  1. yes the two anthus decoder caches, and the cache detectives maths challenge i know of stateside are set like this - the coin stays put in part of a multi - i'm planning another like this soon the cerebral codex cache has coins that stay put in side it and i've done museum style caches a bit like kswader's. ironically first was a cache that couldn't be listed on GC as it is too close to others so it is archived -coins and all but they are there in the cache - should i tell where And are a special themed glow in the dark group- i have two themed caches the other is full of puzzle coins arranged in a special 'book' each coin is in the sleeve of a photo album and has a page telling all about each coin and then you can use some of them to hunt other puzzle caches i've set. and I'm dropping a travelling viking which isn't trackable into a moving cache attached to TB tag which is passed around australia mostly hand to hand filling up with sig items. Actually it's abit of a responsibility moving coins tbs and some people down here just prefer to look and leave. We like to take our little visitors home and show them around a bit mostly because we find the general contents of caches a bit boring after 140+
  2. I'm quite sure I could never have managed to trade for a mystery coin without the trade costing at least what i paid in legal tender on ebay - i was very happy for the opportunity to bid. 'trading' geocoins is nothingmorethan using another currency and an very inflationary one at that. oh and I have a tracking time available so it's not an off topic post after all
  3. no need to go off to china - you can have it minted professionally here in australia now the icon and tracking numbers are down to 250. If you want the pricing and link I've got it.
  4. hi I letterbox and have a few contacts in the states who are very active. pm if you want more help. haven't carved for ages must do some
  5. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...c5-f53dd5f480e4 Sorry my photos don't do this area justice.
  6. If anyone has missed out on a gold wolf and not hanging out for black, i have suddenly been invoiced for my coins after giving up on them and being gifted one. I would like a trade for upcoming GCC october coin or perhaps some other coin of similar quality to snow wolf.
  7. and out TB has been held since last nov. !
  8. HI lucky duck - gee it's so sweet. i saw the artwork on madhatters just after i had emailed a design idea for christmas fairy (you know like Cicely mary barker on top of xmas tree i'm not into angels and there is no snow down here) and thought i had been geozumped!
  9. oh the icon can be had for 250 coins from a german mint - i don't know if thats a general thing or peculiar to them
  10. Sounds like a very elegant design and a nice change from the rather 'painty' childish ones of late ( although we are stillsuckers fo rcute things like sock puppets) Put me down for a trade!
  11. and i paid nearly 2 months ago and it was supposely shipped 20 days ago.... it never takes this long I am treating it as a not sent if no reply this pm and contacting paypal.
  12. oh - i thought the activation code was a one time only thing and throw them out. Do you mena the tracking number?
  13. http://geocoins.org.uk/ among others - try the uk forums and ask
  14. Your flat rate US mailers are really good value for multiple coins - i'd use several of these rather than one big 30 coin package. Can everyone from europe pack their coins a bit better though- those thin plastic bags are useless need second layerr bubble warap or cardboard the mail rollers really crunch down sometimes, and everyone please do not put sticky tape all over the inner bags yuck
  15. not asilly question at all especially for small island like tassie - great idea - errr when i get my own coin
  16. oh and can we pin this topic please and the one that led into it.
  17. thanks for the info. I will like to know how the coins are actually minted from now on and as most minters seem to wipe the history from their webpages when the coin is sold out I am going to start up a webpage with this background. Unfortunately our latest trade has few spots but it's lovely anyway. Actually most of the geocoins are so "painty" as the child puts it that there is very little bare metal anyway - I was more worried about damaging that accidentally with the silver cleaner! Handling coins is irresistable especially with the glow in the dark ones Just a quick wipe with a soft microfibre cloth then to clean off the oils?
  18. Compass rose is simply THE most gorgeous geocoin ever made. The quality of the coin would have something to do with ebay price - a lot of the US personals are a really disappointing in that dept. but its just pot luck really on those auctions - someone wants the coin and doesn't mind dropping the price of a nice sweater on it. geez I've seen costume jewellery sell for twice that with half the metal and workmanship
  19. I know what you mean. My wife is generally patiently tolerant of this weird geocaching hobby of mine, but she seriously swooned when I showed her a Compass Rose coin. They're moving on eBay in the vicinity of US$20 + S/H, so I guess I'll have to wait for some generous cacher to leave one somewhere close as a FTF prize. [] dave why don't you make her a present of the new gold compass rose when it comes out? You need to beat the scalpers to it though, register at coinsandpins.com for newsletter.
  20. Mrs. Shop99er refers to geocoins as this sport's charm bracelet. oh she is so right! charms are sentimental/symbolic value above their base metal. the silver charms are actually cheaper to place in a cache as prizes down here! but for sentimental value you can't beat opening a trade and finding.... a wooden nickel! it's nearly like finding one in a cache
  21. Thank you Aaron for this disambiguation. I read something in another post bagging the greenman coin insert which mentioned it is made of "merlin brass alloy". it is nice to know it is a valid numismatic term (and why it is such a lovely coin.) Could you further explain how to clean a geocoin? I picked up a travelling plain brass coin which had started to pit. It was travelling in a velvet bag. A friend had sealed his plastic bags off with tape but regretted it and wanted poeple to be able to remove and handle them.
  22. Gooday fellow subjects of the realm, can anyone help me out with information or a trade for this "quest for the grail Geocoin." It is in presale? and seems to only be available in special red ringed format to US and canada from website. Alas i am in australia. my trading list here...in Utah! http://www.utahgeocachers.com/GeoCoin/GeoC...amp;OwnerID=137
  23. Hi Kelly, I haven't received my coins yet in australia and NONE IS ANSWERING MY EMAILS so if I do not receive a reply on this thread I will have to ask paypal to ask you if they have been shipped. (This post is probably guarantee i will find them in the letterbox this pm cheers, Carolyn
  24. "but certainly the find requirement will not change." well your silver coin is already on ebay at over double the price so if you won't let those who are/were unable to find a cache buy one from you then we will just have to drive up the market as usual It would have been nice to have one to stick in a tribute cache.
