  1. Did they call it a "repair" or a replacement? If you can prove they said it was a repair then they should be at fault and owe you a code.
  2. One annoying thing that I find is when you load a big card with all that states the search list of points of interest at giant and a pain. I run a small card local or shut off all other maps.
  3. I have on my camera, gps, cell phone. They are very durable. One interesting thing I have noticed is that if you apply pressure to the film it leaves a dent and then eventually works its way out. I had the GPS screen packed against a hard corner and it left a big dent and it worked itself out after a day or so.
  4. Well after 30 minutes on the phone with Garmin after several frustrating emails I am please to say they satisfied my issue. It is a very long story about trying to upgrade to CN v8 "NT". They sent me non NT then sent me NT and yet their website would not let me purchase upgrade for NT.. Only NON NT. I by mistake bought NON NT and then could not get NT code from garmin.com/support. After talking to the ssupport they sent me a new NT disk with coupon via next day air. Was more than I ever expected. I am satisfied after some frustration. Anthony
  5. I think as you zoom in the topo will be come visible. But under map setup that list the maps you can push the menu button to get options to turn off map sets so it only shows topo or N8 or specific sets.
  6. I mistakenly ordered the non NT disk and was unable to get the NT ordered off the website(because it showed they sent me the nonNT). I had to call and wait for 20 minutes to talk to someone. Once I got through they had no problem sending me the NT for my 60csx. it will be a week before I get but on my current non navigator maps I can put the whole west coast/west over to Denver border and up and most of the national parks topos west on a 512k card. I will be doing a road trip through CA, NV, UT, MT, ID, WA this winter and am very happy with my 512 card and will probably be even happier with the NT software.
  7. I agree Amazon sucks and I only use it when the deal is awesome. The one good thing when they F up your order and you get a live person(from India) on the phone they usually through in free stuff. My TIVO order was messed up because I tried to get $30 off with their CC application and ship to another address. Because they had to cancel my order to fix they gave me free 2nd day shipping. Was a sweet deal even though it took about 1 hour to fix.
  8. Hi, I don't know if I can answer your specific question but I just noticed the other day you can select a region/road to avoid in the preferences/routing/advanced.
  9. The Garmin 'accuracy circle' drawn around the position cursor reflects both the measurement accuracy of the GPS receiver *and* the accuracy of the map data. So it'll always be larger than the measurement accuracy alone and will depend on the maps being used. The circle is bigger with the basemap than with the more accurate downloaded maps. Thanks for the explanation. My conspiracy theory sounds much better. I did only have the Korean base make so I am sure that was the reason for the inaccuracy.
  10. I used my 60csx recently on a trip to Korea on NWA. I was amazed that I did not have to hold to the window like my old 60cs. Once it locked I was able to set it down and it worked great. Even at 'night' when all the window shades were shut. the speed and calculated altitude were very close to what the plane reported on the screens. One interesting thing about Korea that I cannot explain, the accuracy was +/- 12 ft but the circle around my position was +-50ft. Do they have different degradation for other regions? Korea has a US base so would that cause they to show less accurate? Interestingly enough my tracks were on top of each other for visiting the same location on different days so the accuracy was there.

  12. Hi, I had the same issue.. .wanted to load multi states and wanted to sell my CS. I sold my CS on eBay RIGHT after the x came out and got 280. Included a pelican case and a recharged and 4 batteries. All of which I planed to upgrade. I bought a 512meg chip for 40 bucks and loaded every state from Michigan to California if you draw a diagonal line across the US. It takes forever to load over a usb1.0 to my card reader but I will not have to change anytime soon. So for about 150 I upgraded to a x. Well worth it other than the slow arse acquire time compared to the CS. my 2 cents Anthony
  13. Hi, I am going to korea for a week and wondered if there are any maps i can use to create waypoints or tracks? I really dont need to buy any software but it would be nice to have some waypoints of places i will visit. any suggestions? thanks anthony
  14. Hi, I just wondered if anyone else besides me wishes the Garmin gpsmap 60csx stopwatch had a lap function reset by proximity alert. I would love to measure my lap times based on getting close to the start finish line (proximity). I realize this would be approximate but it would work a lot better than a distance function that is only accurate to .1th. With the distance reset the start finish line starts to creep and gets further and further from the actual S/F. I have recommended to Garmin and if you have the same need then please recommend so that some day they will add. Thanks Anthony
  15. I use map source for city select 7 and topofusion for track animations. Search on video.google.com for park city GPS or Laguna Seca GPS for some examples of how I used topofusion for snowboarding and skip barber driving school.
