  1. As GO Geiger said, "Please note that I do not cache with a smartphone, use a smartphone on a regular basis, or even own a smartphone. I have no intention to do any of the aforementioned things at any time in the foreseeable future and am frankly getting pretty tired of the "appification" of user interfaces." I use a GPSr that I bought for geocaching and I absolutely have no desire to buy a smartphone for any reason. That said, I try not to just shut down new things just because they are new...but this new update just doesn't work for me. The icon colors aren't good and the sizes don't work for me either. I don't have the eyesight of a 20 year old any more and trying to read the micro print & images in the icons is just horrid. Sorry, but the old icons worked so much better. New is new, but not always improved!
  2. Thank you!!! I will certainly give it a try. (Windows 10 just ate my media player. Oy.)
  3. I am having the worst time with Windows 10. Alas, my old Vista machine died around the New Year and I had to replace it. Now I can't get any caches to download. My eTrex 20 won't even complete downloading waypoints...gets stuck on 99%. The old eTrex HC was sort of working (if I ignored the non-compatibility warnings). The moment we downloaded Basecamp the HC now acts like it is downloading, but the info isn't actually there. I am using iexplorer (like the person at Garmin said to). Evidently Edge(?) is a total fail. Anyone else experience this kind of problem? Anyone have a cure? Sorry, I don't have enough money to buy a Mac...
  4. Hi, I am trying to get used to a 310, but the font size was designed for someone with the vision of a 25 year old...not 55. Am I doomed to wear my reading glasses in the woods, or can the font somehow be enlarged? Thanks!
  5. Eww. Thanks for the info!
  6. Hi, What happens when an old established cache with a history of finds gets reworked with new, different stats or size? Does that change a cacher's stats from the old find or do they remain the same? Thanks!
  7. Very interesting! The system that fails is Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Version 2002, Service Pack 3. I'm not sure what version of Internet Explorer. I borrowed another system just long enough to check and it seems to be fine in Windows Vista Home Premium via Internet Explorer. Unfortunately I have no ability to print from this second system. Thanks!
  8. OMG! I just gotta say, I have one TB that has auto-visited over 500 caches (that's 50 pages of logs) in just over one month by one cacher! Well, that TB has Arizona covered!
  9. When I choose to preview the map of one of my PQs (any of them), it will momentarily (just for a second) flash a map of the caches, but then immediately goes to a regional map of the state, lacking all caches. Even when zooming in on this map fails to reveal any caches and there seems to be no way to return to the correct map. This has happened with PQs in both Florida and Arizona. I haven't tried other states. Help? Thanks!
  10. Thanks, gang! I attempt to remind myself that there is no knowing what the other person's situation may be. Life can get complicated. Delays are sometime unavoidable. But that said, I do find some dismay in that so many trackables go unlogged or simply go missing. Logging is so remarkably easy.
  11. I know this question has been asked before, but short of digging through pages of back topics... I have a TB that was retrieved back in January and the log happily stated the cacher had good intent of moving it northward. (I do believe that the intentions were indeed good and true.) The problems comes in that no further logs have been made, not even an auto-visit {unlike another of my TBs that has received some 8 pages of auto-visits in under a month (!!!)}, let alone a Drop. How long should I wait before sending a polite e-mail asking if they truly still have the TB? Many thanks!
  12. Bless! Thank you, good folk! Got it! (Doh!)
  13. This evening I sat down and thought about some of the caches I have found over the last 8 months. I have given out 'favorites' before, but have a number that I have never issued. Today being Leap Day, I thought perhaps it would be nice to go back and give some favorites to caches that I found memorable over the long haul, but didn't award right away. So I chose 2 caches, posted a note to the cache and made sure that I selected the "Add to Favorites" box. The note posted...and the Favorite didn't! I tried editing the note, but the Add to Favorites option no longer showed. I tried adding a second note, and no Favorites option was given. Now, a few hours later, I have completely deleted the original notes and e-mailed the COs apologizing. So, what the hey? Is there a time limit on issuing Favorites from the date of the original find? Or what am I not understanding? Thanks for helping!
  14. HTTY...It had to do something with the trail being difficult, I think, but I don't know the real translation.... ("Happy Trails" would be nice, though...)
  15. If someone would be so kind as to remind me, what does the following mean: HTTY I didn't see it in the GC glosary. Thanks for the help! (Anyone want to make this s "Sticky" topic?)
  16. It takes forever to load and the graphics don't add that much info! The old map was just fine.
  17. Would it be possible to list prices? Thanks!
  18. Hmmm... This sounds like the basis for a good experiement. Suggestion: Release an equal number of real geocoins and well-made proxies (say three or four) in the same area at the same time. Then watch the travels and posts for each group. It would be interesting to see if indeed the actual geocoins receive better posts and handling. If you have the problem of a sense of 'cheating' by releasing the proxies, I don't think there would be any harm in posting on the coin's page, 'This proxy was released as part of an experiment.' That would at least let people know why you were releasing a proxy. I would offer to conduct the experiment, but to be honest, it's too rich for my wallet right now.
  19. Two favorite trackables that I've transported thus far were geocoin proxies. One was a handcrafted wooden replica; the other was a laminated dedication to a family pet. Both were memorable and enjoyable.
  20. Done, small but hopefully meaningful.
  21. Redirected a negative and made a positive...so mark that as one big one for the day.
