  1. So my daughter came up with this crazy idea she wants to make as a cache. She wants to call it earth sandwich. We would hide a cache here that the container is in the shape of a slice of bread. Then have a cacher on the other side of the world hide one the same and it would be a earth sandwich. We would be willing to ship the container out to them so they would be the same. One problem is the other side of the earth is a ocean but we were thinking maybe Australia or china as everyone thinks of that as the other side of the world so maybe more of a sub type of sandwich. We were hoping to find a active cacher who would maintain it as well. Then put a link to the GC code of the other cache. Maybe someday someone would find both slices or at least dream of it and want to find it. I have looked up a couple of active cachers in those country's and asked but guess the idea is to crazy as they have not responded.

This has been a idea of hers for a while and she brings it up sometimes. Wondering if anyone here knew someone who would think this was a good idea and place one for us? Any good containers that might look like bread or maybe a Lock n Lock with a pic of a slice of bread showing threw the lid. Is this Idea just to crazy to work? Don't know but she thinks it would be cool so I thought I would ask.

  2. I think it is a great idea!

On your original topic of sig items to drop that are not to expensive. Here is what we just did. We had 500 made. It then brings it down to $.20 each. It is kind of expensive to start $100 but if you break it down it is cheep per cache considering you will have many micros you cant drop them off in.

We had some made that were for our caches so someone could have a FTF on a WarNinjas cache and also ones to drop off in the ones we were FTF on. Then other fun ones as well. You could make them up with your team name to represent you friend you lost. Sorry to hear about that.

  3. Most of the hides I make are with my daughter and she prides herself on the bigger ones. At first I liked them as well. Now I don't care as much and she don't either when finding but she always wants to place bigger ones with room for swagg. I like locations and nicely camoed caches. We still try and place out larges when possible!

  4. Since it's an LPC, the answer is most emphatically "Yes", regardless of the yellow jackets😄

But seriously, if you really want this to go away, head into the anchor store where the cache is located. Poke around till you identify several people in management. Find the one who looks the most paranoid. Explain to them that there is a 'deadly danger' present in their parking lot, (widen your eyes for maximum dramatic effect), and that if they allow it to continue, they could be personably liable. Tell them about the cache, and the yellow jackets, whilst hinting at anaphylactic shock. Show them the section of the guidelines which require explicit permission for hides on private property, then ask, with a lowered, secretive tone and many furtive glances, " Were you the one who gave permission for that hide?".

Assuming your acting skills are up to par, you should then be able to post a "Needs Archived" log expressing that the property manager did not authorize the cache, and demands it be removed immediately. Hopefully, your success in this endeavor will motivate you to try the same method on every LPC in your neighborhood. Within just a short time, the average quality of caches local to you will skyrocket.😉

I don't know if this is the right answer! Kind of gives caching a bad name IMO. Still really funny. :anibad: Sure it can be handled without getting everyone upset. I think if the CO is not responding it should be archived without all this mess.

  5. I met one cacher on a FTF and we went out and found some of the other caches on that trail. I told him we should go find some more some time as it was fun to have someone to help with some of the more difficult ones like we were looking for that day. He agreed and said that most of the other cachers were older and a different kind of nerd then he was. I think he was classifying most cachers as nerds. (I know not all cachers are nerds) So maybe most of us are just to white and nerdy.

Here though we have many other races that find our caches and some women also. I do sometimes wonder why on my phone if I look back threw the logs it almost always shows jellis as the FTF? Sometimes I don't think she was FTF but she shows up as the last log I see. Pretty cool!

    Thank you.

You are coming to the 75K Find event right?

When is that? Where is it?

  7. It is a huge advantage in some puzzles as you know a lot of the numbers in the coords to catch a theme. I am always happy to help anyone who wants to figure out one of our puzzles so I would just ask the CO. I agree they are a pain when hiding a cache and have had more caches denied then I like to think about. I just mark it up as part of the game and move on. I would be OK with the game if there was no puzzles but there are some who really like puzzles and only find our puzzle caches.

Once you get one published there is even more things that will probibly frustrate you. It is great fun to see the email of the experience of someone finding your cache though. We have fun with it. Just know there is a lot of work involved at times. It gives you more reason to appreciate a good cache when you find it.

  8. We have a bunch of snapware containers out. They do fine and we got a good deal on them at costcos. Much better then some containers but probibly not as good as a lock n lock but still work out great. The last box of them we bought some of the gaskets were not in right so it was hard to lock but the first box was great. Just painted up some more in camo color.

  9. I have a gps but use my smart phone. I use a app called GPS Averaging and seems to work well. But after I get the coords I go home and double check them on Google Earth. Most times they are good but sometimes they are off and I can correct them on google earth. I know this is not the best way but when I am mapping it on my phone it shows where it would be on google earth and has worked out pretty well. Just my thoughts.

  10. I was shocked when we hit a challenge that was for difficulty and terrain. I thought I had it no problem but was low on terrain. I was able to pick up a high terrain one that same day to just boost me over the number needed. We place many 5 terrain caches and other high ones so I thought it would be higher but keeping the streak going while working I pick up a lot of easy ones. Not really worried about it. I am happy to pick up others terrain ratings with our hides.

  11. As a CO I would like to see if there were DNFs on our caches. I know we should stop by regularly to check them but my daughter likes hiding caches even more then finding them so we have a bunch out. Not always practical to just stop by but will for sure if there is a DNF that we think is legit. I have noticed that after one DNF is posted sometimes others follow even if it is still there. Recently I was lucky as there was a couple of DNFs in a row on one of our easy caches and I was on my way to check it. Then bam a find and now many more after the string of DNFs. I would appreciate it to let some DNFs go by unless you found the cache messed up before logging a NM if you are not sure if it is not there though. Maybe send a message first. I think the DNF shows others searching there might be a problem. The NM button is there so feel free to use it if you feel it is needed.
