  1. I've seen what happens when wildlife learns about MREs. It isn't pretty. Hmm, I never thought about it that way... I get the point. Thanks!
  2. Nope. Wrong answer. I wanted to do this until it was revealed to me, if they (us) find a buried container in one place, they'll start digging at the 1st one they can't find on someone elses property. I know, that I check fence post caps when I'm in a cemetary because I've found quite a few this way. If it's only partially buried (35% to 50%) as the OP suggested, then how would finding such a cache make people start digging at the 1st one they can't find on someone else's property? If anything it might make someone think they can bury one when they hide it. But then that should not get approved unless they own the property or get explicit written permission to hide one in such a manner. Thanks for all of your opinions! Wow, I'm glad I asked.
  3. Keep with it and he will... I have a toddler also. My three are 11, 9, and 18 months. Its fun for all of them. Gives them something to look forward to, I believe.
  4. Thanks Mdplayers, Here's an idea.. might be lame to you but maybe you could create a cache just for him, but don't tell him that you did and put things in it that he likes. Maybe when he finds it, it'll hook him. Maybe not, but thought I'd tell you what I was thinking anyway!
  5. Hello, My name is Hajaluke! And I'm a geocaching mom! When I first told my kids about geocaching, their eyes lit up, and you could see the excitement coursing through their veins... And then - A new favorite family past time was born. Let's get acquainted and share our joys and mishaps of geocaching with our kids. Joys - Its allows us to spend time together doing fun and educational things. Mishaps - Just yesterday, while searching for Saf-T-Man's "Queen of Grant Park" cache, we were attacked by hundred (maybe thousands) of mosquitoes! LOL... You should see us now... LUMPY BUMPY and bruised from the bites... But is was so much fun! Thanks Saf T Man!
  6. Hello There. Guidelines state that the caches cannot be buried. This is understandable since no one really wants to go digging up the earth to find the cache. My question is, do you think a partially buried (say 35-50%) large cache is acceptable? I know I could ask the admins, but I just wanted your opinion. I was thinking of placing a large cache, but not just tucking and covering it. I wanted to secure it in the earth to make sure it doesn't go anywhere to easily. What do you guys think about that?
  7. Hello! I haven't found food yet. I really don't think that caching perishable food is a good idea. But I think leaving MRE's is a good idea. They last a long time and it will provide nourishment for a hungry cacher. I plan to place a few MRE caches when the weather gets cooler here in Georgia.
