  1. It's a fairly common problem for the GPX indexing at initial boot (after loading a new GPX) to fail sometimes. With my first generation eTrex 20 (not 20x), once I put more than 1500 caches on the card, the chances of a GPX index failure seemed to increase. For that reason, I put the geocaches on an external microSD memory card. If there was an indexing issue, pull the card, restart/shut down, put the card back in, restart. Using an external microSD card also gives you the option of having multiple cards for different locations.
  2. I use the WhereYouGo on Android. Works very well. I've used it on several different devices with no issues.
  3. Not sure about the OP, but in my case, I have the actual TB tag for my vehicle decal on a keyfob that is always in my pack. So whether I drive up to a cache, or hike a kilometer into the bush for a cache, something with the tracking number on it is at the cache site. Text from the trackable page: "You have discovered BlackRose67's GeoMobile & Keychain. Currently a 2013 GMC Terrain & Chevrolet HHR Keyfob."
  4. Keep in mind that you are travelling in a big metal can with lots of electrical wiring. My Oregon 600 (and previously GPSMAP 62s and eTrex 20) all give less than accurate results when used inside the car. As soon as we step outside, they work as expected.
  5. You haven't mentioned it, but what phone are you using? The eTrex 10 is the most basic GPS you can get from Garmin, but it does have GPS and GLONASS capabilities. I see you are from Quebec, so having GLONASS enabled would be useful especially when caching/hiding caches in the woods. I don't have my eTrex 20 handy at the moment, so I'm just going by memory here. Press the menu button on the side of the device and then navigate to the Setup icon. From there you should see something named System. Click that and see if GPS or GPS + GLONASS are active.
  6. The fact that you submitted them and then archived them quickly likely won't help your cause. If the coordinates were off, you would have been better to disable them, update the coordinates, and then re-enable them. EDIT: I'm only seeing one cache that was published under your username. Are the others under a different account?
  7. I don't see or have a problem with it. Is it really any different than having a spouse with their own geocaching account find your caches and vice versa?
  8. "We will be performing scheduled site maintenance on April 19, 2016 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm PST. During this time Geocaching.com may go offline briefly." is still being shown on most of the pages of the site.
  9. I have a QR code cache in the works now. I have one in the works with QR codes and NFC tags, but the NFC tags leave the Apple folks out, so I need to offer up a plan B for them.
  10. To me it means it's up high enough that it will not get covered in snow during a normal winter.
  11. Most entertaining/perplexing thread I've read in quite some time.
  12. My eTrex 20 (original release, not the 20x) would have problems indexing the GPX if I had more than about 1200 caches on the external microSD card. I've loaded over 3000 caches in a GGZ file on my Oregon 600 with no issue.
  13. General rule of thumb; if it's a traditional cache, assume no one is going to read the cache page.
  14. When I was trying to place one of my first caches, I hit the same issue. The reviewer told me that my location was too close to a puzzle final. Since I hadn't actually solved any puzzles at that point in my caching career and I knew where my coordinates were, I went and found the final, got the coordinates, and placed my own cache. Interestingly enough, I ended up adopting that puzzle cache.
  15. Just wait until you start buying other modes of transportation (bicycles, kayaks/canoes) because of Geocaching.
  16. I've ordered from them in the past with no issues, but that was a few years ago. There was a similar post regarding them last October: Previous thread
  17. The official app will no longer be available for purchase after March 23. The new/updated app recognizes your Premium Membership and opens up additional features.
  18. I've got one that's been missing since August 2013. The family that has it (and 4 other travelers) is now inactive. They never responded to my e-mails. I'm going to re-release it and send it on it's way again and see how far it gets. TB's are hit and miss. 4 of the 6 I have released into the wild are missing. I do have one that has traveled 26,515 kms so far in only a few hops.
  19. No, you can use pocket queries from geocaching.com or individual GPX files. Garmin shut down opencaching.com last year.
  20. I'm getting it regularly on different pages. I just press F5 (refresh) and it works fine after that.
  21. Are we actually allowed to do that? I've been tempted to do something similar with a missing trackable which has been held by a now-inactive cacher for several years, when I re-release it.
  22. Also, if you want smaller sized track logs, set it so that it archives track logs daily.
  23. You can buy a Garmin Carabiner, which slips over the rails on the back of the GPS. Also, there is a place on the bottom of the GPS where you can thread the fine loop that many Geocaching lanyards have through.
  24. So far I've adopted 9 caches that I had previously found. I kept the finds, as those finds occurred before I was the cache owner.
