  3. this gives me an idea..... goto the dollar store and find a watch that looks expencive. drop it near a cache and see if anyone tries to return it.
  4. i believe this is the link you were trying to post http://pinouts.ru/SerialPortsCables/usb_se...er_pinout.shtml . you could make a serial to USB converter and skip the serial ports and make the into one cable. does that make sence or no?
  5. i only want to carry one cable at a time because plan on doing mapping on my laptop (yes i know how to do that). i think it is possible to do it because i have made an Super Nintendo Controller into a USB device. I just need the directions and the drivers to do so.
  6. I found this cable link on garmins web site. i see that it has 4 wires and i know that a USB cable has 4 wires. Does anyone know of a site that explains how to make a USB cable for the etrex? or have a idea on where to start looking for the directions and drivers for one? thanks
  7. if you go to google and get google earth (do a serch on google for 'google earth') and install it. its free. then goto your "my Account" page on this tGC.com site and you can download a plugin to show you the caches on the map. I have used google earth for a while to find caches and i really like it. the only propblem would be if you dont have a broadband connection you cant use it.

  14. Example: Geocacher - a strange creature wandering in the woods stareing at an cell phone like device. Add your own humorus terms.
  15. The harness i use looks like a seat belt with 2 seat belt leg loops. i like it because its light and for the most part comfortable (until you take your weight off of it (figure that out)and it stays buched up in places it shouldnt be bunched up in). one way that i have found to make your harness more confortable is to get the waist belt really tight. and leave the leg loops with a little slack (about 2 fingers should fit through) use for vertical rope only repeling and its pretty confortable.
  16. I was originally introducted to geocaching via a call called Outdoor Adventures. Does anyone else know of school programs that introduce youth to geocaching?
