  2. Hi all, I am a Belgian geocacher who has started a crazy project of discovering a geocache in every country on the planet. For all countries where I find a cache, I produce a personal geocoin with a symbol of the country. So this quarter, I have finished the sixth country and I'm putting my Malaysia Geocoin on sale. I am convinced all the Malaysians will know what it represents. If you want more information about the project, just go to my website And if you want to buy one of the coins (the other countries are still available too) just go to my Webshop And here is the coin. Hope you guys like it ! Let me know what you think Ellandel - Geocaching around the planet

  5. The sixth coin in the Ellandel Series is now available for sale. The country illustrated this quarter is Malaysia, a fascinating country where I had great fun geocaching at the foot of the Petronas Towers, some of the tallest tower buildings in the world, but also in the jungle forests of Borneo. The theme I selected for the Malaysian coin is the Wau, the large kite which the Malaysians like to assemble according to age-old traditions. They come in all sizes and colors, and they are one of the national symbols. Malaysian Airlines even has a stylized drawing of a Wau on the tail of their planes. The Wau chosen for this coin is called Wau Bulan, which means Moon Kite. For details on the wau, have a look at This page. So here is what the coin looks like. It blends nice, rich colors with lots of visible metal, and the use of translucent colors is showing the metal engravings under the paint. The effect is quite nice. It was designed by Paula Collins, based on an existing Wau pattern. The Nickel, Gold (limited to 100) and Black (limited to 100) versions are available on the Webshop at www.ellandel.com/osCommerce/catalog . The Limited series will not be re-minted when they are sold out. If you want to know more about the series and the story behind it, all the details are available on the website at www.ellandel.com. This is a nice addition to your coin collection, and a unique design ! But hurry up, they are almost sold out!
  6. Strange that nobody has been able to state the simple facts : 1) Goods sold and sent from any European Union country to any other European Union country carry VAT. 2) Goods sold and sent from any European Union country to customers outside the European Union carry NO VAT Conclusion : an EU shop should never charge VAT on goods sent to the US. Full stop. It does not matter whether it is from Germany, Denmark or the UK, this is European Union legislation, applicable to all member states. Cheers Ellandel
  8. ... a successor of The Cachebug ??? Anyway, nice to get information about upcoming coins on a single place again! Dirk Why was the link removed ?

  11. This is the fifth coin in the series 'Geocaching around the Planet'. It is part of my crazy plan to find a geocache in each of the 192 countries of the planet. I'm well on my way since I have found a geocache in 26 countries already...still quite a few to go, but I'll get there ! And for each country where I find a cache, I produce a geocoin which illustrates a symbol or a story about that country. This fifth coin celebrates Singapore and its Merlion, and you can buy the coin on my webshop HERE!. If you want more details about my project and the previous coins issued (there are still a few left), it's all on my website : www.ellandel.com. So, what is a Merlion ? Well, it's an imaginary animal with the body of a fish and the head of a lion, that has become the symbol of Singapore. There are actually 5 statues representing it in Singapore, the most famous one located at the mouth of the Singapore river. The name - as you probably guessed - is a contraction of the two words MERmaid and LION, hence Merlion. According to some popular stories from the 11th century, Sang Nila Utama, a Malay prince, spotted a lion on an island while he was sailing to Melakka. That island became Singapore, which means 'Lion City' in Sanskrit. You can find the full story on Wikipedia on this link, and the story of the Merlion by clicking here!. In reality, the Merlion was designed in 1964 for the Singapore Tourism Board and was used as its symbol until 1997. So whether the legends are true or not, it does not really matter. It is a nice example of how successfully the city-state marketed itself... ! There are still a few Limited Edition coins in Gold and Gun for sale, so hurry ! Best regards Ellandel
  12. Hurry Hurry - The Gold and Gun editions are almost sold out !

  16. Here is my fifth coin in the series of personal coins I am publishing. For each country where I find or hide a Geocache, I publish a Geocoin. More details can be found on my Website : Click here ! The coin illustrates the Merlion, a mythical creature that was defending the coasts of Singapore against the furious waves of the South China Sea - or so the Singapore Tourism Board says ! The coin looks great - here is a picture : and if you want to get one of those rare geocoins, go to my Webshop on This link Let me know what you think Cheers Allandel (aka Luc)
