  1. It's working for me now. Got today's notifications.
  2. I'm seeing the same thing. PQ's are running fine, but no notification.
  3. Here's a slightly different twist. I was traveling last week and did this earthcache inside the Denver International Airport. It's well done and seems to meet the requirements of an earthcache. There may be opportunities for more of these, if the airport has the proper content.
  4. Today, 3 of my 4 regularly scheduled PQs ran and downloaded fine. The other disappeared when I tried to download it. As a test, I made a copy of that PQ and re-ran it. It worked and downloaded fine, so that may be a temporary workaround until GS resolves this one. Running the copy will still count against the daily quota, so it won't help if you've already run 5 today.
  5. I had the same problem. A few others have reported it in feedback forum: PQ file contains wrong date It's very strange. I have several copies of the same PQ. The only difference is the placed date range. Only one of those PQs had the problem. The others ran fine.
  6. Very cool! If there were something like that in my area, there would be plenty of people forming groups to tackle that adventure.
  7. Interesting idea. It will be fun to see the results. It took 3 PQs to get the full count, but from my home near Sacramento, the total is 2255 within 10 miles.
  8. Here's one that's not too far from your area: Challenge of Collaboration
  9. Of the 19 caches I’ve placed, 4 are PMO. These are caches where I collaborated with another cacher and invested several months and considerable expense. One of the caches took over a year to develop. Another cost me over $150 in materials. We wanted them to be something special and reward those who are serious about the hobby. By making them PMO, we are able to see who is viewing the cache pages. It also tends to reduce the likelihood of theft/damage. I don’t know that I’d put as much effort into the cache, if I couldn’t have that small level of additonal protection. It’s not about being exclusionary. It’s more about protecting the investment. If a non-PM approached me about finding and logging any of these caches, I’d be more than happy to temporarily remove the PMO flag to accommodate them.
  10. I noticed the same problem yesterday. Works fine in Firefox. Fails in IE 8. Running Windows 7. Tried several times to download and install the plugin. Installation seems to go fine, but the plugin is not recognized. I don't download directly from the cache page very often, so no idea how long this has been an issue.
  11. Yes, something strange is going on. This morning, only 2 of my 4 scheduled PQs have run, but I got 33 copies of one and 12 copies of the other. The timestamps on the e-mails span a 3-minute period. I loaded the last copy of of each PQ and it seemed fine.
  12. Did you just shine a national spotlight on an ALR cache? From a "Rules" standpoint, this cache meets the criteria of a "Challenge Cache". From a "Delete Logs" standpoint, I could delete a log if the challenge weren't met, just like anyone could delete a log if a traditional was not properly found and signed. From a "Practical" standpoint, I wouldn't delete a log unless it were something really blatant, etc. Even then, I would hesitate. I'm more about having fun than nitpicking the rules.
  13. I've been using Sanyo Eneloop batteries for about a year now. They don't loose their charge like NiMH. They provide much longer life per charge than the alkalines I was using.
  14. If I'm just going out for the day, I'll leave Google Earth running on my laptop at home, zoomed in to the area where I'll be, and displaying the unfound caches. For longer trips, an itinerary printout showing the route. The notifier looks like a great idea.
  15. I know the cache you are talking about, as I had the same problem when placing a cache in the area. The cache in question has several stages. At each stage, you must answer a question. There are 4 possible answers to each question. Each answer has different coordinates. If you answer correctly, you find the next stage. Apparently, you answered all the questions correctly when you did this cache. The bogus stages need to be in place as "stages of a multi" because if someone placed a cache there, it would interfere with the multi and confuse the finder who chose an incorrect answer. The would find the cache and think they had completed the multi, when they actually hadn't. While I'm not thrilled with the amount of real estate this cache consumes, I can say that the owner does re-use many of the bogus waypoints, so it's not as bad as it could be. I also worked with the owner when placing my cache. He was very cooperative about providing me the bogus stage info (I had completed the cache). He even moved one of his bogus coords to accomodate a location that I really wanted to use.
  16. I have one cache where I allow multiple finds (This one). It's a challenge cache. You can log a find for each time you complete the challenge. To me, it seems reasonable, since the challenge involves visiting different caches to qualify. Other than a few of the exceptions mentioned in this thread, I can't think of many legitimate reasons for multiple finds. I agree that it should be up to the owner to make the exception.
  17. I've come across 3 rattlesnakes over the past couple of years caching. One was under a large boulder, on the opposite side as the cache. One was a baby rattler hiding under the ammo can (yeah, that was scary!). Just 2 days ago, I had my third encounter. While going for the 3rd stage of a multi, I heard a quick "buzz" in front of me. I froze in place until I could spot the source of the sound. The buzz started again, and I spotted the snake about 3' from my foot. I held still until it moved far enough away for me to get out of there. We found a different route into the cache.
  18. Definitely looks like a glitch. I got 2 emails on 9/24 that contained reviewer notes dated 9/12 for a cache I do not own, but do have on my watchlist. The reviewer notes were posted by the owner of the cache on 9/12. Cache was published 9/13.
  19. Just had one in the Sacramento area last weekend. Lots of fun. Link
  20. It didn't happen to me, but it happened at one of my caches. JohnnyVegas helped save a damsel in distress. Rescue at Cliff Dwellers
  21. For a nice virtual with an amazing view, you could ride the Cog Railway to the top of Pikes Peak for this one: Pike Never Made It!
  22. Here's one that's underwater at Lake Tahoe: Depth Perception
  23. Well in that case definately log it through one of those caches (or all of them). It'll need it to show the trip to Ca. Thanks for the info. That's what I'll do.
  24. The bug has visted some caches with me in Colorado, including one near where I received the cache. So technically I supposed I could log it in any of those. I did not ask the owner (young child) about logging it. He's a new cacher and this is his first travel bug. I'm guessing he'll be interested in how far it travels, so it seemed like the mileage should start in Colorado, not california. I didn't know if that would happen without dropping in a Colorado cache.
