  1. Well, someone's trying. Which is a good idea, really. Try contact @ geocaching.com
  2. Because that's the last place anyone would look when coming across a locked container. I would remove the remaining locks to make the containers easier to access for anyone else who may be transferring travel bugs, either with the key, a shim (you can make one out of an aluminium can) or bolt cutters.
  3. If a cache holding TBs is padlocked and there's no puzzle to find the key or combination, the lock should be cut if it's the only way to rescue the bugs.
  4. I never even look at the number of favorite points to determine if a cache is good or not, so it wouldn't matter to me.
  5. Is there any plan to restore the avatars to their original size? They're not pixelated anymore, but they still don't look good this small. That, uh...doesn't look like a fire extinguisher. Sure it does. The small part that protrudes is the hose.
  6. This is precisely what I do. Of course, it helps to reattach the pen and not leave it in the cache itself... Don't leave the GPS in the cache either.
  7. The forums are an extension of geocaching.com, so it's not possible to register directly on the forums. If you require another forum account, make a new geocaching account.
  8. They should make an attribute for skateboards too.
  9. More like they gave it away. I think the videos are long enough that anyone who wanted to avoid seeing the location of a cache could exit it in time. Anyone who clicks on a video with geocaching in the title, notices a location in their area, and fails to stop the video didn't exactly have their fun "stolen". Besides, food (including nuts) shouldn't be placed in caches and even if they were, videoing them wouldn't spoil the cache.
  10. Or they'll process the payment manually.
  11. I've always found the little message in the Abuse Prevention section pretty funny. "...your IP address and what actions you take are logged..." Oh no! I better get this puzzle right on the first try or else... there'll be a record that I didn't get it right on the first try.
  12. My ADHD varies depending on the circumstances. It's a very good excuse for getting out of just about anything and no one's figured it out yet, so please don't give the secret away. A log is only fake the poster tries to present it as real. Since all these finders said they never visited the location, the logs aren't fake at all.
  13. You don't become an expert or proclaim yourself an expert. You turn expert mode on or off depending on your own preference. With expert mode off you get the new submission procedure. The one that holds your hand through each step, double checks your entries, has multiple screens and presents nothing that could trip up someone who is new to geocaching. With expert mode on you get something like the old submission page. Everything is very compact on one page, very little hand holding or on screen explanations to make thing compact. Features like being able to use multiple DATUMS for cache location can be added to the expert mode and hidden from those that prefer not to use the expert mode. What if you're Cardinal Red and don't know if you're an expert or not? There should be a guided process to help you determine that.
  14. I used to use an extra Blackberry USB cord to charge my LG phone (before I got a Blackberry myself). Somehow the phone knew and displayed a "This cable is not recommended for this phone" message but it charged anyway.
  15. Or the cache owner, if they feel it's necessary.
  16. Yes it is. There are links to other articles on the news page, and clicking them makes things happen. That's interactivity. No, but a CO could use the ability to embed JavaScript for purposes other than dynamic content if they were so inclined.
  17. A cache on your own property would definitely be the easiest to get permission for. I wouldn't have any reservations about finding a cache like this.
  18. After removing caches or trackables from the watchlist, the confirmation message has Yes and Cancel buttons next to them.
  19. That's funny! I know the device as a 'hip chain'. Related to those pull through gadgets for measuring rope for sale. That's the word! Don't know why I couldn't think of it earlier.
  20. You can't. Click the report button on your post and explain that you solved your problem and would like your topic closed.
  21. You can try removing the background with Channels in Photoshop and use the other tools to further tweak it until as little of it is left as possible. For the word search, just type it all manually into this solver. That'll teach the CO for using these pesky background shenanigans.
  22. There have been a lot of these topics lately, please see the link in my signature to determine when it is appropriate to post them.
  23. I think the actual device is called a yard chain or something, but I can't remember. Pretty much it's a box with a spool of string in it, and it has a counter for measuring how much string is pulled out. My dad has one and when I was 4 the kids from our apartment complex and I got it and made a huge web in the yard.
  24. You can use it as a companion to a GPS to view cache data. But the iPod doesn't have a built in GPS receiver like the iPhone does, so you need a GPS. You can purchase a GPS attachment for your iPod, but for the same price it would be better to just buy a GPS.
