  1. I still do it this way! A new iPhone (with GPS) is on the top of my wish-list, and later on I will buy a GPS.
  2. Welcome to us! But, do toy really need to drive to get caches?
  3. To actually log the cache is a part of the game. Some caches are ment to be harder to get, and then it would be cheeting to just take a picture from a distance and not actually log it.
  4. I heard about it some years ago, two maybe, like "they are doing geocaching", and I was like "eeh, ok?" Then som friends startet some months ago, and I thought it sounded fun, but I aldso thought that it was about going on long hikes in the forest, so I never started. Then I was babysitting their kids last friday, because they where going on a event. When I was there, they told alot about it, and explaind it to me, and I found my first cache the day after
  5. I´m Isa. A 22 year old girl from Norway, getting my first cache three days ago. Havn´t had time to write on the forum before today, but I have been reading a little bit. About all the lurkers. I don´t know if this forum is hostile, but I get the feeling that some people in this geocaching world act like polices and care a bit to much. Maybe they don´t like us newbies ´cos we don´t alway follow their rules. And if thats true, it´s not good.. Some years ago, I found my first forum, and I felt it was difficult to write there. It seemed to me like the people there new each other very good, and I felt like going over to someone on a shoppingmall that I didn´t know and just start talking with them After some time and some more forums, I understood that that is how it is! You just have to jump in it and start talking. And often the first posts are the hardest one. So, what about making more threads like this, for us newbies. Newbies to geocaching and to forums. Like: "tell about your first cache" or "here you can ask all your newbie questions". Often you feel dumb when you ask your questions, so a thread for that would be good. And at the same time, the people here who hate all those newbie questions don´t have to read that thread.
  6. I have only found he catches yet, but I have already found some bad hints. One was "watch out for mugglers", and thats kind of what geocaching is about.. And the cache is on a train station downtown a little village, it´s pretty obvious that you have to watch out for mugglers. I thought to that the hint was there to help you - when you get stuck. Give a helpful hint or don´t care!
  7. I have used my iPhone a lot when it is raining. (I live on Norway, and we don´t care about rain here!) People say that you should not even have it in your jacket when it´s raining, but I can´t stay home every day it rains, or leave my phone at home.. We was out catching yesterday, and used both an iPhone and a Samsung, and it was raining a little bit, but we didn´t care that much. But this was in our neighborhood, so we new how to get to the cache, and just used the phone/GPS the last minout or so. I don´t think I would have used it for much more time than that.. So thats really a good argument to get a GPS.
