  1. It's called W is for Wherigo, in Fairfield Calif http://www.Wherigo.com/cartridge/details.aspx?CGUID=fa74c8bd-3b5f-4199-8cdc-e82513a96863
  2. This is the first time I've seen this: Whilst playing a cartridge, and going to a location, the location suddenly disappears! If there had been prior locations, they all disappeared too. This happened several times, but almost randomly. I had to start all over. However, I found that if I regularly saved the game, I wouldn't have to go all the way back to the beginning.
  3. looking forward to this. Never cached in Washington.
  4. Using Earwigo, which works very well. My first cartridge, "The Prisoner" is up and running and well-received. Working on my 2nd cartridge, "Sub Attack," which includes sounds, and local cachers as the crew. I like using dialogs, but since they don't have any type of "events," it seems their use is limited to only very specific circumstances. Appears that once your start a dialog, impossible to trigger anything afterwards. I think the user just has to leave the zone (or proximity.) I believe the Ranger has documented this limitation. So, if I need any sort of other interaction--e.g., sounds, any other things to happen in conjunction with some talk, I should not a dialog, but instead a message. The only other thing I can thing of, is to start a timer before I launch the dialog, then could indirectly start-up some other events. Do I have this right?
  5. Thanks jonny65. I think that's good news. But how did you test your design if the emulator keeps crashing?
  6. Attached small mp3 files (10 sec length) just fine in earwigo. Have them go off on zone entry or exit, or after button push. In emulator, first one works okay, but with a few mp3's in different zones, emulator crashes at random places. Doesn't seem consistent. Aargh! I wanted to make the Wherigo experience be like an audio tour (as opposed to reading text), but this seems impossible. Any way around this?
  7. Wondering how others handle this: I want audio to play approx same time as message displayed. However, I think trying to do both simultaneously is a problem. (Or is that possible?) So, I have audio play when entering a zone, and also start a countdown timer (1 sec). Upon timer tick event, I then display the message. Seems to work well. Is this how others handle audio with text, or am I making this too complicated?
  8. The completion code is a system variable. You need to add some code to display it. The way I have done it is: when I mark the cartridge as complete, I also put an item called "Completion Code" in their inventory - and show them a message telling them that it is there. On the "Completion Code" item I have an action "Get Code", which includes this dialog message: [[Your completion code is: ]] .. Player.CompletionCode .. [[. Please use the first 15 characters of it on Wherigo.com to unlock the cartridge]] You could just do this as one off dialog message without the item; I like the item as they can go back and look at it later. Very helpful. I like the idea of moving the item to their inventor. But not sure what you mean, you "have an action." Do you mean an event? (I am using Earwigo.) For a newbie, can you clarify?
  9. Thanks. Very helpful and exactly the info I needed!
  10. I believe I understand what the code is for, and the business about the 15-digits. I'm testing a trial cartridge with 4 zones, (built using earwigo). All works well, except just got blank for the cc. Also got a blank using my wife's android. If my code is right, will the emulator spit-out a code? Or does the code only appear for an "official" cartridge uploaded to Groundspeak?
  11. Wow! Really looks great! Please move them all from Fort Collins to SF bay area!
  12. Here is our latest Arduino cache just released yesterday, "The Machine: A Shocking Revelation." I don't want to spoil things for any of the locals, but the video on the cache page may give a hint. http://coord.info/GC3PBAV
  13. geocaching.com does allow reverse geocaches and there are 4 of then in British Columbia. Savant9 has listed 2 of them which are mine. GC2NPQQ GC274MK I also have a hangman game puzzle cache based on an Arduino - the cacher finds the hangman game and if they beat the hangman the lcd displays the final coordinates. GC2W9AG. I got the idea from this project I have a public list of Arduino based geocaches here. Can I add yours to it? Team K1W1
