  1. same thing happened to me: dropped a travel bug today, but when I wanted to log it, I realized it was not in my inventory. I realize I should have grab it , but I can't since I don't havé the secret number anymore. Si, if I understand well, it's Lost I feel so bad!
  2. Ah, I feel so stupid. But now I understand. Thank you so much!
  3. Thank you so much for your quick responses. I am sorry, I should have been clearer, the coordinates I gave were examples, to see the format, no the actual coordinates of the cache. I tried a couple of places, and I was always off, so I thought the actual coordinates didn't really matter. Having verify that my GPS for in the right datum, I looked again at the different formats, and tried the third (and last) option that I had, and it worked. The coordinates that I had originally were noted as degree/minutes/seconds: N 45° 32.093 W 073° 27.031 I changed it to the other option: degree/minutes: N 45° 32.155 W 073° 27.052, and now Google show the place where I hid the cache. Yeee! Would you mind explaining this to me? Now, just by looking at them, it looks like the same format. But the number are different. How do I know by looking at a set of coordinates, which format is used? How come my GPS was bringing me at the right place when I was looking for a cache, if I was using the "wrong" format? I was not entering them manually, so I guess the files indicates which format, but still, I am a little bit confused. Thanks again.
  4. Hi everyone, So, after years that I wanted to start geocaching, I finally bought a gps and went several time with my familly. We loved it and after a while, and after doing some research, we wanted to try and hide our first cache. My sons were very exited about it. But before I logged it, I thought I would do a test in Google to see if the coordinates I recorded would bring me at the right place. I was way off. I mean, a couple street corners off. The coordinates on my GPS were that format: 37 23.516 -122 02.625 and I noticed on this website, they were like this, N 45° 32.115 W 073° 26.965, so I tried to convert the numbers. Same results. I tried to take the measurements again, with the new format, same result. So I researched a bit, and went back to take the coordinates, trying to get an "average" by walking with a good pace towards the cache from different direction. The numbers were fairly similar. But I was still way off in Google. So, I am obviously doing something wrong, but what? I tried to find some information on the subject, but nothing helped so far. Any suggestion? Thanks in advance.
