  1. Yep, I think that is correct. Guess they're just a collectors item.
  2. Didn't know that. Not sure if they have a "tracking code" or not, but each have their own number. That said, my caching days are over (bad knees) and if anyone is interested, I have 4 or 5 I would sell. Message me with an offer. CJ
  3. Whatever happened with the original Oregon Geocoins? At first they were trackable and now they don't appear to be. I still have a few "uncirculated" from the "original" batch we had made in 2003.
  4. Yeah, someone else mentioned this to me also. I don't really know as I have been out of it too long, but if anyone does know.....please respond. Regardless, these are a cool collectible! CJ
  5. That's the issue....I'm not sure what they are worth? Care to make an offer? I'd love to purchase two if the price is reasonable!!! PM me...thanks
  6. I have a few of the very first Oregon Geocoins minted from 2003 and wondered where the best place to sell them would be. Not looking to gouge anyone, but would like to get as much as I could of course. They are trackable and have never been activated. Would eBay be the best avenue or another site? We have been out of geocaching for quite a while and don't intend to launch these. Capt. Jack & 1st Mate
  7. ....and there's this one Island of the Spirits
  8. I can't seem to find a way to enlarge the text in "my controls" like was in the old one. Am I missing something?
  9. Saw these guys a few hundred feet from a cache.
  10. Harley and Maggie, 9 mos. & 7 mos. Yorkies. They haven't joined Max the black geodog on a hunt yet, but might soon. Cute, huh?
  11. I might have an extra one around that I would trade for a different geocoin. E me...................
  12. Our first to find was also the first find on the cache. 336 finds later, I had almost forgot that! My Webpage
  13. Okay, I'll weigh in here. As a fishing guide, I have all of my sturgeon holes marked so as I can select whichever one I intend to try and am able to go directly to it, then beyond 200' - 300' upstream or what the conditions warrant, and then drop anchor to slide back to 0' Takes all of the searching with the depth finder and triangulating with landmarks out of the picture. And no, my co-ords are NOT for sale.
  14. [Note: Purse found by police a few days later, no Jeep. Wallet found several months later, by hikers, money gone, all cards intact. They brought it to my house, it has live centipedes in it now.[ A bug swap?
  15. Those are the worst kind. You've got that right! Especially for PC dummies like me. Anyway, it's nice to have a good support group, including all of you.
  16. Called Garmin again today and spent 1 1/2 hours on the phone with a young, knowledgeable, courteous and friendly support person. He walked me through installing the MapSource update and the City Select update and all works wonderfully! Seems there was some obscure setting that I overlooked and was causing the main problems. I'm a happy camper and definitely pleased with their support.
  17. So....I called Garmin and they thought that maybe I have a bad CD and are sending a new one. I started thinking about the problem and I think it may have started when I went to download MapSurce 6.3 from the web site. I deleted all of my MapSource programs and reloaded everything (except the City Select v6 update) as suggested by Garmin and everything seems to work fine. I went back to the Garmin site to re-download the MapSource 6.3 update and it seemed to come through okay, but my program still shows that it's a 5.2 version??? Don't know what's happening. Also lost all of my waypoints, tracks, etc. when I deleted originals, but still have the most important ones that were on my GPS'r. Should get the new City Select CD's in a day or 2 and will try that again.
  18. This is still driving me up a wall! I've deleted MapSource and reinstalled my orginal R&R cd and downloaded MapSource 6.3 from the Garmin site. After doing that the orignal program worked but the update did not. Still get the same message about the registry. I may just wait 'till Monday and call Garmin for troubleshooting. Well, most likely I'll continue to try something, but will do that tomorrow if I continue to be unsuccesful.
  19. I've been trying to install a City Select V6 update. It looked like all went well until I tried to open the MapSource program and I get this error message: "There is a problem with the MapSource registry, please reinstall MapSource and start it again" Now I can't even access the old program and don't know what to do. I tried reinstalling MapSource R&R, the original City Select and the new V6 version and even re-downloaded the updated Mapsource from the Garmin site. Where is this "registry". Help! I gotta get this figured out.
  20. I have a model 5165. If those accesories work with it, I would gladly take them off your hands.
  21. Or you can see more stuff if you bring or rent bikes. In summary, if you're into trading items, the caching sux. If you're into hiking and exploring, the caching is awesome. Again, thanks for the tips! The bike rental thing might be a way to go for a day. We just want to see the highlights of the Keys and find a few interesting caches. Trade items are not a priority as we usually don't take anything and leave a sig item. Unless, of course, there is another sig item in the cache. This is going to be a whirlwind vacation, abeit a laid back one. See the sights and the scenery, with no hard core agenda. C.J.
  22. Thanks for the reports. Scenic hikes are on our agenda.
  23. Sure, we got into to it big time for a while, have (I think) 328 finds under our belts in multiple states and have definitely slowed down. It is usually related to how busy our lives are at the time, but we definately enjoy caching during a vacation and actually plan vacations with caching in mind. As you all know, it takes you to wonderful places off the beaten path, whereas you would never go to otherwise. During the non va/cay times, we sometimes will go on a whim to a destination 1 1/2hours to 3 hours from home, just to explore an area for a weekend getaway. eg: Last year we went to see the visitors facilities at MT. St. Helens as we had never been there before, and chased down some caches to make it more interesting. Great time! I think that one could easily 'burn out' on caching, BUT, if you include it with other fun agendas, I think it can continue to be a wonderful pastime/hobby/sport??? We're going to the Florida Keys this winter (got some free tickets:) and will include some caching along the way for some interesting sidetracks. Let it be a FUN thing to do, not an obsession. C.J.
