  1. @cattivikkio Did you try it? I was thinking the same as you -- be nice to have the pre-load updated for unplanned new areas, and have it refreshed/updated for archived/myfinds for local areas (or even just remove local areas entirely, use my PQs instead). I'd be interested in hearing what your results were. Another alternative, that would work for me, if I could get it to work -- change out the icons on my PQs so at least where there is a PQ loaded I can distinguish between my PQ and the preloads. I haven't been able to get that to work either - or find a forum link. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
  2. Agreed! It completes the support of offline caching. Don't assume I can aways take the time to post my log. It may be a day or two before I can sit down and do that. When I'm really going to be off line, I can't affort the battery time to do a field note. Thanks!
  3. Is there any way to set the default back to Original Maps with the working PQ results-only display? I'd prefer to keep using that over messing with Beta Maps until they get this fixed. There are just too many caches cluttering the display when I want to plan/focus on my PQ results without the distraction.
  4. I had a slighlty different experience today -- is this reported somewhere? anyone seen it? I was creating a route from Ajax, ONT to Franklin, PA. The route looked correct, so I created the pocket query. Two problems. 1. It found no caches, although I asked for all within a mile, up to 200. 2. When displaying the map of the pocket query results it showed a path from Ajax, ON to Grand Bend, in a big sine wave -- no roads there!
  5. I was creating a PQ for a lost & found and surrounding traditional and multi-caches, when I noticed that a PQ that uses selected cache types won't pick up Lost and Found events, even when you tick event cache type. A query with all cache types worked. Glad I noticed before we got going on the road trip!
  6. Did you try the compatibility feature for IE8? I've been thinking of upgrading too - but spend a bit of time on a few key sites (this one included) -- would like to know I have some options, especially given the mixed experience.
  7. We submitted our comments. We are not a big fan of micros in the woods and this policy is designed to create them (micros make sense in urban areas, but not when you have acres of space). We're Ok with it but, there are some limitations that seem a bit much: - only steel & aluminum -- what's wrong with new plastic? - no trade items -- coins are pretty inert! (our kids who are currently only interested in traditionals with trade items -- this will be a problem for us) - no mention if tags are allowed for multis - no timeline for approvals or appeals process if a cache is declined - sticking to the trail? that's a restriction other visitors don't have (in the back country there are no trails) We could accept these restrictions to enable caching within a Park -- since we currently can't cache there now. However, I guess my biggest concern is if this policy gains momentum and we see similar restrictions on more and more land (I know their land their rules, but it's unfortunate). While the journey & destination may be its own reward for some, for others on our team the reward is just as important.
  8. Here's the address for the concert in Ottawa: Scotiabank Place 1000 Palladium Dr. Kanata, Ontario K2V 1A5 CANADA Scotiabank Place is in the suburbs of Ottawa, and there's lots of green space nearby. Between the postal coda and a satellite look up on a few maps and you'll find lots in the bush! Some examples nearby include: Ruined? by The Burrow (GCR7PA) Many a Stump! by Breezeman (GCM7EF) Wish List! by spunsister (GCHFDH) GAG7 Aragog's Lair by fireflyfan (GCQX6V) Snowshoe Run by Griffindog (GCHN7Y) GAG7 - Morgan's Stop by The Burrow (GCQTZ0) Geeks Only by stone_soup and Roswell.fr (GCG7TE) Rideau - Lime Kiln by WannerClan (GC86DA) BTW, most Ottawa area caches will be in English or bilingual. Enjoy your visit. It’s a great city.
