  1. this bug belongs to the diabetes people, it is not technically "your's" you are just granted the opprotunity to start it. you do not need to activate it. it is already active. just put in the number like you found it and drop as normal.

    See you on the trails.

  2. I feel that unless specified by the CACHE owner that would like one dropped for one picked up TB's and coins are fair game at any time. as a tb owner i want my tb to move not sit and wait for someone who has one to trade.

and about keeping coins, some people use wooden ones as a sig item, i know i do, and those are fair game. if you come across one of my wooden ones feel free to keep it.

  3. when the gps tells you you are 10 ft or so away. shut it off put it in your pocket and start thinking "where would i hide it" then touch everything, look for the obvious, piles of sticks, rock walls, stumps. i bring a walking stick to "sound" the snow around these objects. good luck and have fun.

  4. I tried the bow method and got only smoke, the "drill" kept flying off in many directions. got a steel and flint for christmas, took my son (9) geocaching and started to try my hand at the flint and had him try the 3 matches that came in a geocaching survival kit made by dan foster that i got out of a cache one day. had to eventually resort to the flint and cotton in jelly to work, got a very healthy fire while he pissed thruogh the matches i gave him. we are going to try again. eye glasses are a concave lens while a magnifying glass is convex, eye glasses would make a poor fire starter. i would love to be the first person on survivor to start fire with wood.

  5. I did just that on Christmas Eve.

Found a trashed cache in a nice area. It appears that the cache has been neglected for some time according to logs since September 30. Yeah, almost three months. By the time I got to it, there was virtually nothing left.

I happened to have a suitable cache container in my van, so I went back and replaced it, complete with a bunch of decent swag.

I was planning on hiding my very first cache, but decided to fix this one instead. My way of giving back to the geocaching community.

I emailed the owner, but have not yet heard back.

I have done this, also i carry extra log books for when i find a full one, and extra swag in my bag in case i hit an empty one. i note this in my log. usually the owner contacts me and says thanks.
