  1. Please do not argue with reviewers (it's not fun for either side), but if you disagree with a decision you are free to contact Groundspeak with the GC code via the appeals email address appeals@Groundspeak.com. from experience there is a real chance of your appeal being upheld I have said sorry, unarchived caches and retracted actions on a number of occasions, sounds like you are just unaware of these instances. The logs are on this cache tell the story. Drivers have been shouting and using their horn which is an avoiding action. In the instance of your cache, I was told that a cacher was approached by a Police Officer and was informed they could be fined for being there. Instead of arguing with the PC, they did the right things and moving away from the location. The cacher did not get the PC's number so I do not have this information to provide to you. You however did state that a member of your family owned the item the cache was placed on. I asked you for proof of this and I am still waiting. When I receive this proof I will publish a cache of yours in this location. 2. No hard feelings taken :-) If you want to go to appeals there is no hard feelings there either, that is what they are there for.
  3. Just spotted your question, there is not an overall reviewer, but you can appeal to Groundspeak directly. Email them (appeals@Groundspeak.com) with the GC code and the reasons you feel that the cache should remain in this location. They will then have a look for you. 4. The safety of cachers is their own responsibility and as the cache is on a designated crossing I published it. It now appears that innocent drivers are being put at risk by people in the central reservation and they have been taking avoiding action. For this reason I have asked that the cache be relocated away from the road for the safety of the drivers who unlike cachers can not assess the risk before they arrive at GZ. With hindsight I would not have published it, but you live and learn. 5. The big cat has been found in a local walldrobe. When asked what he was doing there by the local Police he replied 'Narnia business'
  6. But not this weekend, MAGIC is down and looks like it might be down all weekend On the bright side, I might get some caching done over the long weekend
  7. Groundspeak have said that a cache can be enabled by the owner once the location is no longer being used by the Olympics. If a venue is not being used by the Paralympics that means it can be enabled now If the venue is being used by the Paralympics then please wait until after the games. 9. If they give all the reviewers a 1% pay cut, that should cover it
  10. Huh, then this should likely never have been published. The 2 mile rule only applies to Puzzle/Mystery/unknown types. Multis are not included
  11. You're not that far out of the loop Provided the final is within 2 miles of the published coordinates, the stages can be a far away as you like. Just play nice and tell people what to expect in terms of distances involved. 12. For a puzzle cache, the final location must be within 2 miles of the published location. Each of the legs should be added as waypoints. If you place something at the location, the waypoint should be a 'stage of a multicache' and this needs to be 528 feet from any other physical stage of any other cache. If you do not place an item at the location, the waypoint should be a 'question to answer' and these are not considered for proximity to other caches. Solving stages on-line is fine provided people do not need to sign up to a website in order to find the cache. Whilst not a requirement, if the puzzle involves some extended travelling, it would be helpful to indicate on the cache page how much travelling is required so potential finders can decided if they want to find the cache or not. If you put the cache into the review queue, your local reviewer can have a look and help you through the process if it is required. 13. I don't get a lot of hassle, just a bit now and again. The vast majority of messages I get are thank-yous and these are what makes it worth while. All of the other reviewers globally had an input in my appointment and they are customers whilst Groundspeak had the final decision. I will agree that the majority of the customers had no input. However how many other businesses allow their customers to have an input into the selection of those delivering their services? I regularly attend meets as do the other reviewers and have been known to express my personal views to those that ask/listen/care . My personal views and beliefs do not affect my reviewing as I have often published caches as Red Duster that I wouldn't want to search for as Unobtainium (previously Andy K!) and I know the other reviewers have and will continue to do this. If you would like to get to know your local reviewer, I would suggest watching your local events and attend one when he/she is also attending. As a reviewer I am a volunteer to Groundspeak and I do not represent Geocachers. The GAGB committee are elected and do represent Geocachers in the UK. The reviewers discussions are private intentionally to maintain the confidentiality that Geocachers must be able to expect. These will not be made public, but our actions are obviously subject to scrutiny . 14. Yes, but jury service is only for a few weeks . Luckily Signal issues new reviewers with standard issue flak jackets and thick skin. 15. Hi Hornet, The guideline is a GAGB guideline. If you disagree with it, should you not post this thread in their forum?
  16. Urban caches are NOT disallowed. There is however, an urban guideline on the GAGB website aimed to minimise the chances of a second Whetherby for locations that are overlooked. You can review them here: http://gagb.co.uk/what-is-geocaching/cache-guidelines/#item6 Andy Red Duster Volunteer UK Reviewer for geocaching.com UK Geocaching Information & Resources website www.follow-the-arrow.co.uk Geocaching.com Knowledge Books
  17. I hope there are no requirements one the reviewers to subjectively make decisions on quality. I get in enough trouble with caches which are objectively in SSSI's Andy Red Duster Volunteer UK Reviewer for geocaching.com UK Geocaching Information & Resources website www.follow-the-arrow.co.uk Geocaching.com Knowledge Books
  18. Thanks GeekyNinja, I'm sure that was not easy and shows great character!
  19. You can put 'question to answer' stages in the woods, but not physical stages, which are anything physically placed there by the owner. This would include tags. If you use the MapIt tool all you need to do is enter the location. Once the map appears, do not pan or you will loose the location. If you then click on the 4th icon from the left you can enter a distance and then click on the map. This then returns a report of all the areas within the specified distance. There is more information on MAGIC maps at www.follow-the-arrow.co.uk under 'map resources'. It is fair to say, you get an eye for the colours on the map. 20. Sounds like a reasonable suggestion, try suggesting it here and it might happen. Andy Red Duster Volunteer UK Reviewer for geocaching.com UK Geocaching Information & Resources website www.follow-the-arrow.co.uk Geocaching.com Knowledge Books

  22. This thread has got me thinking as I've not had one of these before, so I've done a bit of digging. Although my initial feeling was no, provided the response is automated (which it would be) it would be allowable. 23. Just to be absolutely clear, I will treat these caches as I would any other cache.
