  1. Thanks guys for your input. Not wanting to offend the cache owner, would the following seem ok to post as a maintenance entry? There have been adverse comments about the placement and surrounds of this cache for well-over a year now. We assume that the Fly Tipping has occurred since your original placement and are surprised that you have not taken any remedial action. Would you please consider replacing the cache in a more suitable area? (Closer to the flag perhaps?) A better location would attract many more cache visits. If you are no longer geocaching or unable to maintain the cache, we would be willing to adopt it. Please contact us via our profile with your thoughts or use "http://www.geocaching.com/adopt",to begin the adoption process, thanks. This is the cache in question GEOCACHE Thanks in advance for any advice. EDIT to rephrase the proposed log entry
  2. Hi, what is the correct procedure to adopt a cache? Visited one recently in a Fly Tip where both paper and online logs are full of adverse comments. The owner last visited GC.com in December and must have got the hint by now following 12 months of bad press. Have sent email saying I would be willing to take it over if he is no longer interested, but his account is not validated (whatever that means) and am yet to receive a reply. Are we doing ok so far? What's next pls? thanx for any help.
  3. Logs work a little differently. Try this: this is normal [blue]this is blue[/blue] this is normal. What am I missing here? Copied your example and zip. HELLLLLLP. oops - please.
  4. GC not GS. GC = first two letters of the unique cache Waypoint Code GC****

    Attributes

Whilst I find these can be very informative, I have some reservations on using some of them. CLIFFS/FALLING ROCKS - One of my caches is situated some 100 feet away from some 25 feet-high sea cliffs. Access to and from the cache area is via flat, albeit very rocky ground. Should I use the Cliff/Falling Rocks attribute to warn of their presence or not use this and risk bad press from an irate cacher who says I've endangered little johnnies life? (OK a bit extreme, but hope you get my drift) - Were the cache half way up a cliff, then ok, but then the climbing attribute comes into play. Also, by using this attribute it might actually put some people off doing my cache and that is definitely NOT what I had in mind when hiding it. SNAKES - We share this country with snakes; everyone knows this and should be aware, but by using the snake attribute, it could once again act as a deterrent from a cache. If I don't use it and 'Hissing Sid' sinks his fangs into an innocent cacher, will I be deemed to be in the wrong? DANGEROUS AREA!!! - Hmm, why is there a cache there in the first place? Thought the idea was not to try and kill fellow cachers! Any thoughts??
  8. Abandon hope all ye that enter this forum and the garden and the decorating and the ....... hey - wasting geocaching time see ya! Welcome and enjoy
  9. Does your GPSr require you to calibrate the compass? If so, DO THE DANCE. If not/already done it...... what the heck, DO THE DANCE!!
  10. Congratulations - housework just became a thing of the past!
  11. I agree, cost would be prohibitive. I make a certificate for each new cache giving the cache name, cache owner, date placed. It also has the gc.com logo with a short congratulatory note. Simple, unique and so far, well received. Cheap and cheerful.
  12. Gonna need more help with this one. Where do I paste it on my homepage? I assume you mean my profile page? No you don't cos I am supposed to link to my profile page from my home page! Er... loadsa help for the computer dummy please. PS. I know what the mouse is!!
  13. On my Account Details page there is a small box containing Brandi Sour's Stats. Is it possible to include this in any of my other pages? If so, could someone explain how please.
  14. Waymark it. Thought the Waymark idea was to enable you to find something?! mmmm not sure I'd fancy being FTF this one! Anyway, great thread with some interesting thoughts and humour. Decided it deserved to be returned to the top of the heap, er pile, er.... you know what I mean.
  15. Does anyone know the greatest recorded mileage for a Bug? (Reading on one earlier that had gone 25,000+ miles!) How about one that has remained in the wild longest?
  16. Thanks again all. I have mailed as suggested and await their reply. In the mean time, if anyone fancies a trip to the mid-atlantic to rescue 3 marooned bugs...................... lol
  17. Maps have still not appeared 48hours after listing. Should we be contacting someone? Also, the system has placed the cache West not East as completed on the reporting form! (It shows correctly on the cache page GCQWYY) This in turn has skewed the TBs mileage by over 3750 miles - wots happening? HELP!
  18. Not yet, but many thanks for your reply. We wait with excited anticipation
  19. We've just hidden our first cache (GCQWYY), but unlike others, we do not have the area and detailed maps showing on the cache page. Will these be added automatically or have we omitted something during our new cache reporting?
  20. Thanks for that Auntie Weasel. I have tried entering this reference number into searches and just get an invalid number response I guess I'm doing it wrong?
