  1. I went looking for a cache today and I was led to a "park and ride" by the side of the highway, after looking for about 10 minutes I decided that it wasn't worth my time or energy and I deleted the waypoint as I left the lot. You don't have to search for a cache if you don't like where it is taking you! Delete, move on and quit worrying about it. All people on these forums seem to do is complain about wanting new ways to filter caches they don't wanna find. I say, wait till you get to the location then decide if it's worth your time or not. I've been to some that from their description, didn't sound too interesting but turned out to be great. Then I've been to ones that had a very interesting looking description but turned out to be a little dull.
  2. This multi's final had quite a few muggle logs in it when I found it, and I can see why as I found it by mistake too. Its neat when muggles leave the cache alone and it ends up with a bunch of muggle logs.
  3. people on the forums do not understand that micro is a size and not a type, and they obviously never will because all they ever do is gripe about micros being seperate from other cache sizes. micro is a SIZE icons are for cache TYPES a micro where the coords on the page lead to the location for the micro is a TRADITIONAL why is this concept so hard to grasp?
  4. no offense to 360 intended here, I have a great deal of respect for all he's done for the sport, but $7500? You are asking the same price for a can of beans that I paid for my pickup! However if it was in my possesion and I found out I could get that much for it well.....you'd all be screaming at me then because I'd do the same thing! It's in his possession now, deal with it people, there's nothing you can do about it, this isn't like a geocoin thats been stolen and placed on ebay, he IS the owner of it, as such he's free to do as he pleases with it.
  5. I recently placed a cache that fits in with this perfectly, this little cemetery and church is probably the most haunted place I've EVER visited. The Ghosts of Frost I love caches in locations like this and when I posted this cache on the MIGO forums I had a lot of people who sounded interested and agreed. here's a photo taken by some serious ghost investigators in the cemetery where this cache was located. I haven't gotten any photos close to this yet, but I'm hoping! http://s35.photobucket.com/albums/d190/Ind...nt=100_2772.jpg
  6. I've taken to adding backrounds and other images lately to spruce up my pages and make them stand out. Here's a puzzle I made that hasn't been found too much yet: Fake-Out The pages for my "Alien Alphabet" caches turned out just the way I had envisioned when I came up with the idea for them. These pages incorporate more Photoshop than html. Alien Alphabet Alien Alphabet 2: Morbo's Revenge This last one, I'm hoping to get much better images for this place than what's on the page now. I know some don't like the tiled background images and normally as someone with web experience I agree, but for some reason I like them on cache pages, they add some more character to the page. I always make sure I resize the images small enough so they don't take forever to load. The Ghosts of Frost Creative pages can help draw people to come hunt I think, the last one my Ghosts of Frost cache's number of users watching is the most I've ever had on one of my caches and it seems to be increasing, I think some this is due in part to the images I've got uploaded. and of course I can't forget my 2 caches in memory of my brother, I was very pleased with how these turned out as well, Wild one is pretty simple, but I love the graphic I created for Nautical Star Nautical Star Wild One
  7. I broke my record Tuesday, and I hadn't even planned on it. I found 10 in about 4 or 5 hours. It just turned out I got lucky find myself near to a piece of WMU property up in K-zoo and picked 6 caches out of it that added to the 4 others I had found earlier in the day. There were a bunch more nearby I didn't try to get that day since I was getting tired and bugs were eating me. Not only that I'm not a numbers guy anyway.
  8. Evil Micro The cache above is an extremely well-done micro in the woods that I was fortunate enough to get a FTF on. I don't mind micros in the woods, one I did was just like the one you described above, it was a pill bottle in the roots of a tree. It only took me about a minute to find but it really wasn't too exciting of a find. But I've done a few that were great fun.
  9. there's one a few miles from my home that was hidden when I started caching that is still unfound, the guy who placed it doesn't give a crap about this sport and has an obvious agenda with the cache but it still got through. Most of the locals ignore his caches now, the guy found 13 caches then switched to hiding crappy impossible multis in the woods. I've been tempted for a while to just log an SBA on the one that's unfound because there's only one other unfound cache within 100 miles of my home, and the reason for that one being unfound is more legitamite, it's a scuba cache, it's been up just a little longer than the one close to home.
  10. I've read the whole thread and this was no doubt one of the most intelligent, well-thought out replies of the whole thread. Well done! I agree this guy decided today would be good for trolling.
  11. I've got 4 puzzles two simple, two somewhat hard. The two difficult ones are in a beautiful county park that already had a few other caches, these have been some of my most well-recieved caches, totally worth the effort I put into them. Alien Alphabet Alien Alphabet 2 I've got a lot of puzzles solved just haven't gotten around to finding the caches themselves. I personally enjoy them a lot though.
  12. I had my first bugs ready just before that event and had an opportunity to send them down there to that event, but I elected not to for this very reason and boy am I glad that I did. They would have been doomed from the start.
  13. Of my 15 active hides, they break down like this 4 ammo cans 1 mag keyholder (adopted hide) 1 magnetic "strip" cache 2 matchstick containers that are the cache itself, 5 matchstick containers that serve as stages for a multi and a puzzle 1 coffee creamer container that's a re-used container from an adopted hide that I upgraded. 1 Mr. Magneto nano 4 decons last but not least, my first hide which is a hand painted Eclipse Gum container which has held up quite well. I'm not too fond of tupperware, Ammo cans and Decons are my 2 favorite containers.
  14. You can see a few photos like that I took at the cemetery my most recent cache is hidden in: The Ghosts of Frost This quickly turned into my most-watched cache I can only assume because people have heard of this place before, as far as I know no one has attempted it at night yet, I had people on the MIGO forums tell me they would attempt it at night next time they were in the area though. I personally don't see orbs as proof of supernatural activity, and my photos aren't nearly as impressive as a co-workers, but I'll tell you now, you can feel it when you step into the cemtery, a feeling of being watched....it's creepy. During the day not much happens, but at night..... I love caches in these type of locations, cool topic.
  15. I started because I was curious, but I soon found that this sport combined my love for the outdoors with exploring new places and I was instantly hooked. When I'm taken to a totally new spot only 10 miles from home, that's just awesome, I had caches show me a new area not even 7 miles from home that I never knew existed.
  16. Snakes are cool! I always enjoy coming across them. I've been bitten on the cache hunt before actually. It was a harmless Garter on a cache ironically named Snake in the Grass I've posted the link in the forums a few times when this topic comes up. Here's a photo I took recently while working on a multi, I felt very fortunate this snake posed long enough for the great photos I got. This is another harmless Garter like the one I was bitten by. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?II...fb&LID=15599523 I've never had much of a fear of snakes, I've also been bitten by a Ball Python before, even so I still pick up the occassional garter snake for fun. Of course if I don't recognize the species, leave it be. There's only one posionus snake in my area and I have yet to run across it or know anyone who has.
  17. why are there so many people in these forums that think micros, small, regular etc should all be divided up? Have you forgotten some unknown and multi caches are all micros or small? If they were to go to the system shown here, they'd have to add even more categories for micro, small, regular, large multi micro, small, regular, large puzzle What is it people do not understand about the distinction between cache TYPES and cache SIZES?
  18. that pic reminds me of the back of one of the local's vehicles here. He's a big bug mover and he has this huge freaking tupperware tub in the back of one of his Jeeps just for TB's and it's almost always full
  19. I really don't care if someone chooses not to hide. I consider myself more of a hider than a seeker. I take a lot of pride in my caches and trying to make the best hunts possible. And of course I look to put them in interesting spots. If they choose not to hide, I don't care. I like being creative and I like making challenging hides, I find that to be the part of this hobby I enjoy the most. Most of my caches, especially my multi and my puzzles have been pretty well recieved. When I get a nice long log on one of my caches, that's just as rewarding as finding a bunch for me. Some people are hiders, some are not simple as that. As others have already said hiding is not the only way to give back to the community.
  20. I can never understand the complaints about micros. A few days ago I had my GPS pointing toward a cache, the GPS was pointing at a McDonald's, first time I've ever come across a cache apparently in a place like that. Know what I did? I kept right on driving. No you can't filter out all the garbage, granted you will likely find some in your GPS while out caching, but it does not mean you need to hunt it, delete the waypoint for an undesired cache and move on.
  21. I still use my Etrex Legend just as it came out of the box, no new maps or anything added to it, just waypoints of caches. A bit primitive, but it has served me well over 150 finds and 16 hides.
  22. eh, close enough. Obviously it was still very difficult for these guys to retrieve, as were all the caches they found.
  23. So that container couldn't be retrieved? yes....it appears the cache is on a guardrail, that makes it VERY difficult to retrieve and open, yup best course of action here was signing the container And they signed it so well, such nice handwriting in nice, thick black letters, yeah that doesn't make that container obvious at all... thanks for posting the pic, I'll say it again these guys should be ashamed
  24. here's a simple solution.... move to a less populated area! There's less than 10 caches under 10 miles from my house. Once I get to page 5 I'm out to 16-17 miles.
