  1. Hi Everyone, Can anyone recommend a good bicycle mounting bracket that will hold a garmin vista? cheers
  2. I use a Garmin Forerunner 301 when I go cycling and running. Great training tool.
  3. I was wondering if they'd show up on the GPS sat. page of my Vista C. I live in Vancouver, BC and was wondering if I was in range of a WAAS satellite. Isn't one located over the Pacific and the other over the Atlantic? If I'm not in range I might as well turn it off on my GPS and save a little battery power. cheers
  4. UTM is already displayed on the cache page. You seem to be confused. Well, we certainly are. Yes, I was confused. I was trying to re-phrase my request to make it generic and failed miserably. :-) My thought was that if the GPX file contained the coordinates in UTM, then when the file was imported into CacheMate it would appear in the format I prefer. I guess I have to agree, it would be easier if CacheMate or CacheMate File Converter converted lat/long to UTM for me. cheers David
  5. It'd be nice if CacheMate did that but my request is for the *website* to give the option of viewing in either lat/long or UTM.
  6. Stated simply, what I want is the ability to choose between lat/long and UTM. On the website I can choose between miles & kilometers, why not the same for location coordinates? cheers David
  7. Unless I'm missing something, I don't see how to change the coordinate display in CacheMate. cheers
  8. Maybe this has been asked for already. It'd be nice if we had the option to choose between lat/long or UTM or whatever when generating PQs. I like to run UTM on my GPS but it's a pain when the coordinates don't match what I've got in CacheMate. I know I can switch back and forth on the Vista and that there are utilities to do the conversion for me (I've got GeoCalc), I just don't want to have to do the work. cheers David
  9. Thanks dogbreathcanada. That would be the cats meow if there was a cache to search for as well. cheers David
  10. You will get more used to caching and bat 1.000 soon. The Vista C is a remarkable GPSr if equipped with CitSelect and TOPO's, you may want to look into those programs. I've got TOPO Canada and Metroguide Canada, pretty darn cool. Thanks for the feedback everyone.
  11. I'm planning to hike the Lions next week with some friends and was wondering if anyone out there had a set of waypoints they wouldn't mind sharing. Not that I'm afraid of getting lost, just playing with my new Vista C. cheers David
  12. 2 finds and 2 DNFs, and I notice now that one of my DNFs is now archived because it appears to have gone missing. I was only out for a couple hours and all 4 caches were located in Stanley Park, but it was a lot of fun. I'm really impressed with my Vista C, today was my first chance to really use it and it performed pretty good under to tree canopy in the park. cheers
  13. In preparation for tomorrow I rummaged around my apartment and managed to find a half-dozen items I can use for trading. I am so good to go. cheers David
  14. So, pocket queries will generate a single .loc file containing the waypoints for all the caches in the query? I just downloaded a half-dozen .loc files and compiled them into a single file which I then opened with Garmin Waypoint manager in order to transfer them to my GPS. Not difficult, but tedious for sure. Earlier today I had downloaded a set of .gpx files then used the utility for generating a .pdb file for my Clie. Tomorrow will be my first day caching and I'm pumped. I'm all ready to go. I've got the waypoints in my Vista C and the clues in my Clie. cheers David So I went back to the 'Seek a Cache' page and noticed the checkboxes on the right hand side of the search results page. Hmmm. Now I see how to get all the caches I want in one .loc file. Trial and error. cheers David
  15. Ok, I didn't mean to raise a fuss here, I was just keen to get started geocaching. Wish me luck, tomorrow will be my first attempt at geocaching - maybe I'll find a couple. cheers David

  17. Thanks Miragee. I just bought a copy of CacheMate but haven't investigated it fully. I thought the decoder was also needed. cheers David
  18. Anyone know were to find a copy? I google-searched and got a bunch of flaky-looking sites. cheers David
  19. Sorry, didn't mean to air the dirty laundry. I didn't know I was rejected, I just thought someone was on vacation. Ok, no worries about being rejected. I figured I register now and cache later - but I guess it's cache and carry. I hope to make my first foray into geocaching this weekend. Maybe you'll reconsider in a week or two. cheers David

    Bcga Account

I applied for a user account sometime over the weekend and received a email on the 19th indicating that my application was being reviewed. I know it's been only a couple days, just wondering. cheers David
  21. I took the cheap way out and bought a small camera case for my Vista C. No nice see-thru windows but provides good protection when I'm not using the GPS. It's big enough for the unit and a fresh set of betteries.
