  1. I've got several Garmin RINO units that I use with my youth group (530, 120, & 110) and am looking to purchase anyone's units that may have broken. I am getting much better at fixing them and need a few spare parts, so if you're looking to get rid of or sell cheaply any RINO units (including 520 + 130) I would love to have 'em... thanks Team Leirplass
  2. thanks so much for your help..... Was able to update most of them, except the last one which is a subscription one only... I'm no longer a paying member here - anyone have any clue how to log one in that way?
  3. only the cache names and their coords.... Thunder Cloud #1 n 39 49.618 w 105 04.680 Lake Loop n 39 50.552 w 105 05.470 The Cache Dispenser n 39 46.921 w 105 02.825 Niver Creek Open Space n 39 51.590 w 104 59.338 Trolls #3 n 39 53.808 w 104 59.817 I was at all of these caches in Early November 2006
  4. I was in Colorado about two years ago caching, and lost the paper that had all of my cache finds out there.... Well I finally found it tucked away in a hiding spot in my suitcase. I went to go log them in and now a handful of them are no longer active. I was able to find one that was gone because the owners name was in it, but the other I can't find. Is there a way to find these old caches and log my info in? any help would be greatly apprectiated.
  5. okay - that makes sense... just weird cuz I've never experienced that ever, but I haven't actually been out caching much in the past year and a half. Any chance it could have something to do with the radio's that are part of the RINO units? They did have alot of extra buzzing going on - the unit vibrates when some sort of message or whatever is sent on that frequency.. I wan't paying enough attention to see if this was happening around the same time as the satellite outages or not...
  6. for the past two days I've done ALOT of geocaching - about 10 hours total, about half the time spent in Des Moines, Iowa and the other half at home in Northern Iowa. Yesterday for the first time ever though when using 5 seperate Garmin Rino's, ALL of them would lose reception at exactly the same time, then all gain reception back minutes later at the same time. It seemed really odd as it wasn't super cloudy - some clouds yes, but I've also gone geocaching in the complete downpour of rain and they still worked.... Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing?
  7. I've got several Garmin Rino units, and my youth group kids get a bit rough on them sometimes, just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what will take the scratches out of the screen? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  8. I was also the innocent victim who came across a "GeoDump" up in St. Paul. Someone must have really had to go.... Pretty gross.... Also came across a large number of deer remains at a geocache just north of my town. I counted 11 skulls and many other deer parts... They were all on the the cement foundation of a building which had fallen down many years before... Called the DNR to go investigate it.... Found lots of money in different caches.... Have probably picked up close to 20 bucks over the years... money is money to me, and if it's left in the cache, I'm taking it! Found a few other cahces that hadn't been sealed correctly, and found plenty of mold.. always a classic!
  9. DOn't know if anyone sells these Garmin Carabiners on here or not, but I need 4 of them that are compatable with the RINO 110 & 120. Someone on eBay has given me a deal of 45 bucks shipped to Northwood, IA 50459, just seeing if anyone else is able to give me a better deal. thanks, mark markaaro@hotmail.com
  10. I have had my black berry for a few months now and was just wondering if you can use it to geocache with? I've seen other people post about downloading different programs for it, just wondering what the best one is for blackberries or is there a free one? ANy help would be appreciated. team leirplass
  11. One of my old GPS units had a cracked screen - a piece of geocaching swag was dropped on it and just cracked it - called them up and they offered to replace it for free - I had the unit back in about a week, when they replaced the screen they also replaced the rubber housing on the antennea. Garmin - a top notch company!
  12. I've got 4 RINO units 2 - 110's and 2 - 120's, and was just wondering if there is a way to show on them exactly where you are on the other 3 units without using the radio to update the screen? It's a really cool feature to see where the other users are, however, if they accidentally bump the talk button then all the other units focus on that users position rather than the geocache we're all going after...
  13. I got a few new Garmin RINO's this week and they have a computer cable so you can download things straight to the unit itself, but my computer doesn't have this weird 9 holed screw in thing - anyone know where to get an adapter for it or just have a RINO USB cord?
  14. i'm interested in getting some more rino's if no one else is - markaaro@hotmail.com
  15. Would love to get my hands on a few more Garmin Rino units - any of them, 110, 120, 130, 520 or 530. Works out great having the walkie talkie function with the kids I work with... If you have one to sell or know of someone whose willing to part, please let me know - markaaro@hotmail.com
  16. I'm looking to get back into Geocaching after a good while off..... I sold my old RINO 120's when I got poor, but would love to get some RINO's back. If anyone is willing to part with them, I would love to consider purchasing them for use with my new Youth Group kids (We're actually planning a walking trip across Rhode Island next summer, and using Geocaching to detirmine when and where we will stay!) So yeah, if you're interested in selling, let me know.... The fastest way to get ahold of me is markaaro@Hotmail.com - put GPS in the subject so I know it's not junkmail... Thanks. Team Leirplass
  17. I've had the pleasure of owning 3 RINO 120's, two of which got beat up pretty bad by my youth group kids, but Garmin has an AMAZING fix it department. Honestly, to get both of them fixed, the only thing it cost me was to ship it to them and both times they had it back to me within a week and a half. They were also amazing about putting in new screens for the scratched up ones I had... I'd contact Garmin and have them fix it for you.... Side note - Anyone have any decent RINO's they'd be willing to part with. My fortunes weren't the best this past year and I had to sell all my GPS units, but things are again looking up and now I'm ready to get back into Geocaching, and would love to get my hands back on some RINO's....
  18. I don't know if I'm allowed to post things being sold on eBay, but I'm selling off 6 new Travel Bugs and 2 used Rino 120's.... They are one day auctions, as I have just lost my job and need to sell off pretty much everything I own to keep a roof on my head.... My name on eBay is Markaaro thanks!
  19. I'm selling my Garmin RINO 120 with all of these extra's (with Garmin's price after each) Handlebar Mount - $18 PC Cable - $38 12 Volt Adapter - $40 Manuals - $12 Black Bash Gaurd - $9 Belt Clip (x2) - $24 Neck Lanyard - $13 Caribeaner Button Clip - $20 VHS Video - $16 I've got the original box that it came in as well as the no longer made wrist strap. I'm selling it on eBay and the auction ends Friday night October 13th and here is the auction number 300036021408
  20. I have a RINO 120, and broke the screen (dropped a devil gnome on it accidentally, but still my fault) and called to ask how much it would cost to get fixed, and it was free! I had to pay to ship it there, but they fixed it and paid to ship it back to me - when it was my fault! They also sent me an additional neck lanyard cuz I was asking about getting one!!! They overnight shipped it to me. So I figured in the end with fixing the screen, the free lanyard, and shipping both seperately, it was probably $40 to $50! Garmin is a darn good company, and you'll never hear a bad word out of my mouth about them!
  21. Just wanted to let you know that on Ebay you can currently buy the two radio/gps units for right around $200 and the software for an additional $45 or so... So you may have to drop the price even more before you get any takers... I'm very interested, just a bit out of my price range...
  22. I've got 2 RINO 120's, and each of them give different readings while in the same spot. Example... 43 26.551 93 13.445 the second at the same spot will read 43 26.571 93 13.431 It's not too big of a deal, but it's hard to teach the class when they aren't on the same page, when realistically they should give the same exact reading... Anyone have any clue why they would give different readings?
