  1. I released 3 geocoins and all are missing. Two dissapeared when the caches were stolen. The other dissapeared out of the cache with no mention in the log of it being removed. I have released 6 TBs and all are still moving. I plan on not releasing anymore geocoins. I will stick with TBs. Most of the TBs we release are released by my wife's 5th or 6th grade science/geography classes.
  2. I always post a log after trying to find a cache. The log may be a find, DNF or note.
  3. 80% of the time I cache alone. I always have the cell phone with me, just incase.
  4. Here is one that was posted to one of my caches. Spirit Field and one from our TB "Little D" the Dare Lion
  5. Thanks! Exactly what I wanted.
  6. Is there a way to seach on geocaching.com for an archived cache? I am trying to find one and do not remember the name or waypoint number. It is in zip code 60545
  7. Thanks! It worked. I received it almost instantly.
  8. Is there a way to create a new PQ and have the file emailed to you instantly? If not, is there a way to search by PQ so it creates a downloadable .gpx file which contains a large number of caches? Or do you have to download the caches one at a time to get the .gpx files. I have always created the PQ the day before and let it run overnight and have it sent to my email. But now I want to create one for todays caching.
  9. I am having the same problems. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.
  10. I am having the same problem here and I am logged in.
  11. 2 Twin Ports Geocoins. Very nice looking coins.
  12. Team Petey, I received the coins yesterday. GREAT looking coins. THANKS!
  13. Check this thread out. There are tons of threads about paperless caching. Paperless Threads
  14. I think it depends where the micros are. We enjoy the micros that take you to an interesting place/activity. The only micros that we really don't care for are the "light pole/parking lot" micros. I believe that micros should be used in places that have high muggle activity (and a large container won't work) and bring the cachers to an interesting locale. I have found some very interesting micros in downtown city locations. It is fun trying to locate and retrieve a micro when an activity (ball game, fair, festival, etc.) is going on that was the reason for the cache in the first place. Just my $0.02
  15. I wear shorts most of the time. The only exception is during the winter, when I wear long pants. Bushwacking does not bother me when I wear shorts.
  16. Well, it is not the cable. I am still getting the same error (just different COM #s) trying through serial port and/or USB. I tried deleting GSAK and reinstalling, but same error comes up. It worked before. Now I am lost and don't know what to do. I can get the waypoints to download off a laptop, but not the desktop. The only thing different between the two is that I do not hotsync the pda on the laptop. I can hotsync the pda on the desktop and get the cache notes from GSAK. I just can't download the waypoints.
  17. During the summer I tend to leave fishing items in caches that are near water. Bobbers Sinkers snap swivels stringer .....
  18. You need to install the drivers for the serial to usb adapter. My computer uses COM5 as the USB port, not COM3. -Download waypoints (.loc or .gpx) to your computer -Open the files in EasyGPS, GSAK etc -Hit send waypoints, so they are sent to the GPS unit This should work.
  19. I am now positive it is the cable. When I band the cable slightly at the serial end, I can transfer points with no problem. I guess it is time for a new cable. Thanks for the help all.
  20. I know COM1 is not USB COM1 is used when I use the serial port. I use COM5, I believe for USB. I sync a PDA through USB. I initially tried syncing my pda through COM1, but I bought a serial to USB for the PDA.
  21. I am receiving an error when I attempt to transfer waypoints from my computer to my GPSr (Legend). I am using the Garmin Serial Cable. I have tried both GSAK and EasyGPS to transfer the waypoints from my computer. I have tried transferring to two different Garmin etrex GPSrs and receive the same error message. My first guess is that the cable went bad, but I am not sure. I tried to transfer by USB and receive the same message. Here is the message ----------------------------------------------------- Error sending waypoints: [ERROR] CreateFile on 'COM1' failed: Access is denied. GARMIN:Can't init COM1 ----------------------------------------------------- Does anyone have any ideas?
  22. I just picked up a Palm VIIx cheap ($16) and it works great for paperless. I really don't see a need for an expensive PDA.
  23. Go the the caches page and up at the top right is a "log your visit" selector. Select this and follow instructions. Make sure you select "Found it".
