  1. like the stolen caches people report, I say put a bug in a cache in an area with a camera or a cache that can be monitored in an urban area via cam. Why not name the bug "Mr Unstoppable" or something that would make him want to take it. Then get his picture via the camera and find out who he is and post the pic for all of us to enjoy... maybe some guy out there wearing lipstick with a list on his wall will take him out for us all... lol... just kidding I don't really condone the idea of taking someone out.. but it would be cool to catch them in the act.....
  2. never really thought of putting a TB for discover only. I guess you could hang one off the side of a mountain with climbing gear or something that would be cool... probably been done... love the big bugs!!! sweet
  3. I wish I could have gotten more than one so I could have put them a few more around the north west florida area. I am sure they probably always end up with left overs lol.. maybe next time they will limit it to 2 or 3 per person. I am not really interested in winning a the little jeep thing they are giving away, I just wanted to put them out. Peace out
  4. i thought about taking my jeep to Korea with me.... but then i thought how that was against the rules and didnt want to go to GeoPrison. I heard it is a pretty tough place. I just decided to put it out on august 1st like I had planned... bugs away
  5. Just found out about the war. I was just wondering if you have the capability on your site to track the soldiers without TB tags, why not make your own tags to be printed out with numbers on them for your site. (Not sure if this is breaking some kind of rule) It just seems more cost efficient only the soldiers would not be tracked on geocaching.com. Just my opinion. I would love to join in on the war but I am off to Korea for a year. Maybe my wife and son will want to join in. Peace
  6. We like all caches. My wife actually was a big fan of virtuals until they stopped. Now she likes Micros because we have 2 little ones they do not always want to cache. It gives her a chance to find "urban micros" while running around with the kids doing mom things. I like traditional more due to finding bugs. I am a bugaholic and will normally not take anything or leave anything unless it is a bug or unless my daughter happens to want some swag. I do like micro's too. 4 out of 5 of my favorite caches were a 5/5 traditional and the others micro caches. Like others have said, micros make me think more. Finding something the size of a micro cammo'd in a tree or somewhere else is fun for the whole all of us. It is kind of weird when we are all looking up a tree and muggles see us. I am waiting for one of them to come over and help us look for a cat or whatever else they think we lost. I also think micros are good to put out in place of where virtuals were. It is pretty easy to hide a micro in an area like a war memorial or some other nice place to visit, like a wal-mart parking lot "which happens to be our first cache we are putting out" I know I know..... another wal-mart cache... but my wife likes them and for those who care about beefing up there numbers then micros can be good for them too. We hunt them all until we can bleed the local area dry of caches...then we will have to put out more.... peace
  7. I also use the GPS to ear routine. I used this one all the time. I just walk around with it to my ear and look at coordinates every once in a while and then tap the GPS like I am mad because of no signal and walk the other way because I always go the wrong directions when looking for a cache. I also use my little cachers as a disquise. I let my 2 year old loose on the area and my wife chases her around and takes all the attention off of me. I like the idea of maybe making a jump suit with the Geo Caching logo on the front and back. Add a matching hat and clipboard and a orange vest maybe. Add everyones Ideas into one. Oh yeah. Do you think the city would be mad if I took a couple of their MEN WORKING signs and put them near my vehicle while on road side caches?
  8. Just put my jeep out this morning in Crestview Florida. It didn't take too long to get picked up by some eager cachers. Good luck to you all!
  9. Thank you all for the help. I will leave my geotrail in Washington State! Thanks again
  10. sorry about not responding quickly. I was visiting relatives and had no way to check forums. I will be in seattle on 5 Aug 06 around 1:30 A.M. and fly out to korea around 2:00 P.M. later that day. A lot of my time there is night time so I am not sure how much I can get out and cache during my layover. I just need to find a quick TB cache to see If I can grab some bugs for a trip to Korea.
  11. I was wondering the same thing. My sons travel bug has been in the same persons hands since March. I asked him to help it on its way. I understand if maybe something happened, I mean I kept a travel bug a little bit to long because my son came into the world a little earlier than expected and things got crazy. But how can you keep a bug for 4 plus months? I check the profile and the guy is online a lot but doesn't e-mail me back... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Ok... gotta go find my happy place before I explode in a ball of geo anger...
  12. I am on my way to Korea via a 12 hours lay over in seattle. I know there are a lot of caches in seattle, are there any really close to the Airport that I might be able to see and possibly grab some bugs for an tour of Asia? Thanks. (I know I could probably search all day for caches in the area, but I would rather get the opinions of fellow cachers on what are some good ones close to the airport. Peace.
  13. I like caching in cemetaries. before caching I never really thought to go in cemetaries. I kind of figured one trip was enough.(ok bad joke) Caching has shown me some nice cemetaries and makes me think of planning my last geocache. maybe a headstone cache...hmmmm
  14. Ahhhh I meant 1/2 a gallon of gas! I wish I had a scooter! Maybe I should get one to save on gas...that would be a long 45 minute drive to work... And why would I want to take away a find from a MOC if the person wasn't a PM? I guess if I did decide to make the cache MO I would only want PM's to log the cache until it was listed for all. If someone finds a way to log the find not being a Premium Member I would think the site would fix this. I would hope the person had enough integrity to not log the find, but thats just my opinion. (probably will start another forum fight with this comment. Hope not) I also think the person who is not a PM goes out with a PM and finds a MOC they should just leave a note saying they were with a PM and what they thought of the cache. If the person decides to become a PM then they could log the find. Thats just my Opinion. I still appreciate the above opinions on the topic. I have learned a lot from all of you and we have changed some of our caching, and cache placement ideas due to this forum. Thanks again
  15. Ok i spent all day trying to get in the double digits with my forum count. I believe the Moderators owe me around 30 post I was planning on posting today. Just Kidding! but not really! ok kidding "please do Geo slap me... ok...add one post to the total woohoo... "why am i addicted to caching and now posts on this site? Its like crack! Just Kidding, But not really!
  16. Well I hope the best for all the cachers in the area and say good luck to the Gizfinder.. I bet the gardener is sitting in the bushes with his bino's watching all the cachers... hope you have lots of replacement caches. Hate to see the bad publicity.. We love Geocaching, I thought us getting out as a family helping the environment(CITO) was our way of getting a life. Guess Not! oh well back to caching.. Peace
  17. Once again I still appreciate the inputs. I was wondering if you are not a premium member and you do happen to know how to sneak around the system, find, and log the MOC, isn't there anything inplace to protect this from happening? Can't I take that persons find off if I felt it was neccessary to do this? In the long run why isn't everyone a premium member? I mean whats 3 dollars??? like 1/2 a tank of gas? I gotta get a bike or some skates or maybe a scooter...
  18. Hi my name is USAFKNine and I am a cacheaholic....... I am constantly looking at everything and thinking if it would make a good cache or not. I also see swag everywhere I go. I am afraid to go into my sons room for fear of taking all of his toys for swag.. hahaha! Question for those who have been caching for years.. Are there phases to caching? Do you go through a "that would make a good cache" phase, or a "gotta find some swag" phase? I would like to know what kind of phases we will go through and if there is some kind of 12 step program if caching takes over....lol.. 19. Once again I appreciate the constructive opinions and info. I have about 40 micros and 10-15 regular so maybe i will just do a little of both. I guess I just wanted to know what was the norm. Thanks again
  20. I appreciate the input. I just wondered if premium members or the Geo Gods prefered we make them member only for the reasons you stated. However I do like the idea of making them member only for the first to find reasons. We are trying to put decent swag in our caches and FTF stuff when possible. Thanks again for the input.
  21. We have to little ones and one soon to be teenager. Our little ones are 20 months and 6 months. We take them on most of our caches. Sometimes they end up sitting in the car with one of us, but a lot of times we take the smallest out and carry him or use the baby backpack. Our 20 month old wants no part of being carried and prefers to walk as much as possible. One of our first big caches with our 20 month old was when she was around 8 months old and it was a 5/5. She had fun watching us make fools of our self for an hour or so trying to retrieve the cache.
  22. Wait... They sell Carp at target? I gotta log off now so I can go pick some up... Just kidding! couldnt help myself.
  23. Well I knew there was a reason for moderators... Just never knew.. J/k (please don't Geo slap me) I was just wondering how you got all that written into the little log book in a medicine bottle. My hat goes off to you "mr. writesrealsmallguy" "YES" added yet another number to my small total of forum posts.... only a few more to go and I will catch up with briansnat... WOW now thats some posting... you the man!
  24. Hi all we are pretty much a noob family to geocaching with only 150 or so finds. We are currently setting up around 50 caches micro and regular. We decided to put them out just a few at a time to make sure they are good caches and in good area's. Should I make a few of them "member only"?? I am not sure of the protocol for this sort of thing and appologize if this has been posted before. Disclamer: This post does not reflect the opinions of this cacher. 25. I am still new to the GeoLife but I would like to see more evidence before giving my vote (wait do I have a vote?) For now I will keep my PM Card (do I have one of these either?) I would like spell check though. I went to school in Alabama so I need it( no offense to anyone else who was educated in the state of Alabama) I did not get the detailed instructions on how to properly shake hands with other Geocachers... by the way is there a Premium Member and Charter Member handshake? Because if there is then maybe its worth the money. Oh yeah I do like the PM only caches. Disclaimer: This post in no way reflects the opionion of this geocacher. If you feel hurt or in some way offended by the comments of this post please feel free to keep replying to this post to up your posting numbers as I have just done because I don't have very many.
