that they used to have one there and that they wanted the spot. I told them on the cache page and in a email if they really wanted the spot it was not a problem I would archive it. They never replied. Never hurts to ask or if it is a multi you can possibly work around it.

  14. What everyone has posted. We use a back pack. I have found a need for a flashlight. Pen, Plastic bags to help out if a container is wet and extra containers in case the one there is badly broken. Swagg for sure. Maybe some kind of poking stick in case it is under a bush you don't want to stick your hands in.

  15. I can see it now. A cache that is a Ice chest filled with ice and beer and a bison tube for the log. Better get there quick for the FTF or it wont be cold!

Just kidding of course as that would probably not be cool! Even though I think it would be cool I guess I will stick with making my daughters Ideas for Large Princess caches!
