  1. Funny that one of the exe's in our software package (Real Estate market) was showing, after we compiled one of the daily builds, as one of the Banker virus variants. We ended up rearranging some atributes in the code and it fixed the false positive. It was quite the scare around the office until it was figured out to be a false positive...
  2. I never got any e-mail message about the magazine, either from GC.com or from anywhere else. This in spite of the fact that my personal e-mail address is listed in my profile. I learned about the new magazine from this message thread. For me this is evidence (not proof) that GC.com didn't provide Geocacher Magazine with e-mail addresses. --Larry I was thinking more of scraping the profile pages, not coming from Groundspeak themselves.
  3. I haven't gotten any though geocaching.com or myspace where I belong to Geocacher Magazine's MySpace Group. The question was for those that did get the email, not for those that didn't and therefore aren't able to provide an answer to the question that was asked. I got the email, but it wasn't through geocaching, as it didn't have the [geo] tag. What I want to know, is how they got my email address? My email is not published anywhere online that it is visible, other than my profile page here at gc.com. My first reaction is that they screen scraped email addresses from the profiles at this site. I know I didn't sign up for any spam from them, and their email went right into the trash and spam filter.
  4. I'm sure (quite rightly) action would be taken if scraping was noticed, but they wouldn't be able to notice Joe Blogg's doing this, he'd just look like any other non-member person accessing the website Unless he has the same IP address. I'm sure GS logs all IP addresses.
  5. Please PM me with the travel bug tracking numbers and the information that you were unable to input and I'll be happy to fix them for you. This will hopefully also allow me to reproduce the error you guys are having. This goes for anyone else, too. You can reply here if you prefer, just give me the public TB ID instead of the tracking number. Thanks. PM Sent thanks!
  6. The Allegheny GeoTrail Website will have the most up to date information, and also has the phone number to the ORA office, so that you can call ahead of time... Linky
  7. We will be there...wouldn't miss our first Mega Event...We're all glad you guys liked the video...
  8. Another one getting the same issue here, with a couple geocoins. I sent an email to GS, and they had a ticket open and every couple days or so, I was told try it again until this happened 4 or 5 times over a few weeks...The last email from them was sorry I couldn't help, the developers know about the issue, there's nothing more I can do... Well when people pay good money for these things, they should work...it's getting quite irritating...any word from TPTB???
  9. I have the same issue. The problem also lies that the trackable doesn't have a Start date or Origin State. I had an issue with GS and the last one I got was that they were unable to resolve the issue, but the development team is working on it... It really sucks when you pay for a coin or tb and can't actvate it properly...and then tech support is of no help. I even just asked them to update the fields in the DB, and they won't do that for whatever reason...
  10. I'd like to put my $0.05 in on this one. I agree with TooTallJohn for the same exact reasons...I occationally used the older function to pretty much look at all the archived caches in the area, to make sure they were not left as geo-trash. The other reason, was to see what was out there, and what worked or didn't work... I vote to bring it back...(although it probably won't do much good)
  11. That's what I suggested as well....see previously the "green smiley" comments. I saw the Green smiley...my suggestion was not to have another stat. That just makes something else for the numbers hunters to go for (and conversely the others to say it's not about the number, blah, blah, blah)...if it's for the "good of the sport" than it shouldn't need a seperate stat...
  12. I do not like the idea of mandatory and/or automatically archiving caches, period. I have a cache that was placed in mid-July that has been found twice (within the first 2 weeks of it being published) and hasn't been found since then. Is it a problem that it hasn't been found? I don't think so...I also see no need to hike back down to the cache site just to maintain it. One could argue that that type of cache maintains itself since it gets so few visitors... The issue with geo-trash could be aleviated (although not a problem in my area) by having another log option that would be set by a reviewer to have someone go out and retrieve the cache or trash before it's archived. This doesn't have to be a new type of smiley or stat, just another find it log, note or dnf before archiving it...
  13. 42 - Caching the Allegheny GeoTrail (1 geocoin for completing each county)
  14. Congratulations!! Doing sixty caches in 6 days in ten counties is quite an accomplishment! In fact, you may be the first to complete the series! Does anyone know for sure? I know that the AGT series has been a real boost to the area. Lots of new cachers, and many cachers coming from other areas, not to mention the locals renewed interest. I met Tammy 526 and Danh2 at Justis View on my next to the last Cache for completion. We had a great little chat. I also ran into them on my last Cache to complete the AGT series on Saturday Nov. 3rd. The BEER WELL. I know that the Carels completed the AGT at least a week ago and the PA Wingers have completed it too. Not sure how many others have. These are a few friends, that I know, that have completed it. Thanks H2Obob for your bookmark list. It was a great help. It would be kinda nice to have a list of the people that have completed the AGT though. Wonder how we would get that on the AGT page? We got 3 counties left, and we are knocking one of them out this weekend...I think we will be done by the end of November...it's been fun, We got a lot of new counties and grid spaces for the All County and DeLorme challenges... We also plan on trying to get all the caches (20) for each county next spring/summer...
  15. Yes. If that is what the cache owner wants, then yes. Not all caches are easy. Some people would love that cache. My bet is that it is logged regularly. If you consider 12 times only this year so far regularly then ok. I think that speaks for itself! I have a cache logged less than that, and I call that a success...it's a toughie and that's why the find count is low.
  16. Try making a post on the Tri-Go Yahoo user group. There's quite a bit of people from that area that may be able to help you out.
  17. I got it when trying to activate a geocoin. Was stuck on page 2 of the activation, so now my coin doesn't have a release date or state... grrr. I submitted it to Groundspeak, and they said try again... When I did, I got the same error. let them know about it, then nothing...grrr
  18. I don't know what to tell you, other than my Letterbox that was approved after the guidelines change. I had parking listed, but the starting coords were ~1 hike into the woods to the start of a trail that branched off another. From there, I had the letterbox instructions. From what I can tell, there is no difference from my cache (the letterbox) to a Mystery other than it has the Letterbox stamp in it.
