  1. There are some really amazing pieces of art in the 40+ pages of this thread. I don't know how you guys come up with some of this stuff. With that said, I am curious to see what someone can come up with for us. We use the logo over on the left as our sig logo. We punch out round stickers that we place in cache logs, and have even made a few 'sig tokens' out of poker chips. As far as FSUgly & Family FSU - Florida State University (where I, the daddy, went to school) gly - 3 letter nomenclature for the geology dept @ FSU & Family - Mommy, Son & Daughter (son & daughter are 5 & 2, respectively) We are all Seminole fans and love geocaching. If you are in need of any other type of info, just let me know. EDIT: the samll print on our current logo says 'Daddy, Mommy, Son & Daughter' 'Tallahassee, FL' Thanks a bunch! BTW, if nothing comes to mind, that is OK, too.
  2. Just a guess, but its what I have noticed when I have found types labeled as that: FL style: hidden under palm fronds GA style: hidden under pine straw
  3. I suppose that "decon boxes" is a house hold name in the States, but I've never heard of it. I've always thought that a Decon was a person who helped out in a church. A decon box therefore must either be a small office or an unpleasant place to put a Decon. I must assume that you are refering to something other than a person as those boxes at the US Army Surplus stores look much too small for a person. So, if I were in the military and opened up a decon box, what would I find? I always thought the person helping out in the church was a Deacon..with an 'A.' The decon boxes used around here are about 3" thick x 4" wide x 9" long and have 4 latches that keep it closed (they are waterproof). I think what some on here are calling decon kits are the plastic boxes that you place the decon wipes in and they snap closed and are carried on the back of the NBC mask carriers.
  4. I have 6 FTF's and not one had a FTF prize in it (was not the reason we went for them anyways). But when we placed our cache we made sure to leave a FTF prize.....we left a Misty Mate personal misting machine. We use ours when out caching, at the beach, at Disney, pretty much anywhere we are outside and it is hot (which is alot down here). They run about $15 at Wal-Mart.
  5. Yellow Jackets will build nests in the ground. 2 weeks in a row (in the same location) I was out mowing my lawn when I got popped in the back of my leg by one of these things. The first time I thought it was just a wasp out flying around. The second time I knew there was a nest somewhere. Standing back and looking around, sure enough, a hole in the ground about the size of a quarter. I had some wasp spray that I sprayed down in that hole (which by the way did nothing but tick them off), and I couldn't believe the numbers of yellow jackets came out of that hole. Glad you're OK and didn't have any type of reaction.
  6. A couple months ago I bought a Palm M125 (like new with usb cradle and palm software) for $19 shipped. Then Cachemate was another $8. Works perfectly!
  7. My guess is that because it has 2 DNF's noone wants to "waste their time" looking for it. I am guilty of seeing what the most recent activity has shown, and if there are 2 or more recent DNF's, I won't go look for it. Have you posted a maintenace note stating the cache is right where it should be? How about re-checking your coordinates to make sure they are checking out? Hope this helps.....
  8. How long is that sale going on? Until all the product is gone, I do believe. It usually doesn't last too long though.
  9. LOL...sooner or later. Unless you'd rather some of my kids used Happy Meal toys
  10. 75% off right now. I picked up some canteens, folding shovels, carabiners, and photo holders for 25 cents each today. Can't beat that for trade loot!
  11. Rit dye will make them many different colors. Really..Rit dye on a white jeep wil work. I have dyed hot wheels many times,
  12. Or, You could do a pocket query, and limit the search to "X" distance from your home coordinates. That way, you will have caches with you no matter what direction from home you might be.
  13. GC.com name...Actually, we place a sticker with the image under my username on the left of this screen in the logbook, then write a short msg about the find
  14. Heck, yeah, bring the kids. Ours are 1 and 4
  15. I paid via paypal, and it was within a few minutes.
  16. Yep, that's what happened. The "Add to queue" button is faded out, so I must have hit it since it will only run once in 7 days. Always learning.....Thanks alot
  17. I received a Pocket Query in my email that I did not set up. It is called "[GEO] Pocket Query: My Finds Pocket Query." I have not received one of these before, and wanted to know if this is right before I open it. Thanks in Advance
  18. You have to decipher the coordinates from German to English I don't know either. Maybe it is like briansnat said?
  19. Do as Blue Bomb said, "Double check your GPS settings, and make sure it is set to WGS 84. Using the wrong datum can throw you off." GCPBHT Always #16 - I don't want to give this away, and if you want more precise info, please ask. The owner gives a pretty good description, and the hint is right on. To help you with this one, "Always" is part of a certain stores motto (this will help ensure you are in the right area). The hint, "Under the protective cover," is telling you to lift, and look under something (this "something" is very common in these locations - there's prob over a 100 of these in that area). Looking at the others, it seems that pictures (on the middle cache), and the hints should help you alot! Good Luck, and don't let the frustration get to you.
  20. That was the problem. They were all set to a diff coord system....d'oh! Thanks a bunch ~ Tom
  21. Does anyone know why the coordinates that download to EasyGPS/my gpsr are different than what is listed on the cache's page? EX: "Example Cache" N 30° 27.217 W 084° 13.694 - This is the actual listed coords on the geo page. "This is what downloads to easygps" - N 30° 27.13 W 084° 13.41 "This is what downloads to my gpsr" - N 30° 27.03 W 084° 10.04 Thanks in advance, Tom
