  1. Firstly, I must apologise to Ashallond and everyone, as shortly after I joined this mission, I was *shock horror* banned from Groundspeak forums! My crime? A signature line that I have had for between three and four YEARS stating that I leave shiny round items with a hole in them and a number on the back, logable on another site in geocaches. Apparently, they are Groundspeak competitors ... who knew? I note that the package I sent to Sweden was received and the package I received from Pennsylvania has arrived. Unfortunately, my street address was missing from the package and it had just my town on, so the Post Office, although it took them a little time, managed to find me! I received lots of chocolate, a Christmas decoration and three lovely coins, my favourite of course is the Laval k9 one :) Thank you very much Secret Santa, and many thanks to Ashallond for patience with my banning predicament.
  2. No, it is the ability to view the details and coordinates of a PMO cache that is a perk of membership. We do not want to limit the ability of basic members to log them if they found them with a family member or friend who is premium. ...and what if I don't want large groups of cachers, only some of whom are PM going to my caches? With some of my caches the whole idea of them being PM was to stop too much footfall and to help me not have to change the log books so frequently .... You're not really helping the cache setters here ... just those who come along for the free ride!
  3. Well that's the biggest load of baloney I've heard this week ... The ability to log PM only caches is a perk of membership ... so why should just basic members be able to use it? As a paying member I find that a rather strange thing for you to say. I use PM on some of my caches where I wish to limit footfall, or reward cachers who care to pay into the game via membership ... If I am to be prevented from doing this, then I see no point in setting any further caches ...
  4. My contribution Dorsetgals Japanese Cat = 38,825 miles http://coord.info/TB153G8 Released December 10, 2006 Hero = 34,410 miles http://coord.info/TBJX9B Released September 1, 2005
  5. Something strange happened to me as I entered the hotel at GCF, it's all a bit vague now, but the upshot of it is that I got one of these wonderful geocoins ... Thank you very much, really appreciated.
  6. I'd like to join in please, email sent. Signed up: 23/10/11 Name received: Package sent: Package received: Thanks for setting this up for us to enjoy.
  7. My bold - I don't think I or most of the others did? I actually agree with your sentiments here which is what you eluded to in your first sentence/paragraph. Which is why I left that out of my quote. What I didn't agree with was your completely separate second paragraph written in a total different context to the first. Which is still totally different from what you have said above. It was related to the first statement, and I stand by it, I live in such a community.
  8. Those of you who have quoted what I said previously, have slightly missed the point, it was applauding the random times for publication, that will give greater chance of a more diverse group getting an ftf. If a reviewer kept a routine then it would only be people who are free at that particular time of day ... random widens the field. Widening the field makes it more fun for newbies to get a look in, which breathes life into the game.
  9. I've seen that happen a few times - it is a bit obvious when the date is a couple of days prior to publication. I just don't rush to find caches by certain folk for this reason. Exactly, and other variations on the theme!
  10. I think it's great to have them published at anytime if it's possible. A dedicated FTF hound can crush the spirit of the local community, especially so for newer cachers, who can, in some areas, never get an ftf opportunity.
  11. I use Garmin Colorado 300 with the (free) maps when in the countryside and iPhone about town. Perfect comb
  12. I would be interested in taking part. I like the Holiday Ornament suggestion, and of course pet would be right up my street, however, Halloween might be tricky unless it is really soon or we shall have left for GCF.
  13. These are in abundance down 'ere Mandy, all over the place following last nights winds!
  14. Trouble is, from what I am understanding, it shows them to everyone else as well!
  15. So glad to hear you're both home safe and sound, I hope Shadow and the birds weren't too disgusted with the pair of you! We were delighted to be able to see you on this side of the pond, and hope you have recovered from your quick march around our village! LOL We did that distance caching in a day thing last year, one at home and one when we arrived at the GCF hotel you laid on for us! It totalled 3976 miles, cos as you know, our home is a little west of London. This time we'll try harder
  16. Oh my word! Nice! Nice! Nice! As a retired maths teacher, I've gotta get me one of these at GCF! If I don't get one, I'm gonna bring my pup and he'll lick you to death! Muhahahahaha!
  17. Whatever I was doing, wherever I was, it is irrelevant compared to the events of a day that changed the world, and the families that paid the ultimate price. We all grieve and remember differently, but for me, I'm afraid a cointest doesn't sit well. Sorry.
  18. ...ah those were the days! Maybe there should be a those were the days event sometime ...
  19. You make a very good case for using a prevention on your dog. Frontline will kill ticks once they have attached and started to feed, K9 Advantix has a repellant function also.
  20. It's Cochineal and is bright red. No idea on the E number so will go one higher at E111
  21. Wow! I found a micro in London once that the Bobbies had found and signed but had the good grace to replace as found.
  22. Bizarrely, my complete 5 different different geocache icons in London in a day challenge has mysteriously disappeared. It was the one of my three challenges that had yielded more positive comments from fellow cachers in public and in private than any other ... I am now even more confused about what Groundspeak are trying to achieve here. It would appear OK that anyone can photoshop or submit tourist photos from years gone by and complete a challenge, but complete 5 different geocache types and state what they are is a no no ...
