  1. These coins are about to be ordered so any last minute takers should get their reservations in now.
  2. With the exception of Water Eaton, all the Oxford park and ride sites operate on Sundays Park & Ride
  3. Took part in the first one and had fun, so why not? Count us in please Mandy.
  4. I wish you could too, as I'm on the committee of that event
  5. There's now going to be a flash mob event running alongside my torch carrying stretch! Many thanks to Fudgeman. Also, geocoins to celebrate the event are available to preorder here. They have been designed by the same artist as I used 4 years ago, and compliment the first coins nicely.
  6. Sounds like you have found what's known as a "wooden nickel" about the size of a 50p coin except round? Cachers get them made or make them themselves and leave them as a signature item, very collectible. Good find.
  7. In the UK in 2012, I'd be surprised, the weather hasn't been anywhere near warm enough.
  8. It would not be fair to have an event within the Olympic Park as you have to be working there or have a ticket to get in, so wouldn't be open to all. Not least - try getting permission!
  9. My Keep Chasing Your Dreams geocoin is ready for preorder. It has it's own thread over on the geocoin forum Here
  10. I am going to be in town quite a bit during that time, once I have my exact schedule established I will be setting an event or two, and yes, it will be informal, likely in a park, mainly a meet and greet type thing to exchange TBs etc.
  11. Beautiful! Please add me to the "desperately seeking" list.
  12. Thank you! We can't believe that you're going to be here for the day - exciting! Many thanks Dr Neal, yes, it is Udo, which is pronounced "Yew Dough" in Germany where I believe the name originates it would be "oooh dough" I'm sure you've spotted the coins have a dog on I should also add that my pal Karen, who has Coco a Medical Detection Dog, and perhaps some of you have met them at Geocoinfest, will, I am sure be delighted to know she is also carrying the torch the same day!! Unbelievable! Karen's nomination
  13. Thank you so much Even though I've known for a while now, I'm still over the moon!
  14. I'm proud to announce the production of the "Keep Chasing Your Dreams" geocoin, designed by MadHattersNeverland and kindly produced by Mike at Cache Addict. Coin Page They're available in gold, silver and copper finishes. So, what's this about? Some of you may know me from the from the forums, Geocoinfest and other events, and already know that in 2008 I carried the Olympic Torch across London Bridge for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and indeed had the Chase Your Dreams geocoin made at that time. I geocache by wheelchair and am usually accompanied by my assistance dog, I'm in my 7th year of geocaching an rapidly approaching 2,000 finds. Carrying theTorch in 2008 was a truly once in a lifetime experience. Since then I've some particular challenges, including the loss of both my father and assistance dog, Caesar within weeks of eachother at the end of 2009 / beginning of 2010, and significant personal health issues.. However, on Valentine's Day 2011, Udo, another Golden Retriever assistance dog arrived from Dogs for the Disabled to be my assistant and companion, and I've continued my work in advocacy and access, including advising The Metropolitan Police on disability issues and The London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games on assistance dog matters. In early 2012 I learned that I'd been nominated and selected to carry the Olympic Torch for a second time, this time in Upton, a suburb of my hometown of Poole, in Dorset, England. Hence the Keep Chasing Your Dreams geocoin was conceived, and designed by the same artist. On being selected a second time "I simply can't believe it, I have to keep pinching myself, it's truly an honour and a privilege to be selected again, and lovely that I get to do this again with Udo, my successor dog" I hope that you enjoy my coin. Edit to add: My nomination on the London 2012 website BBC TORCHCAM If you watch online around 3.05pm BST on Friday 13th July, you should be able to see me carrying the torch live!
  15. Very sad news, gone too soon. Condolences to his family.
  16. Nice! Is it possible to order the whole set at once?
  17. Really pleased with the news, looking forward to it! Hotel booked yonks ago, must look out the paperwork!
  18. Might I suggest you also try the Hampshir facebook page? Try also the forums of the neighbouring counties.
  19. I spent a week in Portsmouth a couple of years back, and went to Gosport ONLY because there were geocaches that I could do there. Whilst there we purchased soft drinks and ice creams too!
  20. Interestingly, I was recently involved in an extended tabletop exercise at NSY on calamity and catastrophe affecting our capital during games time. Not once was geocaching mentioned, although I did pop it into the conversation, it wasn't regarded as any great threat. Thanks for the clarification (further down) on events, I have a well documented liking for flash mobs, so it may be time to get some onto the calendar for Olympic visitors
