  1. Actually I live in Staunton, if you are in this neck of the woods, let me know maybe we an hit a few together.
  2. Looks like Cache Advance is right off of the road. If you go to the geocaching map for that area and zoom in a little, you can see that the others around it appear to be right around the trail. Thank you, It also looks like the Hone Quarry on is on one of the trails we will be using. I am still trying to remember the old bells and whistles and learn the new ones.
  3. 8 years 2 months 10 days. Stopped in April of 2009 due to health and work issues. Back into now
  4. It has been about 7-8 years, since the wife and I cached and weare trying to get back into it. Recently I agreed to be a volunteer for the local scout troop and noticed that there is a Geocaching merit badge, hey kill two birds with one stone. I have two questions: 1) We are going on a hike to to Hone ridge quarry next week. I noticed that there are several caches in the area, are any of them on the hiking trail tot he quarry. 2) Has anyone setup a "Cache to Eagle" can you give me any suggestions? Thanks
  5. Blinker hides are not necessarily cruel hides. Are you saying that these things blink, like an mini beacon?
  6. This isn't a cache it is just a cruel Joke.
  7. Dang I thought that I had come up with an original idea with that Oh well now I need to come with something really devious.
  8. .4 miles. Since the day I started this game/sport/hobby I thought that would be a great spot, but couldn't figure out to do one there. well a 35mm film canister, for a micro did the trick, wish Ihad thought of it first.
  9. If that doesn't work try one of these Well, no, maybe not, but sometimes the idea is appealing! Okay where can I get one of these?
  10. We began this about a year ago, and now we are adopting several kids, The best thing we found was the expression on their faces when we found the cache. They get the biggest kick out of walking through the woods looking for these things.
  11. Thank you for yourservice to our country. I have been out for over 20 years, but have a good friend who has just gotten back from his second (and hopefully last) tour. he is a loadmaster for C-130's. We used to tease him that it must be nice to be above all the action until we realized that he was the guy standing by the open door when they were doing special force insertions and extractions. Talk about pucker factor. Once again thank you and keep your head down.
  12. Are you the guy that sells those home vasectomy kits?
  13. Those are good choices, but the wife picked up two for us from Wally World, for about $10 each. Very sturdy for the price and they have a compass on top. the collapse down to about 18 inches and open up to over 4 ft.
  14. Being new to the sport I was under the impression that like playing golf when you hit a hole in one you are supposed to buy a round of drinks for the forum when you hit a milestone. If this isn't a rule maybe it should be...., just thinkiong out loud here.
  15. Got into this sport about 8 months ago with the wife. Found about 6 or 7 caches and DNF'ed about the same. A couple of months ago we began the process to adopt a couple of kids, and we wanted to get them into it as well. We went looking for several near us with no luck due to weather other factors. Last week end we took the kids to a Cache that we knew for certain was there. We let the kds find it and logged our visit and swapped a couple of things. I noted our visit on the site but did not call it a find. Was this okay? We did it becasue we wanted the kids to have a couple of successes. If you all think it was wrong let me know I will delete the log note.
  16. If you had been abducted how would you know?
  17. The trophy Geo wife got us a couple of them from walmart and they were $10 each. They have a compass and are pretty sturdy. Onbly thing is they are all red.
  18. I played golf for 2 years. I was worse when I quit than when I started, becasue I began to care to much about it. I would come home yell at the wife and dog and be in a foul mood all day. So much for relaxing to lower my blood pressure. On the other hand as of now I only have 5 finds to my name, but I get out in the woods and do a lot of walking. That is relaxing, and the dogs and wife can come with me with out fear of getting yelled at.
  19. (this doesn't make me a geek - or does it?) Replies that come to mind in random order. 1) Do you have your GPSr attached to your belt next to your graphing calculator? 2) Do you have more computers in your house then people? 3) All of your friends have asked you to be their "phone a friend" 4) The pocket protector is not a fashion statement 5) Did you need a calculator to figure out the answer? Of course that makes you a geek, along with most of the rest of us. Now if you send me $30 I will teach you the secret geek handshake.
