  1. Their patrons have more chance being burned by the soup than a cacher being injured.
  2. Good suggestions all. Have emailed both users. Send shipping info to bob. Will let y'all know how it plays out.
  3. I'm loaded up with golden sabres, so over penetration is less of an issue. Still, rule number one is always to be sure of your target and what's beyond. I've never had to skin my hogleg in self defense-- to a bear or otherwise. But I'm ready if need be.
  4. Maybe a grizzly. I've killed bears with a bow, so I feel like I've got a cannon when I'm carrying my pistol.
  5. In my defense... I did try and search. Please forgive me.
  6. Well, for the most part, I keep my caching and hunting separate. Except on one notable saturday when I took my bow with me caching. Found the cache. Didn't kill any deer. But that was fine... would have been a long haul out from the cache site. LOL! I don't know about where you are, but here you can't hunt within 100 feet of your vehicle, so unless those boys climbed a ways from their truck, they'd be breaking the law. Not to mention trespassing if it was private property. Unfortunately, it's the few slobs that give the rest of the consciencious hunters a bad name.
  7. I've got a fun travel bug that I put into play because some LOTR characters were making the rounds through local caches. Problem is he went 18 whole miles before a n00b with 1 find found him and has gone missing. I have sent emails twice and gotten no response. Should I email him and offer to pay the shipping to get the bug back, or just consider it gone? This sure is frustrating.
  8. Whoops, meant to put this in the general forum. Move it or not, 'sok with me. Sorry.
  9. This may have been done before, but who carries when caching? I often carry my S&W 686 in .357 Mag, but we live in bear country, too. Anybody else?
  10. Sounds good. I know at least one of the cache owners is working on this. If he's successful, perhaps we can "repopulate" the area.
  11. I found one of these coins last week in a cache in Pittsburgh. I think it's awesome. Thanks, Santa!
  12. Regarding the caches removed/archived from the WVU research forest (Cooper's Rock) I finally got a response to my inquiries why. Looks as if they're not forbidden after all. But they have all been archived already. Keystone, if you are reading, what can be done to unarchive 5th for WV, Gradual Descent, Amy's Hemlock Trail, etc?
  13. I had one in a wooded portion of my property, but near the house. It was visited several times, but people commented in their logs that they felt a bit weird. One local cacher that I respect posted a note that he would not bevisiting, after driving by the coords. I decided that a cache that discouraged potential cachers wasn't much of a cache. So I relocated it nearby, but on public land and away from prying eyes. I'm much more satisfied with it now. If I had a lot of acreage, I'd likely put one on there, but I'd have to disable it for half the year during hunting seasons. The last thing I want is to be working a big gobbler or have a nice deer in range and then have some yahoo come crashing through the brush! LOL.
  14. Re: my 12/17 note in Back to School! Redux, what is the conventional wisdom for such behavior? Out of line? Perfectly fine? Different strokes for different folks? This is the first time I've done something like this, and I want to know if I should hang my head in shame, or if it's SOP. Thanks, Bears.
  15. I do know that. Even though it's in my cache, I thought I'd leave it for somebody else.
  16. LOL. It will be. Says me, the Texas Aggie.
  17. How did folks get these for distribution? I own a new '05 Jeep, and I sure didn't get one. Would have been fun to start on their way. Is there a way to get on the list for next time? Sorry if this is a rehashed topic... I'm a n00b.
