I had exactly the same problem. Garmin Support told me that this was a problem with Macs only. Downloaded an older version of the Communicator and the problem was solved.

In Garmin BaseCamp click on your device and a complete list of all of the caches on the device will be displayed, sorted by found and not found, select the files you want to delete and delete them. Close BaseCamp and the changes will be made.

I have had the same problem. In my case it was a Mac problem with the new communicator...loading and using an older version of the communicator solved the problem. Garmin support told me it was a Mac only problem.
