  1. Oh. That makes so much more sense. Thank you! They probably should have chosen a more differentiated colour than the dark grey they did. I can hardly tell the difference between that and the light grey!
  2. So I've been trying to figure this out, and it doesn't seem to say anywhere in the knowledge books or forums (or I just am not searching for the right terms). When you look at the listing of caches in an area, some of the caches have a white, light grey, or dark grey background. I know the peach is my own listing, and green is good for beginners, but what do the other colours mean? Likewise, when I'm looking at my trackables page, the location of the trackable sometimes has a grey background, or a green background. Are the green background ones items that have recently moved, changed hands, or...? Sorry if this is a dumb question and already listed somewhere.
  3. What's your least favourite part of geocaching? The DNFs? The spiders? The poisonous plants? The muggled caches? I've recently discovered that mine is the "waiting for my cache to be approved for publish".
  4. Look on things that are metal? Also maybe look online to see some pictures of what micros can look like, so you have an idea what you're looking for, if you haven't already.
  5. I think for an iPhone it's less of a question, but if you're using a traditional GPS unit, you might want the PQ to run once a week (or more, or less), so you know you have the most up to date info on caches for that criteria. A Garmin or Magellan won't access the cloud to pull down the latest listings (additions, attribute updates, etc.), so I think that's where it comes in handy.
  6. Thanks for this feedback! You actually sort answered another question about an idea I had kicking around -- if I attached a travel bug to a book with instructions like "Please write about how you found this bug, then place it in another cache", if people would. (In which case, I would stamp the TB # on the inside cover, so people wouldn't have to bend it up.) I think I will take the advice and replace the TB with something else for the log book, then do the TB for the idea I mentioned above. Pretty much everyone I've shown it to in RL agrees with you, TL&MinBHIL, that it will likely end up being stolen at some point. I think that's a risk I'm willing to take once, and then see how long it takes before it goes missing to gauge whether it's worth ever doing again. Thanks!
  7. I'm getting ready to start hiding some caches, now that I've found a few and I had a question for the general community. I made the book shown in the attached photos to be used as alogbook (it has Rite in the Rain paper, even), but I was wondering if you ran across it if you would: a ) take it, thinking it a trade item, b ) take it, thinking it was a travel bug (you can't move the attached TB, it's just a copy and I thought it was a good object to represent geocaching), or c ) sign the log and move on? Just trying to get a feel for if I should be prepared to replace it quickly.
  8. I was interested in getting some Geocoins made, and while there's a long list of vendors in the pinned topic, there's no indication of which is "better" than the others. So if you've had some made and would share your experience with the vendor you used, I'd greatly appreciate it. (I searched, but didn't see anything similar to this already discussed. Sorry if it is a dupe or not appropriate.) Thanks!
