  1. Am buying one for my dad. Is currently beating TigerGPS's $209 price. Plus Amazon right now has free shipping.
  2. Is it really necessary to mention a can of worms.
  3. I just became a premium member for a month so I could try out all the features and see if I liked them. I ran my first pocket query but haven't received the results yet. Basically I asked for all caches within 25 miles of my zip code that I haven't found. I asked it to run once and then delete so I didn't choose a day of the week. I asked for the results to be emailed to me. Anyway, I haven't received the email. When can I expect it?

    Site Down?

I'm in by avoiding the homepage. Try www.geocaching.com/pocket and navigate from there. Some is up and some is down.
  5. Is there a way to tell my software which waypoints to upload and which ones to just leave in my map software? I would like to have all geocaches in my area in MapSource but only upload those I want to hunt for or have in for quick excursions. Haven't yet been able to tell if it's possible. Thanks,
  6. map detail was set to medium. I set to highest and see a lot more. Will this affect what's in my GPS?
  7. I just got my Legend C and teh MapSource TOPO US. Everything has worked together just fine. However, I noticed today that the map doesn't show a major highway (4-lane) that goes through my town that was built in 1985/86. Are there updates online for the maps? I wasn't asked to unlock anything, do I need to unlock to get all the detail? The topo doesn't seem super detailed. Is there a different view for detail? How far apart are the topo lines? Can I copy the CDs to my hard drive and run them from there? Also, should I install updates for my firmware? Everything has went pretty smoothly. This is my first GPS or experience with maps so I don't know what to expect. Thanks,
  8. Ok. After bugging you guys to death for the past week I just purchased the Legend C from TigerGPS. Got it for $209 (went locally to Dick's Sporting Goods. It was $349!). Also bought the USA TOPO and cigarette lighter cable. Now that I will have a GPS I'll have to figure out some other questions to bug you with. Thanks for all your help and advice.
  9. Are there plans by Garmin to put expandable memory slots into their eTrex line?
  10. I've decided color would be nice so I've narrowed down my choices to the LegendC, VistaC or Explorist 500. They are all close in price if you count the $50 rebate from Magellan. This will be my first GPS. Which would you buy if this were your choice?
  11. Was reading about these. A lot of people have recommended the Legend C but I haven't heard much about the Vista C. The Vista C has an electronic compass. I assumed all GPSs had a compass. Is this not standard? Why is Legend C recommended so much more?
  12. I have heard recommendations for the explorist series, especially the 210/400 and also for the legend c. What are the pros/cons of Magellan vs. Garmin? Is color very important? Is expandable memory important? the legend c has none but the 400 does. Is it worth it? I know I'm asking a lot of question about this but I will buy within the next week and don't want to make a dumb choice. Any recommendations are welcome.
  13. The $250 does not have to include the software. I just want the unit to be capapble of doing auto-routing.
  14. BTW, I live in the Appalachians and there is a lot of tree/leaf cover. I need a unit that gives me the best chance of keeping a signal in this type environment.
  15. I am looking at buying my first unit. Will be for hiking/fly-fishing and geocaching. Auto-routing would be nice as we do travel some. I have to be able to load area maps. I can spend around $250. Am willing to go up or down a little to get a good fit for my needs. Yesterday I asked about the eXplorist 210 vs. 400. I had narrowed down to these two but thought the better question might be what unit would you recommend in this price range for me? Thanks.
  16. I do not currently own a GPS unit. I have wanted one for a while for hiking and fly-fishing purposes and then stumbled upon geocaching which seems to fit perfectly with my love for hiking. I would like a unit I can upload maps to and auto-routing would be nice. Trying to figure out the 210 vs. 400 issue especially since the 400 is only about $40 more with rebate. Thoughts? Has anyone tried the 210? Also, I noticed a link for a 600 for $289.00 at this link. Is this possible? Is this a reputable dealer? Definite newbie here so any advice is appreciated.
