  1. I use a Garmin eTrex as my primary GPS'r utilizing the Pocket Query function on geocaching.com. It works great and most of my Queries contain the maximum 1,000 caches. However I have been trying off and on to download my Queries into the official Geocaching app on my Android phone so I can use the phone as my GPS'r in offline mode. I can successfully download the Query but not able to display them on a map. Is there a size limit in the amount of caches that can be displayed using the Geocaching app? The puzzling thing is that I have also tried the c:geo app and I can get the entire 1,000 caches to display in offline mode. Problem is I prefer the official Geocaching app. Any suggestions?
  2. Thanks for your reply but it sounds too complicated for me. I will use another method to hide my coords.
  3. I am trying to create my first mystery/puzzle cache. I would like to use a technique I saw another (local) cacher use but I don't know how they did it. I want to add coordinates in the properties of one of my photos. They should show up on the 'Details' tab under 'Comments' - this is where I found coordinates from another cacher's photo. I can easily add the coords to my photo and upload it. However when I test it by downloading and looking at the properties my comments plus all the other details are gone. My photo is attached. What am I missing?
  4. You'd think the two teams would collaborate considering how closely the two apps are connected. Are they aware of the problem?
  5. I thoroughly agree with the above two posts. The map is fine in urban areas but useless in parks. Why can't the Adventure Lab app use the same map interface as the Geocaching app? After all, they are both developed by the same organization aren't they?
  6. Hi - another user pointed me to your post regarding resetting my exploristGC counter. As it happens the Geocache Summary (under Tools) says 0 finds yet when I look in the Awards page I find cache counts for Types of Geocaches Found. How do I clear these numbers? Maybe another entry in same .xml file?
  7. I am giving my old Magellan explorist GC to my grand-daughter but want to clear the entire memory. I have gone into Settings, Memory and erased the memory as well as restored the factory settings however my history of finds still shows up in the counter in the Awards page. I tried finding the counter folder when connected to my laptop but no luck. Does anyone know how to clear my history of finds? Thanks.
  8. OK thanks for the explanation.
  9. Regarding the factory reset. I have bought a new GPS device and am giving my old explorist GC to my grand-daughter. I have reset the device to factory default but have discovered that it does not clear Types of Geocaches Found under the Awards screen which is in the Tools section. Does anyone know how to remove this historic data?
  10. Thanks for your response niraD. I did discover that the icon annoyingly returned to the original position. I do hope they make a change as people have requested.
  11. I have solved a couple of mystery caches and changed the coordinates to the correct ones on the website. Once I change the coordinates the icon changes from a question mark into a box shaped thingy in blue circle. Its location also moves to the new (solved) coordinates. However once I log the find the icon disappears completely. Is this a bug?
  12. Thanks icezebra11. I managed to find it in the end.
  13. How do I join the Friend League? I've earned 3 Planetary souvenirs but don't know how to find out how many points I have. Is this Friend League a new thing?
  14. If you loaded 500 caches on your GC then the 1/100 is correct because that is showing the page number that you're looking at an each page on the GC contains 5 caches. Therefore 100 pages of caches would be 500 caches... So everything is fine... David Magellan Insider Oh! That is so obvious now! Thanks for your reply and I'll try not to feel so silly...........
  15. I downloaded a pocket query of 500 geocaches to my Explorist GC but I can only see 100 of them on the Geocache screen. I think I have 500 on the GPS because I see 500 on the top right (under 1/100) but don't know how to access them. Any suggestions?
  16. Thanks Cattleman. I do hope you are right but I guess I will have to wait and find out for sure next month.
  17. Will my eXplorist GC automatically pick up local satellite settings when I travel to New Zealand next month? I ask because I was told by a friend that some GPS have a problem when they are used in the southern hemisphere.
