  1. Couldn't we keep the small border on all the pages except the individual cache viewing page? (I dont' care for borders at all, however) At least then people could have their borders just on the individual cache pages. If that's too much work, let's just leave it how it is. I also like the idea of the wide border at the bottom for those who want to customize. One question, why are the buttons at the upper right on a cache page of different textures?
  2. Hmm... Good point. I may reduce the width to a lower percentage to allow more greenspace to show up. I was just trying to maximize the viewing area for smaller browsers. It is GREAT having less wasted space on the sides. Please keep it reduced, I love it! thanks!
  3. I miss that little boy.. I remember it as one of the first images I saw when I started in 2002.
  4. I found a nice TB recently in a bag with nice laminated directions for logging it. I'm wondering if anyone else includes TB info and what you print exactly.
  5. I have to post again.. You guys are making a VERY good point. The idea is to reduce waste in the environment. Here people are spending perfectly good cach to go and buy specially made plastic bags so they can throw them into a dumpster with the gathered trash. That CITO bag also ends up in the environement, like a landfill. And you've produced extra waste in the process. I too reuse bags that have already been reused once or so.
  6. I totally agree with you on this one.. but using that horid made up word linked to another to form what, an adjective? Awful! Onlookers, Mundanes, anything but MUGGLE!
  7. Everyone should send him an email... Here is mine: Michael, I read your article with the above title. I too grew up in the Salem area. I'm an avid outdoorsman and a geocacher. You wrote your article either from ignorance or bad-will. You see, geocaches are not at all allowed in Wilderness areas, but that is not the picture you paint. Geocaching.com does not approve any such caches. The article has a particular slant and portrays a certain attitude. You enjoy the outdoors, but you have a real problem with Backpacker, geocaching.com, or a GPSr company telling people where the good spots are. You want these spots all to yourself obviously. Now really, that's just not fair. You should appreciate the fact that more people are enjoying the outdoors and an active lifestyle. Work with us to minimize the impact.
  8. Gixxer - I think virtuals carry just as much respect as finding a can. They can be difficult to find and are often more worthwhile than a bison can. Jeremy and the rest, I guess there is just a disagreement about what kind of cache is better. I don't know why we need to limit the sport, rather than letting it evolve in a structured and appropriate way. If people want tasteful virtuals, why stand in the way? Just so they aren't stupid. I'd also like to not see so many "micros in a guardrail" approved.
  9. The topic brought back from the dead, eh? No they aren't. The only way they could be intertwined is if you're supporting a lame virtual with a lame micro. Cache quality may be the tangental issue, but tangental is another word for "off topic." A lame virtual is as bad as a lame micro, and visa versa. there are many great virtuals better than most micros. These just have to be carefully screened by approvers. Really Jeremy, wouldn't you rather be taken to a marvelous historic building you never knew was there and requested to read a historical marker, giving you new knowledge, than taken out to the woods and forced to dig through the dirt until you finally find a little metal can with a wet piece of paper inside? Obviously outright banning one type doesn't seem the answer. the issue is cache quality we need a rating system I'd love to vote 1 to 5 stars, just like on netflix.
  10. I really have to agree. Besides, many "boxes" in the woods are really lame micros with soaked and full logs, that aren't any better than logging a telephone poll.
  11. i have a couple micros ready and a couple nice ammo cans. There are so many quality items in the ammo cans that I can't think of a good place to put them. I'm actually afraid they might get stolen after buying so many items. These aren't your average McCaches. I think I'm going to take a long hike into the bush and list as members only .
  12. Well, I got a personal email from co admin. Does anyone REALLY think this thread go to heated?! Was my one line post really foul language or a flame? Come on! Unbelievable!
  13. Not by geocaching.com. You'd have to setup the website on your own. Why the favoritism?
  14. Thanks for that silly political assertion. Keep your bais to yourself.
  15. Please DO read those logs. This is exactly why I don't think we should call them "muggles" any more...
  16. Well, thanks for listening anyway, and thanks for this forum!
  17. If I wanted to have my own coins minted, could Durango coins be tracked? could I get my own D coin symbol?

If you re--read the thread, you will see why the topic started requested this...
  19. Yes, muggle is related to wicca and witchcraft. And it means you are somehow less than a practitioner of these. Another reason I dislike it! And yes, it is prejudicial... "" Some Wiccans and other neopagans use the term when referring to non-pagans, though others deprecate this usage as prejudicial."" What's wrong with onlooker? Mundane might be okay...
  20. I always wonder about liability. Say someone drowns trying to get an underwater cache. Does the family sue the cache owner for "enticing" them to do it?
  21. I must say, I've gotten better at reading the tracks left by other cachers. Often I get frustrated with the signal and just "track them" on the ground. It's always funny to see all the divergent trails as many people have followed the same bounced signals!
  22. If it's not geocaching, I'm off on my motorcycle Adara. Yes, she has a name. And for some reason my wife is very jealous.
