  1. Does anybody know a responsible EU/German/British etc. authority (with e-mail or address) where we can report the behaviour from Groundspeak:

Net price is not stated, VAT percentage is not stated, VAT ID is not published at their web site, no invoice and so on.

I checked other companies like Amazon and ebay. All of them have done this, sure, because it is legally required.

  2. To summarize:

    - It is illegal to charge VAT in the EU without showing the net price and VAT (exact amount and percentage)

    - It is illegal to charge VAT without an invoice where VAT is shown.

    - It is illegal to charge VAT without having a public VAT ID from an EU country.

    - It might be illegal, but at least it is not honest to show the price in dollar and to charge it in Euro.

Please correct me, if I am wrong...

  3. 340+ posts on this topic by only a handful of people. I stumbled upon this discussion by accident. Why would G$ worry about the few people who read this board and more specifically this topic. I don't know anyone in Belgium who knows about this discussion (I know at least one of the previous posters is Belgian) but I think most people have no clue about what's happening here. And I believe G$ must come to the same conclusion.

Most of the people do not notice the new price until their premium membership will expire. This will take months. And when they want to renew their PM, it is not so easy to see clearly that it is now 30 Euro instead of 30 Dollar.

So it could be a good plan from Groundspeak to say nothing and wait until the complaints are forgotten.

  4. From time to time I checked the logs like "when did a special cacher log a cache and what what his comment". For this (and only for this) I had chosen the Show me all logs option. If I want to do the same now I have to scroll down and down and down and ... down to the first log before I can search for a special cacher.

And the best thing is: When you leave the logs (for watching a profile or so) and and return to the logs, you again have to scroll down and down and down and down....

  5. I don't like the new logs, but maybe I just don't understand how it works.

Let's suppose I'm working on GC2HQX4 Puzzle People- BigBender and I need to search through a bunch of cache pages for logs by davarle. In the past, I could just click "Show All Logs" and then use my browser find function to locate the log. Is that no longer going to be possible? (As another example, if I want to know whether or not person XXX has found Groundspeak HQ, is it going to be ridiculously painful?)

yes it is but only after all logs have loaded i.e. you need to reach the bottom of the page first

And when you left the site (for looking at a spoiler or so) and came back, you have to repeat the loading of all logs again and again

With the "all logs" button that wasn't necessary.

So what is more comfortable and what produces less traffic?

    I am very disappointed...

  6. I agree, thanks for listening to your users on at least one aspect of the recent changes.

I think it would be better to listen earlier to the users and additionally announce their upcoming changes before they release them! So Groundspeak could avoid a lot of trouble like the trouble with the dates and the avatars.

  7. What was the reason to delete the exact date? I cannot remember that there was a hot feedback topic from the cachers to do this! Please bring back the exact dates. Only reading "about two years ago" is horrible!

And who wanted to have the avatars in the logs? Complete waste of space, espacially here on my ipad, and useless!

You should better use your time for the hot feedback topics. Why did you postpone to include the favourite points in the gpx files, for instance. THAT is what the geocacher want to have....

    dbox.

  8. This link does nothing for me on Chrome and IE8. Anyone else have that problem?

    Works for me on FF4.

Groundspeak claims that these items have been completed. I don't agree. Does anyone else feel that way?

Kinda. Hiding founds and hides works, but unchecking the boxes doesn't bring the items back. Something still doesn't work right.

I don't seem to be smart enough to quote only part of a reply so: On the later item: For me any change to the map (movement, zoom, add filter items) negates the personalization (i.e. the smiles come back even though they are checked as 'hide'). Again; IE8 and Chrome.

The personalization works by unclicking and clicking again after a zoom

Why do I have to use an extra click to get dynamic map  ?

Why did GS change that normal smilie to a strange golden one  ?

Why is it not possible to remove that fixed width? For example, my cache cannot be solved because of that  ?

  9. Thanks for the update, but I am a little bit confused.

Before the first update we had a line spacing of 1, after the update a line spacing of 1.5.

Now I have the feeling, it is a line spacing of 0.7. Not the same as weeks ago as it was perfect to read.

Problems with my old eyes or what do other users see?

    dbox.

  10. But don't forget PDAs, mobiles, netbooks, running with IE 5to8, FF, Opera, Safari and so on.

So let's just use the old design.

I have never heard of any problems with that.

  11. Very strange: No one of the Groundspeakers has said any reason for changing the design!

But all (yes all!) user have complaints about the new so-called "design". It still looks like the "programmers" has been made it in Word and saved it as HTML.

Why could they not change the html-code without changing the design?

Some other complaints (please excuse small pics):

A lot of wasted space for the additional wapoints:

    utrv8.jpg

Bigger numbers in maps make it unreadable (and bad aligning at cache table to the right):

    28vg02d.jpg

Hints are hidden within the middle of whitespace:

    21az1ts.jpg

And, of course, all over the pages the 1.5 line spacing, the spacing of the tables, the strange font size, ...

Very poor design, looks like from the 90s

I have no fun looking at GC.com. Please undo all of that!

    dbox (working with opera 10)

  12. Horrible design <_<

Why have you changed that? I only want to make a change when I will get an improvment? But I cannot see any improvment of the new design!

    Some "highlights":

    - Too much whitespacing all over the pages (including the linespacing)

    - looks very unstructured, because of missing background colours/only white and light blue

    - Archived caches not marked with red

    - Small thumbnails in the gallery

    - less html in the description (<hr> is gone)

    - horrible tables (some borderline are mssing, too wide, ...)

    - strange font

    and so on

    And some bugs:

    - Maps are not loading

    - enlarging gallery pictures will only work with two or more pictures for one cache

(All tested with Opera 10, but IE is even worse)

Hey Groundspeak: Who has tested this new application before releasing? These bugs are so obvious, everyone can realize them in a few seconds, why not Groundspeak?

Please make a restore and give us back the old design!

    Rüdiger
