  1. Of all the places to look for camouflaged containers just off the beaten path, I don't think the place where people are blowing other people up in the name of god is a good destination. It just has bad idea written all over it. I don't need a souvenir and a simile that bad.
  2. I have over 8000 loaded on mine and I am no where near a rabbid cacher with my 80 some odd finds. If I go somewhere for the day I want to be ready as I can be 70 miles form home in no time. Inevidebly with 8000 caches when I do go for one I always seam to pick one that hasn't been dissabled or appears missing.
  3. I am in the area that moga is going to be so I saw the alert when the original cache was published. I don't remember seeing anything in it that advertised much of anything. I also saw when it was archived and when another even cache was made. I didn't see any difference from the old one to the new one.
  4. What in the world is the m word and why does it matter? Unless it is something that shafted groundspeek at one point or another then what is the bid deal? It isn't like there is an actual competitor to this place.
  5. All of you have brought up very valid points. I guess I didn't think about the neighbor aspect. I am so used to not having neighbors to care about that it didn't even cross my mind. Around this town I would probably be thought of as a drug dealer. I was thinking of making an interesting mailbox post and putting a cache on it but the more I think, it wouldn't be a good idea.
  6. I might be purchasing a place at some point and was wondering if anyone that has placed caches at the place that they live have had any issues from it. I know what you might get people looking for it at all hours of the night but is there any more negatives than positives about it?
  7. I would hide them in the bottom of a trash can and never speak of them again. I don't know why anyone would think that sticking fake electrical equipment on real electrical equipment would be a good idea but that seams to be the only place anyone hides them. I would find it much more interesting if they showed up on something that you would never expect it to be on. Kinda make it one of those caches that make you think "what in the world is that doing there?"
  8. If you had permission to use the spot then you should be able to use the spot if the other guy didn't get permission. If you didn't have permission then you are sol.
  9. Has anyone mentioned that p&g's would be a pain?
  10. I just got off the phone with a certified Eletrical Engineer. His feild of study being power systems. He is also Department Head for a major Universty. According to him the standard for lamp post in the US and Canada is 110/120. Some will run 210/220. Major lighting like at stadiums will run 440/480. He said in all his 35+ years in the field he has never heard of anything that was 347v. In fact his words were, "Even in the former Soviet Union where they did some weird s$%# have I ever heard of that." BTW: Standard in the UK is 250. Yes there is 347 volt electrical systems and yes it is a canadian thing. It is not weird and is completely normal(well it is weird to a electrician in the US). There are 347/600 volt systems.
  11. Eneloop batteries are the only rechargeable worth the time. They are also relabled under the duracell name also. Look for the precharged duracells that are made in japan. They are the exact same battery. They are very tolerant to abuse and poor charging.
  12. If you look through the list of caches found by him is says that the user found it on 10/10/2006 yet the log says 1/1/1996 so... a glitch.
  13. I had an idea similar to this. It was going to be a nano so small that the log would only have the letters of the alphabet on it. The numbers would be randomized so you would just have to post the letter you crossed off on the log. I would have a copy of the log so I would know if someone actually went there or not. I would also know if someone didn't cross of a letter. It wouldn't be that hard to keep track of logs. I figure if someone was going to go to the trouble of trying to guess the order of the numbers to armchair log it then you aren't going to stop them no matter what you do. I don't see why it would be so bad to log that way. If you aren't going to maintain the cache then it doesn't matter if it has an alr or something else like that. It will be dealt with eventually.
  14. I just logged 2 finds 32 seconds ago and nothing. Whats the deal?
  15. So this must also mean that the op will never go caching in Australia.
  16. Out of spite I am going to make a bush cache, then find it and give it a favorite point. Then I am going to chop down the bush and re-hide it in the op's area as a new cache. Oh wait.......I am gonna find a figure of former president George Bush and hide a cache in its butt.
  17. Err, I guess at least it isn't just in the US. Sorry. I don't spell well and didn't pay much attention to the correction. I meant intentionally. It's OK, MooseJawSpruce... you can call off the NSA. It was just a typo. Well, they would be certain to get to the bottom of it. Didn't mean to make you feel bad. Sorry. *Sniff* Its ok...*sniff* When I saw this thread I thought who was sticking caches in live animals butts. I duno why that is where my mind went to.
  18. Err, I guess at least it isn't just in the US. Sorry. I don't spell well and didn't pay much attention to the correction. I meant intentionally.
  19. What what in the....HEY don't stick that there!!!!!!!!! I duno what is more disturbing. People hiding caches in animals butts or people thinking that people are intentionally hiding caches in animal butts
  20. You are in the same boat as Iowa. You can count the minorities on one had at any given time. Even in the cities. Get out of the mid west and that will change. Your chances of seeing minorities are slim because if it wasn't, they wouldn't be called minorities. But when you do see one they will stick out like a sore thumb. Then apply those percentages to geocaching and your chances are even slimmer. Although, being a fat white guy(I am only 28 so that is old depending on who you ask), it does seam like there is alot of us on here.
  21. edit: spelling I don't know, is the OP the author of that log? Yeah, Terse, but far from cyberbullying. I'm sure I've written a few terse logs over the years. I could also see some people thinking cyberbullying if the cache owner was a kid, which is very possible, not knowing a Homeowner's association common area from a City Park. But I suppose there are plenty of adults who couldn't figure that one out either. Thew CO looks to be about 14 years old. I'm sure many schools these days have programs to make kids ultra aware of cyber bulling and they may see it were most of us wouldn't. I thought the log was fine. Heck, he's lucky it wasn't a NA log. It probably should be archived unless the cache has the permission of the homeowner's association. If that is what is considered cyberbullying it go right in the ranks of not grading papers with red ink cause it makes the kids feel bad and we are all winners in this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Yeah I had tried that and wasn't to impressed with the results but it might have to do.
  23. I am trying to figure out how to print a map of an area like a city so that I can have a reference of where the caches are. I just can't get the hang of the gps maps in the cache dense areas. I also think that my nuvi doesn't show all the caches all the time. If anyone could help me figure out how to do this it would be a great help.
