Anybody have experience with this?

I picked up a Rino 520 and 530 and was thinking about picking up the 24K map set for them. Sense they don't have a SD card slot how large of an area could I expect to put on each unit?

I thought I read on one of the forums of people putting their benchmarks into custom POI and being able to hide those points when not hunting for them. Can anybody tell me the process for doing this?

I took it out at lunch and did a little caching and I am very pleased. I love the cache notes and hints, I would not have found one without them. I did find two caches that I was not able to locate this weekend with my eMap, while others took me to the same spot as the older unit. I never lost lock even while I was in buildings. Uploading field notes directly to the website is a very nice option. So far I am very pleased with this unit and will be using it a lot in the future.

I ordered my DeLorme PN-40 late Saturday night from Walmart.com for $245 and it arrived this afternoon!!!! http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?...uct_id=10759794 To my surprise the unit came with Topo 8 not 7 shown in the product picture and came with software version 2.5.165506 manufactured 04-24-09. While setting the unit up and downloading the topo data for the state I was pleased to see I had full 3D lock on the unit at my computer...very nice. I am going to finish up the updates and take this thing out for a spin. So far I feel the downloads and updates are a little less intuitive than with my previous Garmin units but not bad once you get going. I am very pleased so far and for the price this unit is a no brainer!

I have 2008 maps loaded into my eMap now and it works fine.

Did you check to see if you were using the correct datum? My buddy had this issue in his and after selecting the correct datum life was good.

Funny, I have just ordered a PN-40 and am interested in finding Benchmarks. I am an engineer by trade but have done a fair amount of surveying. I was surprised to see that there are a lot of benchmarks in my area I have used in the past that are not logged.....fun stuff. How do you do a quary to get the benchmarks? I have not figured that out yet and would like to jump in when my PN-40 gets here. Thanks

I am a Engineer who has quite a bit of survey experience as well. I started looking at the benchmark information in my area and I am anxious to revisit and post my finds. It is interesting that I have visited and used many benchmarks on the list for my local area that have not been "published" as visited. Is there a way to load a GPX file with Mapsource, like receiving a query and uploading? Secondly I am getting a PN-40 soon and was wondering what that process would be. Thanks for the information.

Did it come with TOPO 8? If not contact DeLorme and make arrangements. Next sit tight until Mid week and wait for the release of their geocaching initiative called Cache Register. Might as well wait for the easy way to go. But hey, what do I know It shows it comes with Topo 7 but I will contact DeLorme for the upgrade. Cache register sounds like the way to go, how do you upload geocache information in bulk now without it? I see that geocaching.com has the option to load individual caches to the Pn-40, very cool.

As the title says I just purchased a DeLorme PN-40 and it will be here the middle of next week from Walmart for $249. I plan on purchasing the Map Library membership soon, cool stuff. What else should I get or what software do I need. I plan on using this unit for 40% Geocaching, 20% Hunting/Fishing, 20% Mapping ATV trails and 20% other uses. Thanks for the information.

I am in the market for a new GPS and am curious about the PN-40. I am in the process of reading information on the site but have a few questions. Can you toggle between the different maps, meaning can you have a topo map loaded then toggle to an aerial with contours ect? I have quite a bit of experience with the 60CSx, how do the compare? Strengths and weaknesses of each Which would you buy between the PN-40 or Garmin Oregon and why? Thanks for the information.

There a thread by me with a comparison of both unit side to side. I'm too lazy to go find it, maybe in the 1st 3 pages. Both unit are VERY CLOSE but a slight edge on the HCx. You should really not care about this anyway, choose the form factor you prefer instead. Thanks, I will look for it. Does the HCx do turn by turn routing like the 60CSx does? I played with this feature last night and liked what it can do.

Thanks for the pics. I am familiar with how the units work, I have been borrowing a 60csx for a few days and playing with it. I used to own a Vista( Nothing I hate more than a thief) and used it for quite some time. I am most interested if there is a difference in performance between the units? Any one shine more than the other?

Other than the obvious differences between these two units posted on the Garmin site how do the differ? Either one more user friendly than the other? Is one more accurate than the other? Is the 60csx worth the extra money? Any thoughts?

Where would I find information on the code you can enter into your profile to post stats and pictures. I see on several others profiles they have some great infromation listed....how do you do that?? Another thing I have noticed is on the cache description some can create wall paper...again any hints?? Any information or advice would be appriceated. Andrew

What are you looking at spending? I have a unit, but the card took a dump on me. The eMap works fine, but I am having a hard time finding a data card for it that is not more than what I paid for the reciever. I may just sell the unit...not sure yet.

I sniped and got one off eBay eventually. Thanks...Can you tell me more about sniping?? I have a search set up, but do not get many leads.
