  1. Thinking that they did things go wrong on purpose is something that doesn't make sense.

Maybe... Well maybe they tried to set things up in a good way. For example, the revamped Cache Along a Route would make things easier for those planning trips, like to GW7. It's not working 100%.

Things did not go as planned. That happens. I'm sure they're working HARD to get it running.

Too bad that some are always hoping that something will fail so that they can vent rants in the forums.

    *sigh*

  2. The US Air Force explains the whole scenario:

Air Force Responds to GPS Outage Concerns

The sky isn't falling and neither is the Global Positioning System, the U.S. Air Force said during a Twitter news conference. "No, the GPS will not go down," tweeted Col. Dave Buckman of the Air Force's Space Command. "GAO points out, there is potential risk associated with a degradation in GPS performance."

  4. Para além dos updates instalados (ver aqui), houve também a necessidade de instalar alguns patches nos servidores. Parece que a coisa correu mal e afectou diversas áreas do site, entre as quais a sua performance.

O problema deve estar resolvido dentro de horas. :-)

  5. I'm just hoping it becomes a success. Sorry.

I can see advantages in taking the kids outside. Sorry if they're going to do it with your coordinates and logging the visits in your logbooks.

Sorry that I'm not complying with all catastrophic visions about kids having fun with an affordable GPS, that yes, it has limitations and eventually some work to be finished.

A kid that, eventually, finds geocaching fun it will "drag" parents to the activity and I'm pretty sure that they won't blindly look at the arrow. Eventually, they'll move to another gps and a somewhat active membership here.

  6.

I think anybody that buys these will have some idea what they are buying it for. I agree that there should probably be more description in the paperwork, but when I look over some of the posts made on this forum it's pretty clear to me that spelling things out on the website is not fool-proof either. Registered members using full-featured GPS units seem to be able to ignore/misread some of the more important guidelines on a regular basis.

    Great post! Totally agree.

Some are making a REALLY big deal out of this. So, next time, Groundspeak should speak to each one of you about your views over the next products - When in fact, it's not needed, as it is clearly written in TOU.

Go caching. Follow the arrow - and read the description.

  7. Where in the world are you needing to upload "a dozen of photos"??

I have one listing page with 8 images and a log entry or 2 with 3 images. Not sure the vast majority of users would ever need such a tool. But maybe you can explain this a bit more??

Just because you and some don't upload more than 1 picture per month it doesn't mean it's not a nice to have feature. As you can see by the OP profile, they have plenty of pictures taken. Such as we, and such as many geocachers.

It would be a nice feature, yes. I also believe that something like that is probably on the works by Groundspeak.

    Testem. :-)

Ora vejam a minha situação aqui: http://live.geocaching.com/maps.php?action...follow,cid,2033

  10. First thing: A Colorado or an Oregon or any other GPS outdoor unit is built to run outdoors. So, it can handle a fall, some pressure over the screen, water, etc.

A Pocket PC, with an exception of a very few units, is not designed for the field.

You can run almost anything in a Pocket PC. There are plenty of navigation software you can run. Paperless caching is also a reality. There are many choices around.

Pocket PC has also wi-fi or mobile broadband which can also be a good thing.

I have a pocket pc and it works great. Still, I'd be better with one of those units (such as the CO or OR). I have to take extra care when I take mine unit out in woods.

  11. Nature pics! Great!

We had a "bath" of Nature a couple of weeks ago, in Azores, Portugal. In the island of São Miguel.

We got 47 of the 49 caches. All of them GREAT! (even that urban nano).

    Here's some pictures taken there:
