  1. Assuming you use Internet Explorer all you need to do is open the cache page then go to the menu at the top and click on File save as. Choose your flash drive and a copy will be save there. To open it up all you need to do is open up your flash drive and then open up the saved cache page.
  2. I am looking at trying paperless cacheing but as far as I can see using PQ's as the base data only gives the last 5 logs. I am now thinking that if I used the concept from the above macro to update GSAK for the caches that I planned to do that day, then I would then get 20 logs into GSAK which is more or less what I currently print out. Thanks for the thought, most helpful.
  3. GE uses degs mins and seconds for lat/log co-ords as opposed to degs mins that we tend to use for co-ords. To convert between them take the GE seconds and divide by 60 then add to the mins ie using your example 55 55 24.74 . translates to N55 55.4125 i.e. (24.74)/60 = 0.4125 Hope this makes sense.
  4. At lunchtime to day I ventured back to George Square and fired up v2.50. (this version is currently still on the garmin website) Following a chat with an other cacher this morning I was expecting that I would get a poor accuracy and then it would settle. So while having a sandwich I waited for it to settle. Thankfully it did and it quickly looked like everything was back to normal. phew! I then decided to re-load v2.51 and the record what happened. Putting back the old version reset most of the settings however going from v2.50 to v2.51 did not do this so the unit got a lock almost instantly. The accuracy was also not bad and it quickly came down to acceptable levels. Having now finished the sannie I then thought that I would sit about a bit more and record the readings over a 20 min period. All the time doing this, the unit and me were both static. A few of the screen shots taken are shown below. As you can see the repoted location moves about a bit but does settle down. To make this a bit clearer, I have plotted all the readings I took on to a graph so that you can see the apparent movement of my static position. (Note that I have scaled the grid so that it has similar linear distances N/S and E/W.) The order of the readings is given by the number in the center and the diameter of the circles gives the accuracy. i.e. a reading of +/- 2m is shown with a diameter of 4m. If I assume that points 1 to 5 is still the device settling down after the reload which leaves points 6 - 10. These fall into a circle of about 5m diameter. I suppose that as the accuracy at that time was +/- 2m then a 5m spread of the points is probably to be expected. Just thought I would post this as I was surprised at the spread of the readings over what was a 40 min period and that I did not appreciate how long it would take the device to settle down after the reload.
  5. Thought I would give it a go and it downloaded fine and the unit re-booted with no issues. However, when using it in earnest, a different story emerged. One of the alleged fixes was to improve the WAAS signal processing however in practice the accuracy has gone bananas. In George Sq in Glasgow (always sure of getting a quick lock here) I found that the accuracy was only +/- 20m I then went south to the river and although I still had 4 solid sats locked on the accuracy went down to +/- 82m (never ever seen it this bad before) and the compass was all over the place. Now back at the office and glad to say that the previous version can be installed on top of the old one. So V2.50 is now back on again so will venture out at lunch time and see what is what.
  6. Its just that I have a Tb that I left in a cache and has just vanished having gone nowehere. i.e. it would be nice to remove it from my page as it will now be perminantly stuck at 0.
  7. Can a TB (that I own) be deactivated? if so how? Any suggestions?
  8. Just updated the event page to add in links to the four new caches being placed for the event. Also the number of TB's in the cache has now risen to 58! See you all tomorow. Big Wolf
  9. Event now listed on the front page of http://www.geocaching.com/
  10. Weather forecast for Saturday: dry, coldish, clouds. Not bad for the 60 or so that we expect to attend. Also there are now 40 TB's in the swap pot.
  11. Closing the topic as the thread is continued elsewhere.
  12. Its dead as the proverbial Dodo. Looks like the web server is OK but the underlying database that drives the whole thing is not working. I can get the front page but cant login or do anything else.
  13. Now there is some life but but its running like a pig. Looks like a server crash.
  14. I can only get a server error page! has the server died on us?
  15. Only a few days to go and it looks like there will be about 60 of us at the event. Name badges have now been printed to drop me a line if you have not already done so.
  16. The new picture function is a bit hit or miss as the size of the images are not consistant nor are they placed on the screen so that they can bee seen. Have a look at Corrie and then hover over the cache page photos as listed below. Heritage Trail in particular cant be seen. 17. Thanks to those who have emailed with thier updates. Looks like it is going to be the biggest gathering at a SGDO yet.
  18. I have just added up all those who said they would or may come to the event and have listed them below. It looks like there should be about 50 people in total but could you have a check and get in touch with me if either your name is not on the list, you are not going to be able to make it or if the number of people coming in your party has changed. 19. All caches within 5000m of the event have now been added to a bookmark list. The names of the 4 caches placed for the event are: - Lions Den, The Muttonhole, Ancient Almond Moorings and Way up high See the event cache page for more details.
  20. There will be 4 caches set for the day. I will also create a bookmark list for those caches nearby and will put another post to this and the geox thread once its live.
  21. My queries eventually ran and emails arrived a bit later. Normally they take up to 15-10 mins when I tick the box to re-run an old query but today it appears to have taken a few hours. It may have been as it was around midnight (PST) and the system was chewing through all the pq's that were scheduled to run on saturday. What ever, its all back to normal for me now.
  22. Thanks, one has now come through so looks like the others will come eventually Just checked again and now all have arrived.
  23. Has anyone else notied that they have not got a PQ after they have submitted it? I set up 3 queries 3 hrs ago and so far they have not run? I have seen a couple of posts in the UK section but wondered if anyone else has had a problem
  24. re the 'Tools / Grab Coordinates' feature. This is great but the following cache does not work. Cache ie I cant grab the co-ords for the intermediate points. looking at the HTML in the long description I see If I manually edit the waypoint long description to remove the º symbol i.e. Then it work just fine. Looks like more of an oversight than a bug as all the other pages I have tried work just fine. Could this be included or is it macro time!
