  1. Yep, that was me, actually. I found a very good deal on a Venture HC, so I bought one off ebay and am going to sell my eTrex H. I bought the serial cable to go with it as well so you can transfer caches to the unit. Let me know if anyone’s interested – I’ll let both the unit and cable go for $50.
  2. I was at Best Buy (along with everyone else) and was just about to get the eTrex HC which, with my credit, would have been around $70. I then noticed in the case at the bottom they had another model - the eTrex H. I asked them to do a price check on it and it was on clearance for $39.99. So yeah, suffice it to say, I picked up an eTrex H for $40. I'm pretty happy about that.
  3. Ok, well thank you for the feedback so far. I'll head out to Best Buy today but for the time being, here is what Best Buy has in their lineup. Could you let me know which model(s) have what I'm looking for? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/regularCat%3Apcmcat237000050017/regularCat%3Apcmcat237000050017/pcmcat237000050017.c?id=pcmcat237000050017
  4. As the title suggests, I'm looking for the cheapest GPS that will average waypoints. I use an iPhone4 for all of my searching, but want to start hiding caches as well. I've read a few posts in that the iPhone 4 isn't considered accurate enough, so I don't want people complaining about the caches I hide. I've got a $100 credit at Best Buy, so figured I'd ask here - what is the cheapest GPS I can buy that will have the "average waypoint" function? Thanks in advance for any and all help you can offer.
  5. My very first cache was near a tattoo parlor and the hint was "Need a Tattoo?" So I had no idea what I was doing and walked in to the tattoo parlor and asked the two burly guys where the cache was. They kind of looked at me, one said he had heard of Geocaching but didn't know there was one around. The other looked like he was going to kick my a**. I kind of slowly backed out of the shop and then found it in the parking lot.
  6. This isn't some grandiose story about a good find. Or is it? I was introduced to the world of Geocaching by my step son this last summer. He's actually heading off to college this upcoming weekend, but we've gone out on several occasions to search for some in our area. His younger brother isn't as into the sport as his brother and I are, so I do think it's given us a chance to bond (not that we were distant before). I took the day off work this past Monday and we went on a day of Geocaching, racking up ten each - not sure if that's good or not, but it's the most I've found in a given day. It'll probably be Thanksgiving/Christmas before we really get a chance to do this again, so I'm glad we found this activity that we were able to do together. He'll be at school in Virginia, about four hours away, but odds are that whenever I venture out I'll thank him for introducing me to this rather unique way to spend time. And for that, I'm grateful.
