  1. THREAD WAKE UP POST I'm European & think you should see a travel-bug. One of my Travel bugs apparently went to "Pod Widmowym Królem V - Geocoin Festival" (GC5XX8K) and now I'm getting spammed with "Discovery" emails Most of the logs don't hide not seeing the TB IRL (e.g. Seen on the event in Krakow). What's happening? Will the discoveries stop? :? On 09/04 someone added the TB to the Geocoin festival And since there have been 33 discoveries. The majority of those form the last 24hrs
  2. Garmin Express found 4.1 for my 600 & I added it. Now immediately after a GSAK GGZ export the 600 reboots & comes back without any geoccaches I use the garminexport.gsk macro with ggz as the type & about 10000 caches in the filter I'll look for the 4.0 gcd and see if going back cures this. This export method was working in 4.0 EDIT: I couldn't find the 4.00 GCD, so I tried the export macro again & it was 3rd time lucky. Other symptoms are that the USB mode did reset a couple of times before I tried the first exports. Maybe these were 'local' PC related issues. & not the GPSr
  3. What's the date range of your track? Have you tried both ends of the date slider?
  4. That's what I tried to describe Oh! I'm using a 400t (forgot that is useful to know)
  5. On some profiles the 'go back to normal map' button now exits back to the menu I.e. if you've selected a new place on the map view that isn't your current position the bottom left button now takes you out to the menu. Luckily for my sanity the bug doesn't effect my main profile Any one else had this? The bug appeared in this beta release.
  6. Battery life is often reduced at temperature extremes.
  7. OK, I'm giving 3.81b ago The egnos change was quick to see. HO! It takes >10 System Restarts + several GPX folder deletes to get my 1900 cache GSAK export to display. And MapSource route exports have a waypoint randomly go to Lat 0 Long 0! Despite that I am going to perservere. I have worked out how to manually remove the wrong waypoint - that bit is e-z as the name is blank ; and add the missing waypoint. Can some one remind me the Garmin contact email address for issues with beta firmware? Cheers.
  8. [rude word deleted ] it took three system resets and one gpx folder delete to get the current caches loaded. add the frequent routes from Mapsource and MemoryMap that have a waypoint change to lat 0 long 0 on a route and I'm well pleased I jumped from Magellan to Garmin
  9. Hmm Mid April 3.80 came out. No patch/beta since Do Garmin think they've finished fixing and developing the Oregon? I hope not. I went to use my 400t after using GSAK to update the cache locations. As often happens the locations displayed were random and missing a bunch near me. I tried the 'finger held on the screen top left' system restart but now the 400t doesn't think I've got any cache files. 'should've stuck with the flawed but predictable explorist
  10. I hope this is still relevant and on topic! Has any one looked at using OS OpenData? http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/opendata/ Is it useful to us?
  11. The top of your GPSr is 'Up' You can have the North be fixed to 'Up' - this keeps the map static. With 'Track' set to 'Up' your heading, or route, etc. is now fixed to the 'Up' - this makes the map move around to match your heading, or route, etc.
  12. Hmm, I had the same problem on my Oregon 450 yesterday, but only with some caches, not others. I'm trying to isolate just what, maybe, is on the offending cache page to freeze the unit. So far I'm looking at animated gifs as possible culprits. I take some comfort from not being picked on specifically by Garmin then. pls Update the post when you have sussed out the pattern.
  13. Thanks I've been doing that, but at step 3 I've been copying the files back using windows and it hasn't been working for me. I've just tried again with using GSAK at step 3 and got the 400t working again. Maybe I had the usual issues plus a rogue .gpx file. I'm re-trying 3.80 and currently haven't an issue to report (except for several versions of software I always get the hanging when loading the maps after adding a new GPX file, normally I turn it off and back on at this stage and it is fine so it's good to come here and find other sufferrers :D Just come back from using the 3.80 400t on my first walking route + caching. I get the issue where the unit freezes trying to get the cache description or hint Roll on the 3.8 beta version!!!

  15. missed that step, and now my 400t is just limping along as a GPSr and is useless for caching. A master reset AFTER the downgrade didn't change much. I have this issue with my Colorado after loading GPX files, but only sometimes. I get four possible results: 1) No caches appear to be on the unit. 2) A random selection of caches appear, no idea how it decides what to show but never the cache I am closest to, I think it hates me . 3) They appear but details are blank and it normally then turns itself off. 4) It works fine. I have tried loading smaller files and even odd caches but the results can be any one of the above. I have found that a master reset then setting it up again and switching to geocaching mode normally sorts it. It keeps all my settings in that profile which is odd, but I am not complaining. On occasions there are still no caches so another reset virtually always brings them back on the second power up cycle. I have reported this a couple of times to Garmin but no response, yet plus it hanging when loading the maps after adding a new GPX file, normally I turn it off and back on at this stage and it is fine. So if one reset does not work try it all again. I can almost set my GPS back up without looking at it now as I have had to reset it so many times. that's where I am Haven't had it this bad for so long. 3.70.& 3.80 aren't working too well for me 3.70 used to work OK so it's a little confusing :?
  16. I think you'll need the current.gpx and/or the temp.gpx But if you have temp.gpx I expect that means you have MapSource and can reload your waypoints with that tool - assuming you had your waypoints saved there. But, you may have to rebuild your waypoints a new
  17. missed that step, and now my 400t is just limping along as a GPSr and is useless for caching. A master reset AFTER the downgrade didn't change much. And my tip for doing the master reset is to select a profile you haven't customised for the reset duration, and then reselect your usual profile when the GPSr is back up. I did notice that 3.80 fixed my route imports from MapSource & MemoryMap :? In 3.70 and 3.60 (& maybe the last few betas) I get a waypoint changed to Lat 0 Long 0 on the route. So, maybe I'll try 3.80 again as the best of a bad bunch
  18. HO I haven't got out of the house and have a problem with 3.80 on my 400t Get the blank screen + green 'Go' button freeze when trying to see cache description. Where's 3.70 available? That worked OK for me for the last 2 weeks EDIT: Got it: http://www8.garmin.com/software/Oregon_WebUpdater__370.gcd
  19. I use Win 7 with MM 2004 and the current GSAK At least you've skipped Vista One major change between XP and the newer Microsoft OS is a level of user access to installing and running programs. This is called 'User Account Control'. You can disable that, but I run OK with it left on :? If you right click on the gsak shortcut or executable you'll have the ability to 'run as administrator'. Try that. Did that change anything?
  20. I went to 3.6 as soon as I saw it was available Then had big problems displaying my recent GSAK cache updates so went back to 3.42b In the end that cache display issue probably turned out to be just a 'feature' of the Oregon in it's >3.2 guise - not sure. The fix is easy enough; select a Profile I don't use (Marine or Fitness) then do a power on + hold top right of screen reset and select a profile I use I might try 3.60 again. 3.61b seems ages away cheers EDIT: The crash going to the hint was still bugging me. The factory reset fix above just fixed the hint display
  21. Took my 400t to work today as there are some nearby caches, and a colleague is intrigued by the 'sport'. Unusually, I hadn't had the GPSr on for possibly a whole week I didn't get a lock until we'd walked past the 1st available cache - OK, a bit embarrassing, but I explained that the gps postition data my GPSr had was useless and a fresh start was needed. Got close to the next available cache and instead of getting the hint displayed I got the frozen blank page with the green Go button bottom right. Beyond a joke. This is with the same 3.42b installed that I've had for a month or two without this issue. I remember fgetting this issue all the time with a previous release, but why did it randomely resurface - with an audience!? Where's the next beta! 3.61b
  22. On my 400t I lost the ability to view saved tracks. Otherwise going OK I don't have any custom maps though :?
